I like Shakespeare...mostly. The only plays of his I've actually read are Julius Caesar and Henry VIII. Julius Caesar was ok, but a little dry, as was Henry.
I love watching the plays though. My local Shakespeare company does a great job performing them One of my favorites was As You Like It: you just can't beat having a Shakespeare-ian heroine dancing around moaning about how much she loves Orlando

I have read Romeo and Juliet and many of his sonnets. Romeo and Juliet was well devised and I think he took a great plot that was already floating out there and made it his own. But I don't know whether or not you'll agree but it's obvious Romeo isn't ruly in love and that was the authors intiention. He wanted to write about things closer to the human eart, he needed the main characters to have flaws.

We get to do eight minute Shakespeare again this year, this time for Macbeth. You have to condense an act into eight minutes. It's great fun - last year we did Romeo and Juliet and we had people quoting potc. It was really funny.
There are only three of us in my group, so if we have an act with the witches we plan to merge it into one witch with a split personality. "like smeagol" my friend says...
ah, what it is to mutilate Shakespeare..

What's here? a cup, closed in my true love's hand?
Poison, I see, hath been his timeless end:
O churl! drunk all, and left no friendly drop
To help me after? I will kiss thy lips;
Haply some poison yet doth hang on them,
To make die with a restorative.
Thy lips are warm. Yea, noise? then I'll be brief. O happy dagger!
This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die.

I read Romeo and Juliet in school last year and really liked it, and right now I'm in the process of reading King Henry the Sixth.....which is getting somewhat dull, as it has 3 parts.....and there are waaay too many dukes....
