I am very frustrated!
I still cannot understand why Shelob did not appear in The Two Towers at the end as it were in the book. Don't you all agree it would have been a great cliff-hanger? (= A very thrilling part at the end of a movie)
When I watched The Two Towers in the theatre, I sure missed Shelob!

It is explained in the SEE of TTT:
PJ needed a "happy end" for the second movie, and not an open end, and that it would have been, because then PJ also would had to take in the whole Isengard Sequence. He also needed much space for the introduction of Faramir, and so Shelob had to pass to RotK.

And in the book Boromir **should** have died in the 2nd one. I think the TTT book ends with Pippin touching the palantir and Sam trying to save Frodo right?

Pippin is already riding away with Gandalf in the end of TTT. Gandalf tells him of Gondor, and teaches him a poem:
Tall ships and tall kings
Three times three
What brought they from the foundered land
Over the flowing sea?
Seven stars,
Seven stones,
And one white tree!

^ Yes, it was quite the same here I didn't watch the movie in the cinema, but I have read the books and I asked my friend about the movie. I was quite "shocked" when I heared thet nothing of the whole Shelob sequence is in the movie! I thought that Peter Jackson must have cut it out or forgot it...

I was glad they saved Shelob for later, it would have made the movie really tight packed and less detail would have been allowed otherwise. But it was a suprise not see Shelob in TTT.

Same here I think that it is better cuz you have alredy got the battle of helms deep!!!!! And i think pj did a great job on the film. I mean the books are huge it would be like ten hours just to sit down and watch it!!!

Yes, PJ also explained how you have this huge battle at Helm's Deep...then you go to another fight scene? It'd be overkill on the fights.

I think it was necessary to cut the movie right after the battle of Helm's Deep. Any more screen time and it would have gone on much too long. I know I certainly missed Shelob, but it would have been way too much confusion if she was thrown in at the last second. Things work a lot differenlty in books than in movies.

Why didn't he just cut down all the fight scenes involing Aragorn & Co> You have atleast an hour of fight scenes, whereas Tolkien spent less than a chapter describing that battle. I would have much preferred to see the Shelob scene included, rather than seeing Legolas skateboarding down stairs or Aragorn getting pwned by a warg. This would have led to more time available in the last film, hence they could include things like Scouring of the Shire.

well, those aren't the only reasons. cutting shelob out of the two towers left the battle of helm's deep as the climax. if shelob was in ttt, helm's deep would kinda get pushed aside a bit, either that or shelob would get pushed aside and neither one would be a big climax.
that's my reasoning anyway.
