I agree. I bet it'll be PG-13

Yeah, PG-13 sounds about right. probablly for the same stuff as Lotr "mild action sequences and frightning images" Though I'm sure there's probablly less frightning imagines in Eragon than LOTR, at least in Book 1, maybe not Eldest.

It doesn't. That's just Arwen the Webmaster's translation of it, not Tolkien's.
Alot of books and stories may seem similar to each other but that doesn't necessarily mean that they copy anyone else's books. Tolkien had the right to use ancient myths and tales to help him with his stories, like everyone else is entitled to. The only reason why they seem like they're copying Tolkien is because of that.
Anyway when it comes to "borrowing" Tolkien's ideas... Terry Brooks is 100000000x worse than CP.

Hmmm. I wonder what it would translate to elsewhere, then - does anyone know of other elvish-name-translating sites? I haven't found many extensive ones besides A-U...
I'm not saying CP borrowed Tolkien's ideas. I admit I think he may have drawn on them in a few spots, but in that area I think he copies Star Wars FAR more.
All that to say, I still find it extremely hard to believe that CP came up with myriad Tolkienesque names (Valinor, Melian, Elessari, Imiladris, Mithrim, Angrenost, just to name some) and then afterwards happened to discover that Tolkien had already used them. So the only conclusion to come to is that he copied them.
And I'm NOT slamming Inheritance. I really enjoy them, they're some of my favorite books, but I don't and never have thought they were terribly original in any way.

*laughs* That's true... though he got better in Elfstones. In The Sword, he was awful.
And yeah, I'm guessing PG-13 as well. I want it to be PG-13, because the only way to keep it PG would be to never show blood, like in Narnia... which gets painfully unrealistic.

Can I ask a question here? This is really to everyone...does anyone have any idea what Durza's riding in the trailers? The book about making of the movie said it was his steed and the video game guide for Eragon said it is a bat but what is it really?
PG-13 does sound like a reasonable rating for Eragon. I think they might have spiked the rating deliberately to attract more crowds (don't know where the reasoning for that comes from but still..) As for the idea that CP copied Tolkien, Tolkien could be, arguably, the father of modern fantasy. So many fantasy things copy from LOTR and Tolkien.

With teeth!
There was a big Eragon standee at the theater I went to today...my Mom, who has read the books, said, "I can't even guess who's who." *grin* Yep, we're related.

As we get nearer and nearer, A-U is more and more inundated with Murtagh banners...
I'm looking forward to it, but not really impatient for it to come. I'm way more impatient for PotC III. But I am excited at least mildly. Yay for fantasy!
