:explode: I'm not going to see it today! I'm really, really mad! and I probably won't be able to see it today 'cause my mother doesn't want to go on the premiere weekend.

POTC comes out on my birthday.

OMG I just saw it.. all the events went by pretty quickly and naturally, a lot of events were taken out. Like.. when Eragon saves Arya, he just randomly disguised himself to get into the dungeon.. and when he went to her, she was conscious "Eragon.. you shouldn't have come.. leave, now!" And Brom dies in the dungeon when Durza was trying to hurl a blade at Eragon, and Brom jumps in front of Eragon and takes the blade to his chest. It was kind of.. different. Arya was conscious and talking when they brought her out of the dungeon, and there wasn't one moment when she was unconscious. There were loads of different things.. Katrina never existed in the movie and Eragon didn't know Brom until his uncle died. It was all a mix up, but it worked out.

Also, the only addition that I liked was when Saphira wanted Brom to die a Rider, so she takes him in the air on her back and let him die riding her.. it was so sweet, I was crying!

EDIT::
btw, I gave out spoilers because this thread had "spoiler warning" in it.. don't hurt me.

I got back a few hours ago!

It was considerably better than I expected. There was some really bad screenwriting, but also some good lines. The special effects were really really good. Sometimes the flow of the movie was a little jerky, but it was alright. Brom ROCKS FOREVER AND EVER. I cried when he died. Baby Saphira is so adorable... I just wanted to pick her up and cuddle her! The music is quite good. The landscapes are really beautiful, though not very varied. They cut out a lot, but I don't mind much. Angela was really weird.

And... there. I don't think I gave away any spoilers. Now for my rating, on a 1 -10 basis... I'd give it an 8. :)

Oh, one last thing: I really think it should have been PG-13.

Hmm... sounds messed up... but i'll take your word on it being fairly good. How was Murtagh?

Murtagh didn't seem as important in the movie.. the way they met up was he actually followed them from the dungeon after they saved Arya, and Saphira caught him.

Murtagh was really minor... and IMHO not quite as good as in the book. :annoyed2: He was kind of... weird.

Aww... thats sad. Murtagh is my favorite character (not just because I think he's cute, either :P)
I'm a little disappointed now.

Just wanted to warn you all that my little rant here is going to include many spoilers, so don't hurt me for mentioning anything you didn't want to hear.

*Spoiler Warning!*

I disliked it. I disliked the whole entire movie. Okay.. I disliked it with a passion. A really, really big passion. You might be able to tell that I'm trying extremely hard not to say the word hate. Hate is a strong word that I rarely ever use, however I might have to make an exception here. I have never seen a movie which had been so badly adapted from the book [except perhaps "Ella Enchanted"]. Besides saying that I disliked it [with a passion] I guess I shall give you some well thought out reasons. And I warn you once again that this is where the spoilers begin. These are just my opinions so please respect them as I would yours.

Starting on a lighter note I would like to state that I was extremely happy with how Saphira, Nasuada, Durza, and Eragon turned out. They all possessed the traits and qualities of their characters from the book which I was pleased with. The beginning was also another favourite of mine. The narration was nicely done, if not a bit LotR-ish. I would also like to note that I realise it would be impossible to fit every single story line and plot into such a movie as Eragon, as it would be well over 3 hours. However, I am steadfast in my belief that if they had slowed the movie down and made it about an hour or so longer, more of my wishes would have been fulfilled. Now I advise you to get comfortable if you wish to continue on with my ramblins and rants-

Missing/Misplaced Characters/Races:
My biggest pet peeve throughout the entirety of the movie was the fact that several of our most pivotal characters [some of which will not be important til the next movie] were absent.
Orik: I failed to find Orik, our source of comic relief throughout the books, and his fellow Dwarves who were no where to be found. [Unless you count all the bearded men walking throughout Farthen Dur, none of whom were short enough to pass as a dwarf.]
Katrina: Most noted was the absence of Katrina, who will be a major chess piece in the following movie/book, Eldest. She is what drives Roran [who was also given hardly any credit of any kind at all] to do things he does. All will be expecting a happy marriage for the two of them at the end of the last book. Of course, that can't happen now unless they introduce her in the Eldest which I find very unlikely.
Solembum: Where was our favourite werecat? We came upon Angela one time and yet her companion was not there. He was sorely missed and so was his vast knowledge and hints at what was to come.
Jeod: Not our most important character I know, but definitely of some importance in Eldest. I'm sure it will be possible for Roran to meet Jeod in the next movie, however Jeod will have no knowledge of Eragon or Saphira which will most certainly cause some problems.

Misportrayed Characters:
Sloan: What happened to the grouchy old butcher we know from the books? I saw a butcher, but not a grouchy old one who wanted nothing to do with Eragon or Roran. He happened to mention some meat and later on have a few words with the Ra'zac, but other than that he could have just been a tree in the woods for all we care.
Ra'zac: *sarcasm* Eww.. hissing, maggot-faced animals with human eyes! Run for your lives! The worst portrayal the film makers could have done was this one. I wanted to be scared of the Ra'zac, just as I was afraid of them in the books. I wanted to fear their presence and yet all I could do was yawn. Not even the wee 4-year-old sitting behind me at the cinema was frightened of them. What happened to the "shining black skin, humped back where future wings may be hidden, sharp beak, barbed purple tongue, and huge, lidless eyes the size of a fists, with no pupils or irises"? All we got was two black-clothed things.
Urgals: Was anyone here reminded of the blue Ogres from "Ella Enchanted"? I swear I saw several of them running around Alagaesia. Maybe they were just cousins or something because their skin wasn't blue of course. These so called Urgals had brown skin, tattoos, piercings, and black teeth. Scary indeed. I expected some Orc-like things with horns, but not these obese humanoids.
Angela: I admit, she wasn't too bad. At least what we saw of her wasn't bad. She's a good fortune teller. But I was wondering where her frizzed/curly hair had gone, along with her ever present frogs and boiling cauldrons. Maybe she sold them to get all that gold jewelry she was wearing.
Arya: She wins the award for "Worst Portrayal of Them All". I'm not saying the actresses acting was bad, I'm just saying that this portrayal of Arya has got to be the most lame Elf that has ever walked the earth. I mean, where was here air of superiority, poise, and wisdom? Where was her vision of perfection? Where were her pointed ears for crying out loud? The things she said were the words of a helpless, teenage girl, not that of a 70-year-old-warrior-elf-princess. She was weak, even with fancy armor on. She gets some brownie points for acting frightened and in pain when she was supposed to though. [Hey, what happened to that self-induced coma too? Another pivotal plot point gone missing I suppose.]

Missing Plot Lines:
Sparring Between Brom/Eragon: Okaaay... we saw maybe one scene of the two fighting with sticks which was more than I expected. We also see Eragon make a fool of himself thinking that he can beat Brom. A bit of comic relief. Haha. So, if Brom and Eragon didn't spar more often how did Eragon suddenly get so good and strong?
Tierm/Gil'ead/Dras Leona: Completely missing, yet so important. I know it's necessary to leave some things out of a movie, but because we missed visiting these places we don't know who Jeod is and we don't know where the Ra'zacs' secret lair is either. Without all this knowledge how will any second movie be made?
Eragon's Scar: The most important cut made to any plot line in the entire movie was the fact that Eragon's scar is never mentioned. His scar is the basis for Eldest. He is looked upon as cripple and as weak because of it. It causes him physical and mental anguish. It is a major obstacle that is overcome later on, and without it there is no way Eragon can become who he is by the end of book 2.

Misportrayed Plot Lines:
Ra'zacs' Death: Or rather, one Ra'zac gets stuck in a tree and the other gets stabbed in the heart. There goes any last hope of seeing them in movie 2. Well... there goes any hope of seeing movie 2 at all.
Brom's Death:Quite adorable really and yet mediocre at the same time. I didn't shed a tear for him when he died. I was too caught up in the fact that if Arya calls herself an Elf then why can't she have healed him as Eragon failed to do? [And she was present at the time.. another flaw in the movie.] But no, all she could do was cry and stroke his cheek while Saphira says some bland scene-crushing words in the background.
Growing Up of Saphira: Umm... last I heard dragons didn't take 3 seconds to grow up. Yeah I know we're in movie time, but dude, there is no possible way a dragon can grow up with just 3 little bursts of light.
Urgals' Appearance at Farthen Dur: Where in the world did they come from? One moment they're not there and the next Eragon is spurring Murtagh and himself on faster because the Urgals are right on their tails.

Misc. Complaints:
Passing of Time: As I've mentioned before, the time in a movie passes much faster than it does in real life. However, that does not mean that we should push a 600+ page book into an hour and a half movie. We couldn't do it with LotR so why do it with Eragon?
Learning of Magic: How many of you heard the many made up words used in this movie? Are the words for tree and branch ever mentioned in the books? I think not. Can Chris Paolini sue for that? Because I would. And.. how on earth could Eragon learn so many words in the ancient language in so little time? We don't even see Brom teaching him any! Ever!
Saphira's Wounds: Oh great, a hero moment. All of a sudden Eragon suddenly finds the strength to heal Saphira even after he has used almost all of it to kill Durza. She's a dragon! A few wounds to the neck is not going to do anything short of annoying her.
Eragon's Would-Be Love Life: No, no, no, no, no!!! I saw where this was going from the moment Eragon saw Arya in his dreams. He might love her, which does not stray at all from how he feels in the books, but she can not love him. They can not be together I tell you! Yet, the way Arya was portrayed almost makes it seem as if she is interested in him also. It is not meant to be people! Stop thinking that way! Gah!

These are just a sampling of the many faults I found in this movie compared to the books. They are great and they are many. I am doubtful that any would be able to be fixed for the next movie. If you intend to disagree with what I have said, be my guest. I am not trying to change your views on this movie, niether would I like to you to change mine. I am steadfast in the way I feel about how it turned out and I have no wish to see it again. This movie has shamed Christopher Paolini's books in my eyes.

^*looks around* What Larael said! *nods*

Wow.. my fingers would break if I typed all that out but if you put together all me and my friend's little snide remarks during the movie about every single detail, it'd probably be as long as your post there :P

Arya's Elf ears.. you know I actually had a bit of a heart attack-ish rage in the theatre when I realised that her ears were NOT pointy? My friends didn't think it was that big of a deal, but it was! Was it that hard for them to put pointy ears on her? It's one tiny thing that could have made it better.

I don't dislike the movie though.. I think the graphics were very nice and all and to a person who has never read the book before, it's a perfectly beautiful movie. I guess they kind of had to do all that because it was an hour and a half-long movie, and there's no way they work half as much as the Lord of the Rings team did.. which is why it wasn't an exceptionally wonderful movie.

And.. and.. his gedwëy ignasia was supposed to be SILVER... not disgusting and scar-like... it was supposed to be unique..
