Well. I just saw the movie and I have good and bad things to talk about it. First the bad things..not enough Brom or Murtagh. Brom got like only thirty minutes and Murtagh 15. It won't hurt to expand the movie a bit. I actually wish the movie was a little longer so they could build up all the characters properly. As a guy, I wish there was a bit more battle scenes. Durza was an odd combination of Saruman and Wormtongue (did anyone recognize the scene where Durza rallies his army?) Arya was also a bit odd.
Ok now the good things. Brom was played by an excellent actor but worked under horrible script writers and director. Murtagh was really cool wherever you could find that is. Sapphira was amazing. Overall: awesome Brom, Murtagh, and Sapphira. Everyone else has room for improvement. I give it 3 stars: one for Murtagh, one for Sapphira, and one for Brom.

AF, I agree with ur statement about not beind disappointed no matter what. I find you can'tbe critical of movies based off of books. No matter what, the movie will never be as good. They can come pretty darn close, but you can't entertain every aspect of a novel, so it's best to just go in with an open mind.

And Caunion, I agree about the aspects you really liked...but I know I'm prolly the only one, but I thought Ed did a spectacular job with what his character was allowed to be. I think if there was more chance for development of Eragon, he would've nailed it. He was a believable character that I felt for. I think he was more sensitive than I imagined him, but I liked that. The Eragon I had pictured was very closed and not as easy to sympathize with.

^I agree. I was thinking that the acting, especially of Eragon, was going to be really bad... but Ed Speelers did a very excellent job with what he had.

Wow, we're getting really different ideas here! Luckily I agree with several people... I agree with Sam, but with Tur too, and I agree with everybody's complaints about it, but like it anyway.

Basically I went into it refusing to be that disappointed. I'm not normally optimistic, but I tried to be, and it worked. I'm still determined to think it was an OK movie, despite the many flaws. It had Narnia totally beat!

Again, I totally agree!

If you ignore the facts on the books that where left out and looks on what they actually put in, then the movie was awesome! They did everything to the max!

But, if you look at it from how much if left out, then aye, it definatly was a downgrade and the book was much better, I'd say. But all the actors did great on what they where given, and Saphira was perfect and there is no other location in the world I can think of that would also make it look so...idk, real, but still...

You must look at both sides of the story here to really get the full aspect.

Oh, I definitely did.. it was extremely awkward to look at... well, extremely weird for any Lord of the Rings fan to watch.

Definitely! For his first film, he was amazing.

Did you see all of the running/riding through the pretty outdoors from a flying perspective too?

It took a lot from known sellers and combined it into one.

^I agree :) And their graphics weren't even extremely super either.

I can name a few of movies that are seen in Eragon.. LotR, StarWars, The Mummy, Harry Potter (Hippogriff ;]).. any others to add to the list?

^I wrote one ages ago, right after the first promo picture was released and everyone was furious about Arya's hair.

HC, did you change your name from something else relatively recently? I can't remember you past a few weeks ago... :duh:
