I stumbled on this petition when surfing the net. Some LotR fans want Google to show a Tolkien-related logo on his birthday on January 3rd. Some of their ideas for Google logos are actually pretty cool!

What a sweet idea! I love it!! YAY! Will they be doing that this year on Jan. 3rd? AWW I'm not gonna have access to a computer then! NO! Now I have to wait a whole, stupid, year! And who knows if they'll do it next year, too??! NOOO! -_- This is so unfair.

oh wow, those are really cool. too bad they didn't do it, that kinda sucked. Tolkien's birthday is so easy for me to remember cause it's on the same day as my mom's birthday XD cool huh? it would've been much cooler if she were a fan of him
