Same here, Valera.

I'm pretty sure that it is still the longest-running RPG on the forum, but while I've still got ideas for it in the long run, I'm running out of stuff for the short term. Feel free to do whatever you want to enhance the plot. I think it could use some more of your help. :)

Hmm.. I'm not sure what the RP is about, but perhaps you could open it to new characters or invite people.
If you open it for new people to join, you might get some new action (and usually people drop out fast when school or RL catch up, so you wont have to worry about too many new characters!) OR you could invite special guest star appearances. Ask people to make up a character to start/participate in a sub-plot, and so they could leave the RP again afterwards. That way you get some fresh blood and new ideas and the people you ask - who might already be busy with other RP's - only have to commit a limited time to this!

The RPG is a Star Wars one, Eä, and it's in trouble mostly because I've burnt out a lot of my plot ideas on other things, and am running out of ones to keep the plot going on a short-term basis. It'd be difficult for anyone else to join right now, though.

Valera, thanks for posting--I'll reply to that asap. :D

Captain Faramir, you want a list of all the running RPGs? Why not just go through the ones on the first and second pages--those are basically the only ones that could be considered consistent.

Star Wars? Hmm.. alright, in that case I have absolutely no plot ideas then. But still if you don't feel like using the guest star appearance, you could still ask people who do SW RP's if they had any ideas to a short sub-plot - maybe use some which they had used before in other RP's. Or you might consider simply closing it if it has been running for so long, perhaps it just served its time now.

Hmm... have this club turned into a msn society since no one ever posts here? :-)

Try Raven's RP directory, Captain Faramir. I don't know when it was last updated but it should get you started.

Eheh, you could be entirely right, Ea :P I resolve to post more.

SO.

Random question of the day: What kind of character are you best at? Mine tend to be female and it varies from there. Though I would have to say I think I'm best at playing the naive/inexperienced ones, and I can't do witty or extremely intelligent characters - because then I have to be as smart as they are :P

I'm also better at females since I am one, but I think I could handle playing a male if I tried. I'm not that great at canon characters, so I tend to always make up an OC, which lands me in the position of trying not to make her a Mary-Sue. :explode:

I am better at male chars -obviously since I am a male- and I love my chars acting as evil. I am good at playing bad guys following Sean Bean's path I think :D

I am not good at my POTC char, Gibbs. I try so hard to be like him but it is impossible I think :(

Hmm...I pretty much play everything and everyone, so I'm not quite sure what my forte is. I like to move around a lot and try out new things. I'd say I probably do best as secondary primary characters. In other words, the characters that are important to the plot and are closely involved with the main heroes, but not THE big hero. Kjan in "Phantom Grey" is the perfect example of my type of character. He's one of the main characters (and technically even the second-in-command, though they don't really have a very rigid structure), and he is important, but he doesn't have all the pressure of being the Phantom. Other examples would be canon characters such as Norrington or Bootstrap in PotC RPGs, or someone like Siri Tachi in a SW RPG.

Oh, and I [s]like[/s] LOVE villains/antagonists. I'm not much of one for creating my own OC villains, but I absolutely love playing characters like Barbossa, Lord Cutler Beckett, Emperor Palpatine, etc. The ones that are evil just for the sake of being evil (though I would consider Barbossa to be more just an antagonist than a true villain, but that's a whole different rant). It's just so fun to occasionally step away from the stereotypical good guy and be just plain evil. :vampire:

And strangely enough, I do better with males. I mean, I can play a female just fine (for example, I'm currently playing Elizabeth in "Key to Freedom"). I just tend to prefer male characters in RPGs. Most of it is probably my deep antipathy for Mary Sues, but...yeah.

ETA: Faramir, it might help if you moved around and tried more characters. It may simply be that Gibbs isn't your type. I know we've only barely gotten into Key, but the one post for Leech that you've done was one of the best I've ever read from you. Sometimes it's just a matter of finding a character who really complements your personality and style.

hmm... good question, Melda! I couldn't say for sure, but I seem to be most comfortable with thinking charries, who are at least moderately intelligent. I'm also more comfortable with hand-to hand combat techniques, or small-bladed weapons - hardly any of my charries have swords. And like potr, I like charries who can have a substantial effect on the plot without actually carrying it.

I haven't played canon charries for extended periods of time, so I'm not truly comfortable with playing one yet. And I don't really like playing the bad guy - guess I like having the odds stacked against me :D

I use only two names (Kith and Threng, with a few exceptions) but my characters are pretty ranged. My more extreme characters are either dark and loners or socible, happy, and funny. I am a lot better at playing males, I don't know why. I feel a lot more comfortable playing them. I may not play them very well, but I like doing it.

When I first started RPing, I played pretty much all females, but somewhere along the line I switched. Now I play practically all male charries. I'm not sure if I have a forte type of character, either. I like playing quite a few different types with different personalities. I've played some evil charries, too.
I don't play as many cannon charries, though. I don't enjoy it as much, and I'm sure I'm not as good at it. I like making my own charries, exploring their personalities, histories, etc.

Though I've only been RPing for a short time, I pretty much have been reading and making up stories my whole life. I find I like the storyline from a guy's view better. Strange, since I'm a girl, but I think I can get a bit better mindset as a guy, not to mention I prefer action to talking. Typically, girls in stories have less to do with the whole taking part in battles thing. :P

I like my person to be relatively intelligent, but as potr said, I don't want to be a main person. I like being an antagonist or protagonist, though my favorite type of person is probably a mercenary. That may be because I love Boba Fett. And if it seems that everyone is taking one side, I like to take another just for spite. Hence my being one of about two people on the noble's side in Phantom Grey. :teehee:

Well, Kjan obviously isn't on the nobles' side, but he is of noble birth, if that makes you feel slightly less alone. :P

Technically the Phantom is also of noble birth :) Though he doesn't really count.

I can see how playing males would be easier because you don't have to worry about the Mary-Sue factor quite so much, but besides the Phantom and Will Turner I've never been quite as drawn to them as females. Also, I don't often find Mary-Sueishness a problem. My best character is probably Merrin, and she got a very respectable 19 on the Mary-Sue test :)
