I'd rather be mortal, though somedays I want to be immortal so I can see what the future will be like!

Murtagh's Misery wrote: That is a hard one. If you were to live forever you could learn alot and see so much. But when your friends die and you don't that would be pretty upsetting. I think if we had long lifes like the Dunidan that would be pretty cool because you could still learn alot of things, but you would still die.
By the way Rose, I saw your site, Evenstar Dreams. You did a good job on it. Interesting opinion, Murtagh's Misery. I've never thought about having a longer life instead of complete immortality just like the Dunadain, but I agree that this would be great. And thanks for your comment on my site. I'm glad you like it. Ashwise wrote: I'd rather be mortal, though somedays I want to be immortal so I can see what the future will be like!
Then a Dunadan kind of life would be somehow perfect for you as well. You would be living much longer, but you wouldn't suffer from losing all your friends as you would if you were completely immortal...

Okay, it's time for a new topic again:
Do you think Aragorn ever thought that Arwen would stay in Middle-Earth before he saw her at his coronation? Do you think he already sensed that when he rejected Eowyn's love in TTT or did he just do so as Arwen would always have a place in his heart although she might be unvailable for him forever and as he thought that he consequently could never love Eowyn honestly?

So really, I could have all the benifits of being immortal, but I could fall in love and become mortal. If you would have to give up your immortality, would you then also be willing to leave behind your family and all your "old" friends like Arwen had to do?
If I was truly in love, yes. (Sorry, I keep on forgetting to go here)
I think...I don't know. I think Aragorn never really liked Eowyn.

Probably not. Did you see that look of surprise when he saw there? I think he rejected Eowyn for both, though he reveals one of the reasons in ROTK.

@Lasbelingur: No problem. I was just curious...
@Ashwise: Yeah, I agree that he was really surprised when he saw Arwen in Gondor. But what did he think after Elrond's appearance in ROTK then, when he told him Arwen would probably be dying?
And concerning Aragorn/Eowyn: I think he perhaps hoped that Arwen would stay and didn't want to hurt Eowyn in case that would really happen. I guess he didn't want her to have false hope and so rejected her love right from the beginning...But I'm not sure about that...

What Aragorn felt for Eowyn was friendship, nothing more. And yeah, I think he was definitely surprised to see Arwen, because in his vision he saw she was dying (or something) so he would probably assume she would have gone to Valinor long ago.

He looked really shocked and and probably thought, this can't be happening, and I can't believed she stayed.

Yep, I agree that Aragorn was really surprised when Arwen turned up at his coronation.
I wonder what he thought after the meeting with Elrond before he left for the Path of the Death. Was it some kind of extra motivation for him to keep on fighting or did he think he had lost Arwen forever?

Well, I guess it helped him in his final decision to take over his role as King in the end, because he knew that the only way of saving Arwen would be fighting against Sauron and defeating him.

Yeah, plus it got him over the whole "I'm afraid of being King syndrome."

*at an I'm Afraid of Being King Anonymous meeting*
Aragorn: Hello, my name is Aragorn II son of Arathorn II, and I'm afraid of accepting the kingship of Gondor.
Everyone: Hello, Aragorn.
...I don't know where that came from.

^Lol! That was good!
How do you think Arwen would have coped with his "afraid-of-being-king" syndrome if she instead of Elrond had met him in RotK? I mean he already showed this tendency in the TTT dream sequence, but in RotK it got worse and worse...

I'm guessing she probably would've kept on being his cheerleader...if you'll pardon the rather, er, coarse expression. I'm just not sure how else to put it. But yeah, she probably would've just gone on with the whole "C'mon, Aragorn, you can do it! I believe in you!"
