I think so as well, but I really wonder if this would have been of any use. Aragorn seemed to be so afraid of his role as king, that he would have argued with everyone about it.
But yes, I think cheerleader is quite an appropriate expression, although when I read the line first, I was picturing Arwen in a cheerleader dress, dancing and waving with her hands, which would look very strange for an elf.

Probably she would have to beat him into liking it...

Me too, actually. The instant I thought of that, I tried to get it out of my head, but it didn't work. It stayed.

^Yep, you're right. I can't get the pic out of my head anymore as well!
@Ashwise: Interesting idea, although I've always thought Arwen would be too nice for that!

^Yep, I agree.
Okay, time for a new topic again!
Why do you like Arwen & Aragorn so much? What makes them such a special couple in your opinion?

OOH! Good one! I like them because...they're such a cute couple...that's all I can think of.

^I agree. Well, I think they're also connected by a kind of love that's stronger than for most other couples, so they're something special.

I think what makes Aragorn and Arwen such a special couple is all the trials they went through to be together, and the sacrifices they had to make. And also what you said about being "connected" - Tolkien didn't say they were, of course, but I think that they probably had a general idea of what the other was doing while Aragorn was gone on the quest - "mind-melding", as Sean Astin might call it. (or perhaps that's just my romantic side talking...) And also, they're just completely awesome because they're Tolkien's creation.

^Yep, I completely agree with you. I think the "mind-melding" worked really well in the movies and I think it's sad that Tolkien didn't include it in his books. It was a really good way to express the strength of their love.

They're also a good couple because they never gave up on each other.

Actually...he sorta did. Didn't you ever wonder why, when Elladan and Elrohir brought Aragorn the banner, he didn't question it? Sounds like mind-melding to me.

@Ashwise: Yeah, I agree. I didn't think about that before.
@Ánië Súrion: Oh, yes. You're right. How could I forget about that. I'll definitely have to re-read the books again. Are there actually other mind-melding parts in it? I can't think about any others right now...

Maybe he knew about the banner or he knew it was from Arwen.

I'm rereading it now but I'm only at the Council of Elrond. I'll let you know if I come across any other "mind-melding" spots. (gosh I love that term! kudos to Sean for coming up with it!)

Thanks. I didn't know that Sean came up with the term before we started discussing it. But I have to agree that it' s a great term.
Do you actually know any other movie couple that is as special as Arwen and Aragorn (I mean not only the mind-melding stuff, but also their trust in each other, their hopes, their sacrifices and the strength of their love)?
