My parents wouldn't be too impressed if they knew that I was going meet someone I'd met online. Well, my mum anyway. My dad understands a bit more, and would probably allow me, as long as I didn't go alone

But I might be meeting someone from AU around Easter If they get permiossion to come down here.

I didn't even know about the old post count system until now, but I've always wondered why people with more than 1000 posts could join this club, whereas you need to have much more posts for the "real" Valar rank.

You're so lucky. I'd like to meet some A-U members as well one day although I'm not quite sure what my parents would think about that.

Actually there used to be unities for the other ranks as well and there were only like.. ehhmm.. six or seven, and Vala with 1000 posts was the highest rank. Then people went post crazy and soon the board was crowded with Valar, lol!

Wow 1000 posts as the highest rank.
I've just checked the rank system and now you have to have more than 5500 post to become a Vala. Only 4480 more posts for me to go. I think it will take me ages to reach that rank.
When did the system change? Was it with the forum move?

Umm... yeah.. no... *searches poor memory* No actually it happened during the great A-U reformation which occured... er... around beginning of summer last year... perhaps...?
The rank thread posted in the Announcement section should give you a date!! Also you can find information on what else happened around that time!!

And it was a much smaller forum at that time, people weren't here every day, so it took a lot more time to get those 1000 posts!

It's strange to imagine the forum much smaller. I'm used to it that there's always someone online when I'm here. But I guess it was also much more personal. I mean, I hardly know many of our nearly 2,000 members really well...

Alright... then my memory isn't so miserably after all, lol.
I remember I wasn't much around over the summer... many people from the old forum didn't join the new one *sniffle* and everything had to be built from scratch.. new threads had to be posted in empty sub-forums etc. It was very different, actually... amazing how much have happened over such a short time.

And the great reformation that contained the count changing happened almost a year after the forum moved here. There were loads of people who had the top rank, and those at the top end said they wanted another rank to aim for. Rather than give us another rank, they gave us a whole new system It wasn't much different to how it is now when those changes were made. But I'm guessing that the old forum was more personal
