Wait...you are looking for a job in California? Or you are working at your job and then want to go to California?

Please keep on topic of roleplaying, not the everyday details of .... well... your everyday life.

That happens, a lot, but I guess people have to really have focus to keep an rp going on for around 50 pages. Something that I have really managed to do(not depending on me) at least once

Well, it's not entirely just focus - you have to have people who will spur a plot on if it's dying, or introduce a new one when it's needed. That's basically what's kept Star Crystal going - mostly LDM's ideas, but a couple of mine and yours and Reindeer's are in there too. And all your characters need to be unique and interesting, or you get bored of them

Curunir, I'm looking forward to the new FR one. I literally had a spasm when I saw your banner.
I WILL have the post of the month awards up as soon as I find the three hours needed to make them (most likely sometime next week).

Yeah, I'm anticipating it will be - first time I've used that particular character on A-U and I'm really looking forward to developing her a bit more. Not to mention the others in the intriguing cast we've got going.
I'm thinking we need another RPG Idea of the Month contest, I know there's brilliance out there for more awesome ones. Ellie I know has one he needs to post, and perhaps I shall follow my own example and get one up there. It's been a while since we've had a good one with all of us in it.

mmm, that would be fun. I think original plots seem to fare better at getting ppl on this thread involved together ... although I'm sure there are plenty of elements that we seem to commonly enjoy. Such as, say, well conceived plots that leave room for (almost) gratuituous violence
There's a question for you - what are the elements that are usually liked/successful?

Hmm, I would say original fantasy is pretty popular. It seems to work out well most of the time, if only because there are a lot more original fantasy rpgs started than others. I find I enjoy an rpg most when the plot is pretty loosely worked out, so there's a lot of room for alteration and development of characters. I'm going to be repetitive and use Star Crystal as an example (:P). That one started out with a couple lines as a plot - a dragonrider war between Renegades and Meiltha in a random fantasy world. That was it. It's lasted us for I believe 78 pages, almost entirely out of random plot ideas, and our characters have developed amazingly.

And if my blasted headaches will go away and let me concentrate on a story post, then Star Crystal will last for many more pages.
Original Fantasy definitely seems to be the most popular/successful. After that, PotC RPGs seem to be the best.

Oh yes, I'm sure it will it's had a bit of a break lately, but we'll probably get back into it soon.
As for PotC...I'm not sure. You really need people who are good at playing the characters they pick, and that's not as easy as it sounds. I've only tried playing Will once, and found him amazingly difficult, and even at Elizabeth I don't think I'm necessarily amazing. Potr's really the expert in that area, she can play anyone

I agree, original fantasy seems to be the most popular RP type. Other elements that are popular...
"Quest" plots usually are pretty popular. Sometimes romance seems to be popular too. I'm ok with romance, as long as it doesn't "take over" the RP. (Unless that's what the plot of the RP is about in the first place.) I also think that swords, knives, arrows, and other pointy objects are quite popular, and favored more than guns and the like. lol
