Swords require a whole lot more skill and such.. that could be a reason.

*nods in agreement* I think it can be more interesting to write about using a sword rather than a gun, too. I don't know that much about guns, so if my charrie's using one, it's usually something like, "Carson kept firing." lol If the charrie's using a sword, I'm able to give more details from what I've seen on movies.
That's not to say I don't like guns, though!

Oh Carson. The episode is on friday. Oh, I'm going to cry..but anyway, back to RPing.
With a gun, its aim, fire reload. Aim, fire, reload. There's no action involved. There are so many different things one could do with a sword.

With a sword, there also would need to be more depth to the character.

yes, you can throw a sword, use two swords at once, use a short sword, a long sword, curved sword, use a sword while riding a horse, flip your sword, parry with a sword, and so many other things!!!
Swords are a lot cooler.

mmmm... I think one can achieve equal depth with either weapon, it just depends how you write it. For example, the characters Will Turner and Jason Bourne can both be appealing. There are several different kinds of blades and different moves, true, but there are also many kinds of firearms, and different ways to use them or defend against them, if you know what you're doing. I think this forum tends to favor blades because they're used more commonly in movies that we collectively like.
Also, the "flashy" moves that we see in screened fights would most likely not be used in an actual sword fight, either because they would get a person killed, or because a simpler, more direct move would suffice.

^I agree that character depth can be achieved with any type of weapon- it just depends on the time period, situation, etc, to use the weapon that fits.
That's true about the "flashy" moves. I didn't think of that.
((no, please not Friday! It's too soon, Nauriel! *sobs and hugs Carson* lol))

Also, I think we're more acquainted with how to write the use of a sword. I personally have no clue how one handles a gun, what the parts are called, or how it works, so my writing skills there are limited. However, having watched myriad movies involving swordfighting - most of the multiple times - and been obsessed with fantasy books for at least the last four years if not more, I know significantly more about the use of a blade than I do a gun. Therefore I like writing with a sword more.

^ Excatly! I am also more into the sword/fantasy such movies and book for about...um...yes, 4 years, also, and I'm not the gun expert and I have never fired one either so I like to write about swords more than about pistols.
Unless I'm a pirate.
Also, AWE comes out in TWO DAYS!!!!!

Swords are more fun to RP with because I like fantasy so much better. I agree that the flashy moves arn't used in real life, but they are prettyand they did make me like swords better.

Oh, I just went and saw AWE!!! Anyone who hasn't, must, is all I have to say!
Though, there is some cool sword moves in that one...but the pistols are cool too.

I want to go see AWE! They actually have it at the little theater in my town.
Hm... about RPing... um... oh, I know. What's currently your favorite RP? I know this one's been asked before, but (for me anyway) favorites tend to change.
Right now my favorite would be the HYENA Institute for Mutants. It's just starting, and there are a lot of different directions it could go. There are also a lot of great RPers and characters in it.
