^Oh really? I didn't know there were any script fragments from that idea that survived, that's awesome! I hope you find it again.
We do seem to agree quite a lot, don't we? Funny how that works out.

Yep, I was surprised as well when I found them. I'll search for them at the weekend, because tomorrow I'll have my graduation plus ball and I still have to prepare quite much for it today.
And yes, we seem to have quite much in common. I'm always surprised when I find out how many similarities there are between other AU members and me. Sometimes I have even much more in common with them than with my RL friends.

It's a term invented by the brilliant Mr. Astin (actually describing what happened when his daughter's eyes met Elijah Wood's huge blue ones for the first time, but that's somewhat irrelevant in this case) that I've adapted to suit Aragorn and Arwen's mental connection. You know how they met in a dream in TTT, and how Aragorn seemed to know what Arwen's banner was in ROTK the book? That connection over impossible distances is my definition of mind-melding. Now that I think about it, it's actually quite similar to some twins' supposed mental connection. Or for another example, take Will and Elizabeth from POTC. They seemed to know what the other was going to do in the big battle during the whirlpool instinctively, and in a way they were fighting as a single unit. Thus, mind-melding. Does that at all make sense?
Yes, that makes alot of sense, thanks for explaining it!

Rose of Rivendell: It's okay, take your time. And I know just what you mean about finding people online who have more in common with you than people you know in real life.
Ashwise, you're welcome. I'm just glad you understood it, I was writing it at night when I was tired.

I also agree with you concerning the weight of her choice and the difficulty of motivating Aragorn. A few weeks ago I found a dialogue from one of those scenes in which Arwen should actually appear as a warrior princess on the net. It stressed her worries about Aragorn and her fears and partly underlined her character in this way, but on the other hand I also thought this couldn't be her. It partly inspired by fan fic about the two, as it made me think about the situation that should have been presented in this scene, but while writing my story, I came to think that Arwen could never be a warrior and decided to model her role more on PJ's ideas again... I'll search for the script again and post it here as soon as I'll find it...
Good luck finding it! It's hard to find a script to the deleted stuff!

Speaking of mind-melding: look what happens when you're very bored.
(I know this isn't the Willabeth thread but I threw that second one in for good measure, since they're so similar to A/A. )

I stumbled across it a while ago in a forum, which I actually wanted to join, but which has already been currently inactive at that time, so I hope the site still exists.... Ánië Súrion wrote: Speaking of mind-melding: look what happens when you're very bored. (I know this isn't the Willabeth thread but I threw that second one in for good measure, since they're so similar to A/A. ) Oh, what cute avvies! I really LOVE both ones! EDIT: I've found the battle script and an additional A/A script in a German LotR forum. Here are the two scripts: Arwen in Helm's Deep wrote: ARWEN - SCENE 2
ARWEN has defiantly arrived on the eve of Battle. ARAGORN has just discovered the identity of the cloaked archer.
ARAGORN (surprised) Arwen!
ARWEN I came to fight.
ARAGORN This is madness! Your immortality will not save you from an Orc blade.
ARWEN draws her side sword.
ARWEN I can look after myself as well as any Man!
ARAGORN reaches for ARWEN'S sword.
ARAGORN Give me that!
ARWEN holds the sword point to his throat.
ARWEN A solider never surrenders their weapon.
ARAGORN (angrily swatting sword out of the way) You are no soldier - in two hours this place will be besieged, crawling with orcs!
ARWEN I have lived through worse.
ARAGORN You know nothing of war.
ARWEN I know about loss.
-END-
Arwen's & Aragorn's first meeting wrote: ARAGORN & ARWEN
Whilst in Lothlorien, Aragorn comes upon Arwen who is singing by herself in a glade. Entranced, Elrond's daughter reminds him of the fabled Luthien, a legendary Elvish Princess who gave up her immortality so she could marry a mortal man.
(N.B: This sequence does not take place in the Ring Trilogy proper. It is described instead in Appendix (A) Part V, and has been freely adapted here for the purposes of this Audition.)
ARAGORN Luthien?
ARWEN Who are you? Why do you call me by that name?
ARAGORN Because ... forgive me Lady, I took you for the very Luthien of whom you sing. (pause) If you are not she, then you walk in her likeness.
ARWEN So many have said, yet her name is not mine. Though perhaps my fate will not be unlike hers. (pause) Who are you?
ARAGORN I am Aragorn, son of Arathorn.
ARWEN (nods) Islidur's heir, and lord of the Dunedain. (pause) Then we are kin, at least from afar. I am Arwen, Elrond's daughter.
ARAGORN (surprised) My lord Elrond's daughter? (pause) I dwelt in this house from childhood, yet I've heard no word of you.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED:
ARWEN You've lived no more than a score of years in Middle-earth. It's many times that since I've been here.
ARAGORN looks surprised, for she seems, if anything, younger than him.
ARWEN (laughs) Do not wonder. The children of the Eldar live long.
ARAGORN Yes. It's said, many spans the life of a man.
ARWEN I've already lived in this world so long that to me, you're but a yearling shoot next to a tree of many summers.
ARAGORN (sighs) I know it. I am mortal, and you are Elf kind.
ARWEN Yes - that is our fate. (pause) Why do you look at me so?
ARAGORN Because your beauty pierces my heart.
ARWEN Alas, then. For that, there can be no easy remedy.
ARAGORN I am not one so easily daunted.
ARWEN With your hope, I could also hope.

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!!! I'm in love with both those scenes. Would that I could see them onscreen...
Although I must admit, the "I can look after myself as well as any man" seems more suited to come out of Eowyn's mouth rather than Arwen's...but it's still a beautiful scene. They both are.
Oh, and thanks for the compliment. I quite enjoyed making those avvies.

Thank you, Rose!! I admit that the first scene doesn't seem to much like Arwen, but I love the second one. Thanks!!

You're welcome!
I must agree that I would love to see those scenes as well.
I really wonder how the first scene might have gone on. Do you think the second scene could be part of the sequence of which you can still find some pics? The one in which Arwen and Aragorn are shown as younger people? *goes of to search for the pic*
EDIT: I mean this scene:
Clicky

Thank you Rose!!
The script to the deleted/never made scenes with Arwen and Aragorn were really interesting to read. I would love to see them on screen, but as for now I've got a nice little movie inside my head with them.. aww..
But I can only agree with Ánië, "I can look after myself as well as any man." is quite the Eowyn line...

Woah, I think I've seen that pic somewhere! Is that from the first or second scene? It's spiffy either way, good job for finding it!

*knows double-posting is bad but MUST say this*
It's Aragorn and Arwen's wedding anniversary!!!
No, really. They were married on Mid-year's Day, according to Tolkien, and I did some checking and asking around and found out that in our time Mid-year's Day is equal to June 22nd. So, happy anniversary to them! (I celebrated by watching all the A/A scenes...it was nice. )
Edit: Viggo and Liv in the reunion scene (ROTK) are scary-good with their facial expressions...I swear they're communicating telepathically. Mind-melding in action!

Wow! Thanks for the info, Ánië! I didn't know that before. So, happy belated anniversary to Arwen & Aragorn from me as well. Watching all A/A scenes again sounds very good. Maybe I should do that as well this evening, or even start watching all movies again.
As far as I can remember, I have to agree with you on the mind-melding in the reunion scene. I'll definitely watch this scene now. I'm really interested in it...*goes off to watch RotK*
Btw: How do you think the first script might have gone on?
