lol, The Terrible Speller's club isn't necissarily about good spelling... even the title is spelt wrong, I'm pretty sure.

Anyway, that's off topic!

The Terrible Speller's Club... that sounds like it is about bad spelling.

Which club, Tur? The Grammatically Correct or The Terrible Spellers. Grammar and Spelling are really two different things... even though they are linked.

No one really answered my question, I believe. Does anyone go back and edit their RPG posts?

I edit mine if I need to- usually I catch spelling or typing mistakes right after I make them, so I change them right then. Usually I don't read back over my post unless it's a long one.

*Whew* I got done voting in all the RP award categories! I can't wait to see how who wins what!

@ Smeag- The correct grammar one. Not great at English, sadly...though, I am good at writing and such...and if it is needed, I will go back and edit my post

@ Eleyna-I can't wait either! :)

I'm not trying to brag when I say that my grammar and spelling have been assessed as being qualified to get into university. I just graduated grade 10. I've never had trouble with spelling, I've got a pretty photographic memory, and since I'm homeschooled and my dad is an English major grammar's always been a big thing. I'm a fanatic for it, and I do edit my posts if I see anything misspelled or mispunctuated.

Yeah, it should be The Terrible Spellers' Club. Moved the apostrophe.

W00t for Elenya! Has everybody voted? If not, you should :) We've got a couple things looking like they might tie right now. If they're still tied on the 27th I'll do a runoff but I'd like it if that wasn't necessary :P

You missed a comma in one of your sentences, Melda. :teehee:

*cough*

Anyway, yeah, I'm a huge stickler for syntax, punctuation, and spelling. I always run back through my posts at least once before posting them, and even then, I'll often spot a mistake later and edit it. I've even edited an RPG post two days later because I spotted one misspelled word. I blame it on my mom being an English teacher at my school (meaning that when I had her in 5th grade, I never got away with any mistakes on my English papers :annoyed2:) and my High School English teacher being a college professor. And, of course, it also helps that I've been reading since I was three, and have thus had the basic flow of the written language drilled into my head for essentially my whole life (though the fact that I grew up on British authors such as Lewis and Tolkien has given me some 'strange' spelling habits for a Texan). It bothers me when people make there/their/they're, your/you're, it's/its, or where/were/we're/wear mistakes, or misspell common words. Dictionary.com is your friend.

I think I'm pretty good at remembering most of my word forms. I'm have a terrible time remembering the its'it's, though. Microsoft Word is always correcting me on that one. lol
I think my grammar is usually pretty good, but I'm pretty sure I mess up in more complex sentences. I don't have too much of a problem with spelling, and if I'm not sure how to spell a word, I usually look it up. lol

Where? And is it a debatable one?

Hm... me? Well, I've never ever been the best speller. I mean, from preschool through 2nd or 3rd grade I was a a private christian school and the way they tought how to spell is that it's... oh, I forgot the word. But, they'd say it's correct because it may be pronounced the same, when it really wasn't. And then I switch schools to a place where it has to be spelled correct, and nearly failed! Then I switched schools again... and there they actually helped me with my spelling. So, I'm just like my dad, good at math, bad at grammer. Though rpging has helped me in alot.

And I'm not too picky on grammer errors... I'm not really picky on any grammer/spelling errors. So, yeah.

Okay, I think we're getting off of topic... back to talking about actually rpging? Or is this on topic because we're saying how rping has helped our grammer, and about how many times we edit our posts because of grammer/spelling errors?

*whispers* 'Grammar' is spelled with an 'a' before the 'r', not an 'e' ;)

Naw, I think this is on-topic. Lol.

I never had to practice spelling, ever...I can see a word once and remember it. My parents ask me how to spell things all the time :)

Lucky! It's the other way around with me and my parents! I ask them how to spell things all the time. Even strange words that I would only use in an rpg, and they just tell me how to spell and look at me weird, wondering why I needed to know how to spell that word!

I am about half way in between both of you. I ask, and they ask. Except the words are pretty unusual, and we usually are able to have pretty much the correct spelling of the word.

There should be a comma between "major" and "grammar's" :P. Dependent clause followed by independent clause. *could have sworn we had a little geeky smiley*

And Eruraina, I have a secret: I'm a terrible speller. I mean, I'm much better than I used to be, but I still struggle with things like double letters and diphthongs and whatnot. I am constantly checking my spelling in order to get it how y'all see it. Like I said before, Dictionary.com is actually a huge help. If you're not certain how to spell a word, just type it in and see if that's the correct spelling. If you don't get a result, tweak it until you do (or use Microsoft Word spell-check). After a few times of changing the spelling, you should remember to spell it the correct way.
