I do the same thing as PotR does. However, I do not understand why it would not be ok to use a tip. Isn't that what tips are for.. to be used?

No, Tur, that's not okay. The tip was for Eruraina and Eruraina only. You're just going to have to find your own method of spell-checking.
I kid. Of COURSE you can use it too, silly! Like smeag said, tips are to be used.

Lol, I found that quite funny, so I took the liberty of laughing at it, although the joke was meant for Turwaithiel - hope it's okay.
Spelling and grammar is quite essential when written words is the only way of communicating. I like the idea of a Spelling & Grammar club where people could come and get their spelling etc. checked! I might use it. Since English isn't my native language there's a couple of things I'm not completely sure of. But sometimes it might help to have to learn a language in order to remember the grammatical rules!

happy birthday!
i usually don't do spellcheck of anythign like that. I usually spell most things correctly, but those that i do not will be either typing errors, or something i thought was of similar likeness to the word and ppl will know what i'm talking about. enough to get my point across. yes, im lazy online

(Sweet! RPing in the RPer's club!!!)
Smeag pops out from behind the couch weating a green polka dotted birthday hat to the side of her head. Yelling "Happy Birthday!" Smeag tossed confetti into the air and proceeds to jump over the couch to await the arrival of the opening of Tur's blue, medium sized gift.

Turwaithiel grinned. "Open mine first!" She said eagerly.

"I gave her my present a few days ago," Smeag told Tur while pointing at Rain's new signature and avatar.

Is there a particular reason that we couldn't just have a separate thread for this RPG? The RPers Guild (to my understanding) is really more of a place for us to discuss RPing than it is a place for us to RP. That's what we have a whole RPG section (and Misc. Randomness) for. Just my two cents, really (as LDM is returning in 4 days, and something tells me her approach might be slightly less diplomatic and involving a bit more bloodshed).
So, Melda and I were wondering: What process does everyone go through when creating a new character for an RPG?
I know that personally history almost always comes first for me (often before I even have a name). I write a history that works well with the RPG (and is somewhat unique from everyone else's, if I can help it), and then write the character around that. Most of my characters have so much history (Kjan, especially) that isn't even in their bio, as I usually end up expanding a lot once the RPG starts. It's never in the RPG, nor does it really have much effect on anything that is in the RPG; it's just there for my own benefit.
So how about everyone else? What do y'all usually come up with first? Any background-freaks like me?

Well, Smeag, we should stop. Happy Birthday again, Rain! And my apologies, LDM!
Well, it depends. Sometimes I can make a charactor up right on the spot, bio and all, and then develop the charactor more as the RPG goes on. But, other times, I do do what you do, potr, and I do have a great backround and stuff.
*shrug*
It really depends on what my mood is and what the RPG is about.
