I could not agree with you more. You and I are basically on the same wavelength when it comes to Anette.
Pippi Longstocking from Hell I love that XD
I think also Tuomas writes, arranges, produces ect. So the sound, the style, the aura of Nightwish comes mainly from his writing. I'm not going to deny Tarja's voice, I love it. I have some of her solo work on my winamp. But in all in all terms of fitting in, Anette is in a league of her own. Her energy, her aura the way she carries herself is something magnetic.
I guess all I'm trying to say is, give her a chance. She may just surprise the naysayers and people who are unsure of her.

Got it, and I will. I can't wait to here the Poet and the Pendulum, because Ghost Love Score is one of my favorites. I love it! I'm looking forward to hearing the album eventually.
So Tuomas does the composing? (I always think of Mr. Tumnus) Nightwish is musically interesting, that's one of the reasons I find them worth listening to.

Tuomas writes, composes, arranges pretty much everything, even the vocals. Nightwish is his baby.
Only a couple of weeks now till the album gets released.

Yeah, and no matter how many times he kills himself in his songs (xD) NW are still alive, with an opera diva or Swedish pixie or just with four hot guys.
Sorry just felt like saying that
On the note of Tarja's solo work ... god I hate it. Popopera-thing is awful, she should stick to power metal or something, her voice is too good for radio-friendly pop songs.
BTW, any of you heard Beauty & The Beast version with Marco? (End of Innocence, go youtube it) - It's godlike. His voice makes me melt

I don't mind Tarja's solo work. It's not something I'm likely to listen to on a regular basis. But I don't hate it.
Marco's voice is just incredible. Easily one of the top male metal vocalists ever. Easily in my top three.

I can't get into it ... her voice is great but not the music.
Marco ♥ Along with ... Jari Maenpaa, Bruce Dickinson and well, himself.

Bruce goes without saying. He is the benchmark.
I may have to make it top 5 lol.
In no particular order:
Marco Hietala
Bruce Dickinson
Warrel Dane
Tobias Sammet
John Bush

Warrel ... yeah, he's got an awesome voice. But don't forget about "classical" guys a la Halford and Dio, they're awesome as well.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention Daniel Gildenlow, he makes me melt (he's even better at doing that than Marco but I know saying that is a sacrilege xD)
Oh well I guess I like drooling over men's voices. Metal men especially =D

Dio yes. Halford..Im afraid I'm gonna get burned at the stake, but I think he's over rated. Shouts way too much. Great frontman, great presence though. Even though Im not a fan of Priest.
Daniel Heiman ex-Lost Horizon vocalist is also pretty amazing. Fabio from Rhapsody. ZP Theart. Even people like Phil Anselmo, that guy has such an amazing voice when he chooses to use it.
We should have a Male Metal Vocalists thread lol.

Haha yeah. But then, let's make a female list as well^^
Vibeke Stene
Simone Simons
Floor Jansen
Anette Olzon
Annlouice from Diablo Swing Orchestra (whatever her surname might be lol)
Tarja Turunen
Sharon Den Adel
Um, five?
Send me to Hell but ... I don't like ZP Neither Fabio ... but Phil is awesome =D Another great dude would be Morten Veland (ex Tristania, Sirenia), growls only but god is he awesome. And we must not forget Johan Hegg

Now that we have a thread for our beloved guys...
Whaddya think of NW people's other projects?
I <3 Tarot, Brother Firetribe (Emppu's rock band) makes me giggle and For My Pain... (Tuomas) are a wee boring.
Seeing Nightwish & Tarot in December (had to give up the Amon Amarth gig though as I have school at 7am next day)

Tarot are amazing. I've not heard any Brother Firetribe yet.
For My Pain are aight, a bit too H.I.M/Sentenced for my tastes. But there okay. Darkwoods my Betrothed are pretty decent. And if they count..Amorphis (Tu's brothers band) are outstanding.
Gah you're so lucky. I doubt Tarot will tour here and Nightwish ain't due here till at least March.
Shame you're missing out on Amon Amarth

Yeah, I know.
Wanted to sing Dick on Fire >_>
I'll be taking photos/filming stuff 100% and Tarot will be releasing a live DVD so you can count on that
Oh yeah, Amorphis will be at the fest. as well, I just got some stuff of theirs that is waiting to be checked out. FMP are like HIM yeah. Better but still pretty boring, the vocalist is darn hot though.
Darkwoods My Bethroded! Yay I only heard one song of theirs (it was feat. on Sacrament of Wilderness single ^^) but I like them^^
... and NW are coming to Slovenia in March - Tuo said so (LOL this is gonna be a group concert. I know something like 6 or 7 fans around here xD)

Heh yeah, I'm always the "weird metalhead girl jumping around with her camera taking pcis of the band and other metalheads so she can drool over them"
Seriously though... I always bring tons of pictures & videos from gigs, whatever genre.
