Welcome to the club, Christian! I haven't been in as many RPs as I usually am since school started, but I'm a particular fan of fantasy and sci-fi ones.
^Agrees with potr. I've also seen some RPs where there's a set number of characters- there are only spots for 3 female characters, and only 5 characters total can have "magic" abilities, etc.

^I completely agree. For the most part, experienced [keyword 'experienced'] RPer's here can play a girl and not have her be MS-ish. Most people that are new to RPing and haven't really grasped how to do it yet tend to lean more towards MS. At least I did when I started...
Rules are a good way to try and prevent it from happening. Try and say no romance allowed - usually if there's romance, a MS will be lurking.

PotC rpgs are MS magnets, so basically what potr said holds true. If you're doing a fantasy rpg, don't divide the races in men, dwarves, and elves. In fact, exclude elves. No one wants to see a hero band comprised of ten dazzling and experienced female elves anyway.
Romance is one of the aspects that keeps rpers coming back, so forbidding it would be forbidding character development. Don't encourage it, though, by having a little section on the first post devoted to 'character pairings.'

*agrees with what everyone else is saying*
But, I think it's almost boring to choose whose going to have romance with who before the rpg even starts. Now there, you are going to start off with an MS character if that happens, I think. And it'd be more realistic if it just gradually developes that way and happens without planning and in a way that contributes to the plot.
With the new rpg Tur and I made, romance would contribute to the plot a bit... make it more complicated and simpler at the same time if you look at it from the right prospective...

Aye, I'm all for romance. I just dislike having random OCs show up as, say, Jack Sparrow's "one true love." OC pairings are fine by me, and I actually prefer to have romance in an original-universe RPG (as long as it's not mushy or rushed).

*nods to all that is being discussed here*'
Aye, to piggy-back what Rain said above, in our new RPG, romance is a major twist plot, and without it, most of the plot would be non-existant, or at least not as complex-ish.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and the suggestions as to which role play I should be in.
As to which genre I am interested in... I would have to say I would be open to all of them considering they had a good story.

For sure, Azura Welcome! I haven't seen you around much - what kind of RPGs are you normally in?

Well yeah, pretty much what Rain said. Although sometimes i'll join a different type.
I dont mind a bit of romance in RPs either.

I just posted in WnB, Eruraina.
Welcome, Azura!
I get to rejoice that I'm caught up in my homework. It required something like five hours (minimum) of straight, diligent work (and of course, that means no fun distractions like getting on the comp and reading all of your posts), but it's out of the way, and I now have time.
Rejoice, for the Reindeer is back.

Oh, by the way. in this club are you allowed to advertise an RP?? Because im having troubles getting more members for a new RP i've made, which confuses me because i think its got a great plot and everything.

I'm still here- I changed my name for the Halloween party, I'll change it back after I'm done. I've been busy lately- I have a big project due on Tuesday in one class, and a 5-10 page report due Wednesday in another. I've still been coming on A-U, but I think my creativity is sapped. lol But, after Ocober 31, some of my school shall be out of the way, and I shall be starting NaNoWriMo, which will hopefully bring back some creative juices. I'm really sorry about not posting much lately!
