I might be able to make most of the days, but I'll be gone for some of the days around Christmas.

Out of curiousity, how many of you actually read a person's history in their biography? I'm working on a charrie bio and I don't want it to be too long that people ignore it.

Only time I won't be here is Dec. 19-23 because we're going to DisneyLand. Even then, I'm hoping the hotel will have a computer that I can get on at least a few times a day. :)

I'll skim it if it's long-ish, but if it's REALLY long a lot of the time I'll just skip it. I do go back to read later, though, once we're into the RPG and I'm actually interested in the character. Generally I would say try to be concise and not make it too long.

I'll read a short history, and skim over a long one. If its uberly long, I'll usually skip it for the moment.

I read people's history, generally. It's interesting and it opens up more RPing possibilities.

Of course, it's more enjoyable to just write another character history of your own. :P

Lol, Aerlinn. I've used the same character once or twice in several RPGs (specifically post-NJO Star Wars ones), but the bio is generally at least partially different, normally significantly different. And I occasionally use the same name more than once as well.

I've used characters twice...the only one I recall currently is Eledhe, but I used to do it really frequently. Often it's a lot easier than coming up with a whole new character.

And guys, don't forget to mention our December festivities to anyone not in the Guild!

Since most of the names I use for my characters have no real meaning, I have no qualms about using them twice, Aerlinn. :)

Haha. I need to find a name that means 'grey-eyed' --then I can use it interchangeably between most of my characters.

That was the problem I had - I think I made my one OC's history far too long and I know that people don't like reading huge paragraphs... I'll go back and abridge it. :)

Thanks for your opinions, guys! :D

Most of my people are loosely based on people I know or have read about in books. So they are all different, but have some similar things. Like I've never RP'd a girl. I dunno if I'd be able to. I'd probably end up going too over the top to compensate for my nongirlyness. :P Usually they're average, youngish males and pretty much nondescript. And my names are all different too.

Smeagollum (poodle at this moment)

There is my list. ;) It really depends on what RPG I am in if I read someone's history or not and how much time I have on the computer. I try to read the histories normally, though.

I am back to smeagollum, Turr.

I will use my characters over again. Especially if I run into an RPG, and I am like... this person would be sooooo perfect!

Haha. Mostly, I just like to use the names over again.....like Jhoran, and Ayden, to name the two most reason that I've used multiple times...

w00t for you, Nurr. That makes two of us who are hesitant (to say the least) to play a female character. Of course, I will not. I refuse. I shall continue to play characters of my own gender despite everything that Melda tries.

And this is my 5000th post mark, btw.

Um....no. Definitely no.

Haha. After being the only boy among five kids (and the youngest, and thus the most malleable), I still wouldn't dare to haphazard a guess as to the workings of the female mind. Ever. Hence, I refuse to RP as one.

.....

That was disturbing.

I'm very decidedly anti-RPG-romance with a few exceptions--namely, if it's done by people I know can handle it. If it's poorly written, it just makes me groan.

And of course--I don't let any of my characters get themselves involved in it. :P Ever.

That's all I have to say about romance.
