I'm from the States and we've always celebrated Earth Day. I guess I thought they had it everywhere.

As for what I did for Earth day. Well, it's alittle hard to explain, but we played this game in my Foreign Language class called Lotto. It's like an international Bingo game between the Spaninsh and German class and we learned all these environmental words while we played. Pretty lame, I know but that's all I have really.

I can say "Save the forest" and "Protect the Environment" in French if that counts for anything.

Good for you Aerlinn!
Lately, I've been helping my mom in her garden. You see we just moved from a townhouse into a real house and it's really exciting because we're allowed to have a garden and beautiful plants in our yard. It's coming along really nicely and I can't wait for everything to bloom and light up our back yard.

Hmmmm i'd like to join. I care about the enviroment and the forests and i belive we're harming the planet. I don't belive global warming is compleatly the fault of man, (don't tell the politions that, if they think its thier fault then the'll pass laws to protect the enviroment) but can i still join.

That's very nice. I quite like having a garden as well. Especially because my rabbits can play in it in the summer. I love watching them when they're outside, but I also love having all the plants around me in the garden

Ok first things first, welcome all of you guys and thank you for your concern and support of our environment.
Ok, yesterday I went to Barnes and Nobles (it was a lovely adventure) and I came across the book that someone wrote. I'm afraid I forgot who he was but he was part of an Alaska something something. Anyways the book he wrote was The World Tomorrow and in it were snapshots of the world if we continue to destroy our planet. And if the world turns out to be the way he predicted (hopefully not), it's quite horrific. But he also detailed a list what humans (specifically governments) can do to prevent something like this from happening. It was some usual things like build more wind power stations (I'm ashamed to say I haven't seen one near where I live) and increase research funds for alternative fuel and decrease the consumption of fossil fuel. I just wanted to share this with you guys.

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet, but I've been doing a lot of research on ethanol-powered vehicles...Solar power, in my opinion, is an enormously bad idea. The makings of one solar panel[that's ONE, guys, not even enough to power an SUV] puts out more pollution than a nuclear power plant does in a day. On that note, nuclear power[while harmful in extensive use] is one of the cleanest forms of power we've come up with. Way more efficient than coal-burning and less harmful to the earth. Waste management, if the companies put their m inds to it, can be solved eventually also.

Back to ethanol...McDonalds uses a type of vegetable-based oil for making their french fries that, when used, is basically the same as ethanol and can be used in ethanol-fueled cars. It'll make your car smell like french fries, but it's better than the alternative deposits waste companies find for it and McDonalds will give it to you free, because right now they have to pay a load of money to get rid of it all.

There's my two cents for today. ~_^

That is very interesting Aliana Dawne and Caunion!

Here is the new code for the banner:

<a href="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b233/Tasare_Taurewen/Banners/TheEnviroCon.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b233/Tasare_Taurewen/Banners/TheEnviroCon.jpg" border="0" alt="Enviromentally Concerned"></a>

Welcome all new members. Sorry I haven't been on. I am taking 4 AP classes so I don't have a lot of time to do anything aside from homework.

Memorial Day is a day of rememberence for the soldiers who served in WWII. (May 31)
Veterans Day is the same for WWI. (Nov. 11)

WHOA! This club LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVES!!

Yay! :bounce:

Did anyone watch the Live Earth concerts this summer?? I did. Well sort of. It was a sketchy connection, but I at least got to listen to them!! :P

AND! Did EVERYONE hear???!! Al Gore and the UN Panel won the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE for their work on the environment and getting people educated!!

*SQUEEEEE*

Isn't that BRILLIANT?! Oh, I thought it was the coolest thing. :P

@Aerlinniel ó Eressëa: That sounds like a really cool vehicle! I want to do some research on that now. :P

I'm in a Politics of Western Europe class, and for the past week we've been doing a simulation of the German election. And I decided to be a politician in the Green party! (For those that don't know, their main priority and policy issues are the environment :P ) And what was funny, is the way the election turned out, the Green Party was the deciding factor as to what kind of government there would be. What kind of coalition. :P (It's a parlimentary government...sooo yeah)
SO, it was totally awesome, because we got to impose all of our environmentalist policies on all the other parties and told them that if they wanted us to align with them, they'd have to do everything WE wanted for the environment! XD  XD It was fun controlling the government. ;)

*evil laughter*

Well, I am glad that people are posting while I am away!

That sounds pretty cool MontanaBohemian! Alas, I did not see it. I do not watch much TV. :(

As for green cars, I am not very good at that. I drive a truck from the 70s that gets about 15 miles to the gallon, but is a very sexy car. It turns a lot of heads. It makes me feel good, but not the earth... a tradeoff...

I actually wanted to watch the Live Earth concerts, but my family decided to go on holiday that day, so I couldn't unfortunately.
I'm also very happy that Al Gore and the UN Panel won the Nobel Peace Prize. I think they really deserve it.
