Thou hast dredged up teh ESC thread!
WIIIIN.
I'm so excited to be IN Europe as this all goes down. And many thanks to teh Eru, I've been all over watching the finals. Except, of course, in the country that I'm living. XD I totally managed to NOT see either of the semi finals for Norway's entry. BUT, I got to see Sweden's. And I've been ALL over this since then.
NORGE FTW.
Of course, there are lots of others that I like. Sweden for example. Albania, Turkey, Moldova, Portugal, Armenia and Iceland.
YAY ESC!!!
NORGE FTW!!! *waves Norwegian flag*

Having only watched semi final part 1, I've got to express my most profound astonishment about the spectacular costumes, which in many cases seemed to attract attention from the fact that many of the artists could NOT sing! And I must say I was left in the greatest confusion and wonder as to why people don't send at least decent singers to a SONG contest.
Anyway, I can see how Denmark's entry, Brinck, is kind of a dark horse seeing how he can actually sing and go for very low-budget costume and show, but this year I'm actually quite pleased with our entry.
I liked Iceland too, by the way, she had an amazing voice... and then I didn't see the rest.
And unfortunately, I won't be at home to watch the final tomorrow, so you people gotta fill me in!

I'll tell ya what happened. Norway OWNED everyone. And by OWNED, I mean OWNED. I think we got points from every single country. And had at least 350 points by the end. I think a record was set. HA HA HA HA!!!
It was wild.
I enjoyed it very much. It was all sorts of silly, but still awesome. Cirque Du Soleil performed and it was amazing. And then there were all the wild ESC finalists.
NORGE FTW!! Mwa ha ha ha ha!!

Germany was absolutely embarrassing. I'm so ashamed of my country. That was probably the worst song, the worst singer and the worst performance there ever was in the ESC.
I liked Iceland, Malta and Estonia, though.

Forgot it was onl till about 15 minutes into the show. Missed the first two songs..though in retrospect I'm glad they were awful.
France made me want to gouge my ears out, so I almost lost interest in it completely.
The only songs I liked were Iceland, Portugal, Moldova and Norway. So I was pleased as hell to see Alexander win and win in spectacular fashion. I'm struggling to get the song out of my head...so annoyingly catchy XD

I'm sorry but Ukraine was the only proper Eurovision performance. (Although Germany's trousers and Dita were nearly there...) Eurovision is suppose to be crazy and insane but this year it seems like they were trying to make it all serious...
I agree with Graham Norton... that Norwegian boy needs a slap.. So annoyingly sickening....
I missed Terry this year It's just not the same....

I found ESC so cheezy sometimes... And this year was maybe the worse!
Some countries obviously bet more on the look of their short-dressed female singer than actually on the songs!
I wish the songs were all translated in our own langage on the screen so we can seize the total no-depth of some of them!

Here we have all the song translated. I'm not sure if it's good thing or not, sometimes it would better not to know wthat they're really singing
I think the winner was really annoying, the only song I liked was Estonia.
Finland's was horrible. They were one hit wonders in early 90s. Wish they would have stayed there...

You're lucky! Here, in France, we don't have them!
Fortunately, I can understand the low quality of the lyrics in english but the other langages, I can't...
I start right now to write this to the channel that airs ESC! That's a pity!

They don't translate the non-English lyrics in the UK either.
Doesn't really bother me though.

I'd hate it if all non-Swedish or non-English entries were subtitled here in Sweden. The foreign language only adds to the charm of the song, if you ask me. Music is a universal language so I don't need to understand what they're singing about to get the song, if you know what I mean.
I was really happy that Norway won. I would have been happy with either of the Nordic countries winning because I liked all of our entries this year.
The only complaint I have though is that there was NO suspense whatsoever. I knew that Norway was going to win after the third country casting their votes. It was way too predictable. Just ask MB what I thought, haha.

Actually, believe it or not... Eurovision is ultimately supposed to be about good quality music that represents each country. It's a Song Contest. Not a Performance Contest. Crazy entries have always existed but they've never dominated the contest nor have they ever rarely won. I was actually happy the ESC was a more serious event this year compared to last year's disaster.
And Ukraine's song was just awful. One of the worst songs in the history of ESC.

I can't say what I thought of the Ukraine entry on here. I'd get banned

I am of course very happy that Norway won. And in such a spectacular fashion. Can I just say that going into May 17 (Norway's National Day/Constitution Day) with said win made it all the much better. Ha ha ha ha!! I mean I would've been happy with like Iceland or Sweden or Moldova winning. But let's be honest, I'm all about Norway winning. Except OH WAIT. I won't be here next year. DAAAAMN. XD (Because I'd totally go next year if I was here )
I personally didn't find it or Alexander annoying. (I was a fan before I knew he was up for ESC) I love Graham Norton, but I'd slap him before I slapped Alexander. The song, yeah, is ridiculously catchy. OH well. I've had worse songs stuck in my head.
I guess there wasn't a whole lot of suspense in retrospect. I was all sorts of nervous for about half of it. Just because no one I want to win (especially from the very beginning) ever wins. SO I didn't want to jinx it. But yeah, like 10 minutes in to it, Eru knew it was gonna be Norway while I was like biting my nails. XD
I liked several of the entries though. Greece's just made me laugh the ENTIRE time.
Ukraine's I did not agree with at all. I didn't see it as ESC at all and I'm not even European. I'll tell you what bothered me most about it, it was those men in those absolutely ridiculous outfits.
I also think that the songs shouldn't be translated. For me it'd lose some of it's excitement. I mean I'd love to know what they were saying, but like Eru said, music is kind of universal. I love hearing songs that are sung in their native tongue.
