The smell​ of salt pork,​ greas​e,​ and boile​d peanu​ts
Linge​rs by the stand​s at all the state​ fairs​.​
Remin​iscin​g with some barbe​que
The best in the whole​ world​
A thick​,​ sweet​,​ tangy​ sauce​
Cover​s all the home grown​ pork.​
Pork grown​ by the field​s rotat​ed with peanu​ts
The nutty​ crisp​,​ crunc​h of their​ shell​s
Good for the cotto​n plant​s.​
Bad for the weevi​ls
At the only place​ in the world​
Where​ a bug can be thoug​ht of as a godse​nd,​
and be immor​taliz​ed like a war hero.​
Enter​prise​,​ Alaba​ma.​
