					| Hey This is a poem about Eowyn I wrote today. It doesn't really ryhme, but then I suppose not all poems have to ryhme It begins with her thinking about her feelings for Aragorn, then her decision to ride with the Rohirrim disguised as a man with Merry, then killing the Witchking, then waking seeing Aragorn and Eomer (and realising that Aragorn never really properly knew her), thennnn... she meets Faramir in the Houses of Healing. Now the end bit is very soppy, so beware ^_^
What is there to mourn? When nothing is lost,
 How can I grieve it?
Shattered particles of dreams fall through my hands like broken glass
But when they were never real,
How can they be wept over when they were never really mine?

How can cuts be tended to,
When I never suffered the cause?
A shadow cannot bite like a knife
And a small thought in the night cannot pierce like an arrow.
But I ache even though I've not been bruised
 The ache comes from within
And I cannot attend to it with any healer's cure.

He was everything that I ever dreamt of
 Everything that I ever needed
I sought love, but found a shadow instead
A man of dreams, he never loved me at all.
His heart belonged to the one in fair Imladris
Where everything that grows is beautiful and not barren
And the touch of the elf-maiden's hand is gentle
 And not sorrowful.

 Now what is left?
In this land of broken thoughts and women left behind
Left to weep while the men ride away to war
How can I seek vengeance for those I love
When I am left, left alone, left to cry, with nothing but memories of farewells.

But I can ride away in a man's disguise
With a halfling beside me, my equal in power
We both are those cast away, not allowed to go to battle
But we are riding away, riding with those who left us.

 Death
 And death all around
 Cries more mournful than songs
 In the field of Pelennor.
 A shadow-creature
Seeking darkness to cover the earth
 Threatening doom to him
The one to me dearer than a father.
 No man can kill him,
 But I am no man
 I am no man.

 Wakefulness now
After dark dreams and troubled sleep
 I see a light
I see the one who turned me away
I see another familiar face, contorted with worry
The one who always knew me, the one who always loved me
 Unlike my healer.
 I begin to realise
He never knew me at all.

Now in gardens fair and bright
I see a figure of grief and strength
I see in him a heart good, and just
And when he turns his eyes to me,
 I see a gaze I can trust.

We meet together each day afterward
Each day I begin to feel that
The man I thought I loved, I do not love.
Each minute I spend with this new companion
 Confirms this to me.
 Any doubts I formerly had,
Are cast away when he takes my hand.
His kiss chases away all the worries
And all the thoughts that I ever could have loved anyone but him.

 I'll cross the river
And take up a home in the fair woodlands
I'll dwell with him for the rest of my days
 And know no more grief
There is no sorrow now for me to face.

					| Hey... I have to tell you I usually don't like poetry that does not ryme (I find myself saying this a lot on here) But I liked this piece.
Actually in my mind it would make an excelent snipet from a book or something. Nice writing.

					| ......That. Is. Beautiful!!! That's my favorite kind of poetry to read, and it describes Eowyn so perfectly. Would you mind if I used some of the lines for my siggy or a banner? _________________ i'm back for a little! i'll see how this visit goes.

					| Thanks Jax! I really appreciate your comments.
And BT, thank you also, I'm super-glad that it can be classed as beautiful O_o Eek! Well, you can use some of the lines as long as you give me credit in your sig (Ooh aren't I a bossy little poet? )_________________
