| I never seriously considered having crushes on Silmarillion characters, but Maedhros was my favorite of the seven sons (but I don't think I could handle red hair, no offense to anyone who has it, it's pretty just not my taste). And hey, don't feel ashamed, Finrod was my favorite of his generation of Noldorin Princes. I never liked Turin, he always bugged me. |

I looked for him when I was at the beach. Of course I didn't really expect to find him since I live on the wrong continent. I'm sure it's the European shores he wanders. I spent more of my time calling out to Ossė, trying to convince him to make us some reallly big waves. The waves in the Gulf of Mexico are pathetic (at least everywhere I've been along it's shore). But I guess he'd probably stick to the European shores as well, if he come's near any mortal shores at all nowadays. And seeing as Valinor's been removed from the circles of the world that probably means that the maiar went with it.
So I have to be content with watching Earendil, the morning star, steer his coarse across the night sky. I find it fascinating to think that even in this age we can still see an actual Silmaril with our own eyes, if we just look up at the right time of night or morning.
P.S. Seeing as you like Silmfics and Maglor, have you read The Well? http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4884959/1/The_Well |

I'll admit it; I've looked too. Even though I know it's fictional and all, part of my incredibly sentimental self cannot bear to not sometimes wishsomething like I know it's not even remotely likely and all but it would be so amazing if it all existed! I'd never complain about life being pointless ever. again. I love pointlessness as long as it's filled with elves and enchantment and whatnot!. But no, no elves on these beaches either - or maybe they just prefer countries sunnier than the rather dreary Netherlands. I would.
The fic is beautiful - though I'm somewhat divided about it. I'm far from Christian, and mixing my favourite fandom with religion always makes me slightly uncomfortable. =/ I guess Tolkien was christian though, and the Athrabeth does hint that you could possibly add some christianity to any plottwists. But yeah. ^^ |
