I agree, the Southern feel and the music was what won me over in the first episode, especially Southern accents! :P The unintentionally funny lines and scenes were the second best though.

However, the acting was absolutely horrible in episode 2, the sex scenes way too forced and Anna Paquin annoyingly Mary Sue-ish - and seriously, her accent-coach must have had an off-day!
But we all have once in a while, don't we. :teehee:

I thought all the episodes of both seasons were super. I enjoyed every minute of it. But I'm not very picky either. I see it from a sheer entertainment point of view.

Woohoo! A True Blood board :bounce:! I'm a huge fan of the series, too ;).
Favorite characters in the show, in no particular order:
-Lafayette (SO glad Alan Ball and company decided to rewrite his fate in the books)

-Sam
-Eric
-Bill
-Tara
-Jason
-Godric (He was only in a few episodes, but the actor who played him was just phenomenal!)

Favorite characters in the books, in no particular order:
-Eric
-Sam
-Alcide
-Pam
-Bubba

I've only read the first four novels, so this list is pretty short :].

haven´t read the books, but I do enjoy the series!

fav characters?
Eric
Bill
Pam
Terry
&
Godric, for the short time he was there

^ Funny enough, Allan Hyde, who played Godric is Danish and Alex Skarsgard, is Swedish..
so yay! for the Scandinavians!

Amen sista!!

I have so much love for this show it's not even funny anymore. I haven't been disapointed with it yet...not even the much maligned Season 2 finale disapointed me....which I won't say anything about. No spoilers here.

Also yay for more Bubba love. I'd love to have seen him on the show, but I get why he isn't and can't be. But roll on Alcide! Obsessed? Naaaaaah not meh.

:teehee:

So do I - but I wasn't all entertained. :P

But hey, it's one episode, not the end of the world. I'm still on!

Zandaïn- Yes ma'am 8)! Alex has got to be one of the most gorgeous men I've ever seen :swoon:, and he's a great actor to boot! And Allan Hyde was just mindblowing as Godric! The guy is only in his mid-teens, if you can believe that!
You should read the books when you get a chance, they're great ! There are some considerable differences between them and the show,
***BOOK ONE SPOILER***
the biggest one being that Lafayette dies at the end of Dead Until Dark.
***End of Spoiler***
Eric is also portrayed in a more favorable light in the novels than he is in the show. Having read the first four books, I'd describe which of the two I prefer (the show or the books) like this: there are some aspects of the books that are better than the show, and some aspects of the show that are better than the books, so I like both more or less equally.

Me too, but I kind of understand why, as well. Bubba isn't exactly the smartest tool in the shed, so the person he's supposed to be might be seen in an unfavorable light, and his surviving family members most definitely don't want that. It would still be fun to have him, though :].

A question for you guys, just out of curiosity. What did you think of the whole Maryann/Tara/Sam/Eggs subplot in season two? On two True Blood forums I'm a member of, the majority opinion seems to be people didn't like it and thought it went on too long. I did, personally, because any storyline that involves Sam and Tara more is very welcome , but what did/do you guys think?

Re: the book spoilers...so if you don't want to know...LOOK AWAY NOW!!!

No....really. Don't say I didn't warn ya :P

Lafayette surviving in the series instead of being a murder victim was okay for me, as Nelsan just takes that character and runs with it. He's absolutely amazing. More Lafayette is perfectly fine with me.

Re: the Maryann subplot in Season 2. I loved it. I love Michelle Forbes and thought she did a marvellous job in what was in the books a very minor, but important role. Yay for more Tara and Sam and double yay for Sam being the hero at the end of the day. I just wish poor Sam would get a break, he needs some happiness.

He does . I read on one of those two forums I mentioned in my previous post that the positive reaction his performance got from viewers is what convinced Alan Ball & company to keep the character alive, rather than sticking to the book. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of Mr. Ellis and Lafayette in season three, and hopefully, future ones :]!

***SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON TWO FINALE***
About Maryann: totally agree with you on everything . The other thing I liked about it was the change in tone of the, erm, "parties" Maryann threw (other viewers complained that there were too many of them). It seemed to me that each one got progressively darker and uglier, until there was no fun to them at all, they were just twisted and horrifying (talking about the one that closed the season here), ***Shudders thinking about the nature of the one in the episode that preceded the finale***. Doing that did two important things, I think. First, it showed the gradual descent of Bon Temps' residents into debauchery and ugliness under Maryann's influence; very effective, I think. Finally, it showed how powerful and evil a creature Maryann truly was.

**MOAR SPOILERY TYPE THINGZ BELOW*

Deffo deffo deffo!! I'd heard the same things too, which just goes to show you Alan Ball listens to the fans. You've no doubt heard the goss' that Lafayette is getting himself a little lurve in Season 3, which is gonna be interesting to see.

Nail...meet head.
The orgies were becoming more and more debauched, as were people's behaviour. The descent into madness for the residents of Bon Temps was a gradual decline and it showed wonderfully even if the scenes themselves may have left a sour taste.

P.S I love your icon. Poor Sookie, though come Season 3 you'll need to add in Alcide to that >__>

Spoiler, spoiler...do not look
do not read
spoller, spoiler...beware!

I agree that the plot concerning Maryann/Tara/Sam/Eggs - might have drawn out a little, but it was necessary, to make a point!
Debauchery vs order :sly:

I could have done without Tara´s stupidity, when she made the choice to go back, to help Eggs! :duh:

And seriously...Deputy Sheriff and Jason to the rescue, ha ha, pleeeeease!
That happend faster than they could say...what!!!??

Looking forward to season 3, next year in June?..right?

I love Andy and Jason's interactions. They made such a great comic relief pair amidst the grimness.

Andy also had my line of the season with.
"It's diet coke with lime!" I love Andy lol

***Minor Spoilers For Season Three***
Quote:

I have heard that . According to an interview with Alan Ball posted on one of those two forums, it's more than that- it's a sure thing. That'll definitely be cool to see 8).

Quote:
P.S I love your icon. Poor Sookie, though come Season 3 you'll need to add in Alcide to that >__>
Thanks :). I know, tough choice, isn't it ;)? You're right, I will :-D. I wonder who they're going to cast to play him? I thought Billy Crudup might be a good choice, but he is in his forties, though he looks younger, so they'll probably try to find someone either in their twenties, or in their thirties but who passes as a guy in his twenties. I'm very, very curious about what they'll do .

Quote:

Me too 8). It was interesting how my view of them changed over this past season. Before, Jason was kind of a "Meh" character for me, and I couldn't stand Andy. Starting with the episode "Timebomb" though, I really began to like both of them a lot :].

Zandaïn-

Really? I thought including that was a good decision myself. For me, it showed that Maryann still had a bit of a hold on her, even though Bill and Sookie had managed to reverse most of it.
***SEASON TWO FINALE SPOILERS*** About Jason and Andy blundering in to try to disperse the revelers and get Maryann out of Gran's house: Yeah, that was kind of an "Oh please!" moment :]. But come on, you were cheering for them a little, weren't you ;)? I know I was 8).

Yes, I believe so. I'm looking forward to it as well .

:roflmao: amazing! you managed to get everybody in there!

^ yah, I realize that Maryann still had a hold on Tara, but anyways, phewy!..but done is done :duh:

- D.S Andy & Jason to the rescue?
..sure I was cheering them on, but we all knew where that was going!?
They didn´t really know any better, (not so Tara!)
And despite their good intentions, neither of them had the stamina to resist. :yeahright:

My choice for Alcide has always been Jeffrey Dean Morgan, but he falls into the looks a wee bit old for Sookie category. But still..he's MY Alcide XD
I have an (un)healthy obsession with the character

I've always liked Andy as a character, but Season 2 just made me love him completely. He's a bit of an oaf, but his heart is in the right place even if his brain isn't. Probably why he and Jason made such a hilarious team.

I loved the two-man seige on Grans place. If only for Jason's hilarious line.
