I'm very much approving of the Alcide casting, even if I can't get it out of my head that he was Flash Thompson XD.
Still he looks fine all ruggedy and bearded, I'm very happy with the Casting Gods.
Alfre...guh her and Nelsan in scenes together. My mind.....it's been blown.
I haven't seen The Tudors, so I dunno about his acting chops. But he's not visually who I see as Franklin. The casting call was for super sexy (or words to that effect) and well....not doin' it for me I'm afraid. The guy playing his hubby is hawt though.
But yeah, totally. The acting is the most important part. I'm now even more excited for Season 3 than I ever was before now.

Me too . Even without those IMDB pictures of him long haired and scruffy, I could still see him as Alcide :]. ***Must keep on the lookout for promos of him in the role so I can add him to my avatar*** .
I know, that's going to be something to watch . I can't wait =)!
He's a very good actor, and a Brit, to boot, though I don't know if they're going to let him keep his accent or have him use one that fits wherever he's supposed to be from, like they did with Stephen Moyer. Good point about him lacking the sexiness the casting calls for. Still, they did make him slightly younger. In the book Club Dead, a.k.a. "Book Three", Sookie describes him as looking as if he'd been "turned" when he was in his fifties or sixties. I'd wager James Frain is closer to late thirties, early forties, like Stephen Moyer now is.
Quote: The guy playing his hubby is hawt though. You mean the guy who's playing Vampire King Russell's "trophy husband", dont'cha ? But yes, I agree :]. That young man is to die for !
Yes, the acting is definitely the most important thing . And I'm thinking this new group of cast members has plenty of ability in that department . I know Alfre Woodard and James Frain certainly do :].

LOL maybe they got the casting of Franklin and Talbot confused XD
Seriously though..Season 3 is shaping up to be utterly bad@ss. Club Dead is such a fantastic book and guh Were's.
I do wonder though....without Bubba. *spoiler*
Who's gonna take out the Were at Merlottes?

It is . From spoilers I've read on another True Blood-centered forum, it sounds like it's going to be great .
Good question. Maybe that's how we'll be introduced to Alcide, rather than him being sent to Sookie's house by Eric? If that's what happens, Alcide might not kill him outright, just knock him out, and when he antagonizes her again at Club Dead, Alcide will take him out.
***Spoiler*** It's also possible they'll take that out entirely, along with the aftermath of Sookie and Alcide trying to conceal the body. I guess we'll see :].

I don't either. Something like the theory I posited would be much preferred, that way, we can still have all those events in the series :]. We'll see what they do, though.

I know, the wait is going to be torture ! But HBO's going to start rerunning season one on the 28th, so that might help a little :].

Season two has started here.
I found this which is sorta odd but a fun fan-gimmick - has anyone tried it?

Oh the drink? Yah it's been out in the States for a wee while now. They finally started shipping to the UK, so hopefully I'll be able to get a 4-pack of it soon.

Oooh, season two is a lot better than season one! I admit I actually lost interest during the last part of season one but now the show has won my full attention. I love that the plot and the characters are developing nicely. Sookie is really growing up, Bill's darker side has started showing, Sam's a shapeshifter, Jason has been saved (yay for Fellowship of the Sun that has finally become a part of the plot, after they've run the commercials in the show for all of season one - "when you show the gun, someone is going to fire it before the end") and Tara has hooked up with another mystery lady.
I ish happy!

*SPOILERS*
Eric is going to have a lover in series 3, I am not a happy book-loving-sookie-and-eric-shipping bunny.

Welcome to the thread 8)!
***SPOILERS***
I read about the new young lady, too. I wouldn't worry just yet, though. The last thing I read was she's going to play a new dancer and possibly Eric's lover, so until I read somewhere else that it's confirmed she's going to be both, I'll reserve judgment :]. What I will say though is if Alan Ball & company decide to throw that whole subplot out, I'll be a very, very unhappy camper B[. Deciding to spare Lafayette, making Tara more of a main character, giving us more background about Sam, and other big changes are fine with me, but doing that is way too much of a change B/! Hopefully, Alan Ball will rein in his affection for the Sookie/Bill love story at some point :/.
