Zoë’s eyelashes fluttered as Shiloh’s hand brushed her cheek and a small gasp escaped her lips. She then nodded her head in answer to his question.
“I-I’m fine.” She muttered tentatively. It wasn’t a lie either; she was always fine when he was around. “I was just thinking about my parents is all. They brought me here when I was a small girl. I guess I just wasn’t prepared for the memories.” She gazed up into his eyes and allowed a small smile to grace her lips.
-
Jack’s attention was drawn from a feathered hat at Tia’s words.
“Ah!” He exclaimed happily. “I’ve brought payment.” He ushered Pintel forward with the cage containing Jack the Monkey before taking it from him. “Look,” he pulled out his pistol, aimed and fired it at the furry creature. The shot scared Jack but didn’t harm him. “An un-dead monkey.”
-
Andrea couldn’t help but smile at Hector’s word play. She glanced over to the bed where he lay, still to weak to move around.
“An rud a lionas an tsuil lionann se an croi.” She said softly, her eyes twinkling. She knew it annoyed him to no end when she spoke in her native tongue and couldn’t help but throw the occasional phase at him for her own amusement.
“Aye,” He said in return impatiently. “Tha’ be all good an’ well, save for the fact tha’ I have no clue what ye just said.”
Drea’s simply smiled mischievously and went back to eavesdropping.
[[Sorry it's not much, not realy sure what to do with most of them at the moment. And for those who are wondering, here's the translation of what Drea said What fills the eye fills the heart. I thought it was fitting <3]]

[[I apologize if the throwing up part is a bit gross. XD And I will get to the other RP’s soon enough, I promise <3 Also I’m gonna try to speed up the Tia Dalma scene a little bit so that we can get the plotline moving along ]]
“Sam, no…” Edward reached for her, but she was already gone. She had literally slipped from his grasp and would probably never again have anything to do with him. But how could a decade of friendship just suddenly crumble? It was obvious that Edward had hurt Sam more than he would ever comprehend, yet it would taste a lie to say it was not what he had wanted. He wanted freedom. And being tied down to Sam would not give him that, would not quench his overwhelming desires for Varianna’s Spanish fire. Yet part of him felt bad, constant waves of guilt washing over his body. He had just taken the redhead’s glass heart and shattered it on the wooden planks of Tia’s shack, all because of his selfish wants and needs.
Edward suddenly felt violently ill, moving to lean over the railing of the porch as he emptied the contents of his stomach into the darkened river below. The vomit landed in the water with a sickening splash, but he wasn’t finished just yet. A few dry heaves before more started coming up. It was then that he felt a pair of familiar hands pulling his hair back out of his face, but he had no time to look as he leaned back over the edge and retched, gagging. Ed panted as it finally ended, but his stomach still felt as though someone had stretched their hand inside and had an iron grip around the organ. He tried to will away the aftertaste, wiping his mouth with the back of his dirtied sleeve, and closed his eyes tightly.
“She isn’t worth the pain, Ed,” Vari breathed, resting her head on the top of his shoulder. She inhaled deeply, taking in his scent of seawater and sweat and masculinity. “If she really loved ye, she wouldn’t have simply strutted away like that. Let her go…” Taking his hand, Vari pulled the engagement ring off of Edward’s finger and let it fall into the Pantano River below. The less he thought about Sam, the faster he would be over her - the sooner he could move on. Edward stared at the dark spot of water where the ring had disappeared before being pulled out of his daze by the brunette. She placed her hands on each side of his jaw, turning his face to meet hers. “Look at me,” Vari spoke softly, reading the emotions flashing through his eyes. Love, hurt, anger, confusion, regret… and a slight tinge of happiness. Vari felt her heart flutter. “Look at me. I am in love with you, mate. And I will never hurt ye, so long as ye don’t hurt me either… savvy?” She didn’t give him time to reply before leaning in and connecting their lips, uncaring that a faint taste of vomit was still present.
Green eyes were swallowed by dark lashes as Edward fell prey to Varianna’s charms. Their mouths seemed to melt together, fitting perfectly as though they had been made for each other. It was Vari who deepened the kiss, claiming everything that Ed had to offer. There was a slight tinge of cinnamon upon her tongue, the taste leaving Edward wanting more as she broke away, pulling gently at his bottom lip before stepping back. Adrenaline racing, blood flowing, thoughts flooding forth; Edward wasn’t sure his heart could take much more of this love game. He caught the seductress by her wrist and pulled her back into his arms, gazing down at her with half-lidded eyes. “You would walk away without another word?”
Vari simply shook her head. “Nay, but there’s nothing more to be spoken… an’ we’d best find a seat inside, as I’m curious to hear what Jack’s got up his sleeve.” She winked, taking his hand in hers and leading him back inside the shack, away from the dealings of the real world.
Tia Dalma hardly looked up as Vari and Edward joined the other pirates, too busy taking the caged monkey from Jack’s hands and inspecting it shortly. With a swift motion, she unlatched the prison and watched the creature run free up the wooden stairs, fading into the dark corridor above. “Da payment is fair.” With a sigh, she sat down, moving some of the items on the table out of the way so she could rest her elbows. Her eyes fell on the drawing of the key that was laid on the old surface; she recognized it almost instantly. Tia gave Will the slightest wink, obviously knowing something that he didn’t before speaking again. “Ah, the compass ya bartered from me, it cannot lead ya to dis… an’ so ya come to me wit’ questions. Yer key go to a chest, and is what lay inside da chest ya seek, don’t it?”
Robyn, from her seat on a barrel of god-knows-what, suddenly blurted out, “And what exactly is inside this chest?” Her sea-green eyes locked with the gypsy woman’s as the latter began smiling brightly. Tia leaned over the table as if trying to keep some sort of secret. In a hushed voice, she asked:
“Ya know of Davy Jones, yes? A man, of da sea. A great sailor until him run afoul of dat which vex all men…” Here she paused briefly. “…a woman. Him fell in love. See, it was a woman, as changing, and harsh, and untamable as da sea.”
“Sounds like she’s talking of you, A-Rose,” Vari laughed quietly in the back of the shack, nudging Aurora’s side with her elbow teasingly.
“Him never stopped loving her. But da pain it cause him, was too much to live wit’, but not enough to cause him to die… It was not wort’ feelin’ what small, fleetin’ joy life brings. An’ so, him carve out him heart, lock it away in a chest, and hide da chest from da world. Da key, he keep wit’ him at all times.” The entire room seemed to fall silent as each tried to comprehend what she had said. This venture involved Davy Jones, a still-beating heart, and a key that would lead them to the Dead Man’s Chest - wherever it might be.
Suddenly Tia jumped up, as if controlled by an unworldly power, taking Jack’s left hand and unwrapping the tattered cloth that had been covering it. She inspected the darkened skin there closely, closing her eyes in understanding. The Black Spot. Turning with an all-knowing look, she disappeared into the back room stacked with boxes and jars and bartered items. Before long, the obeah woman returned with a glass jar, filled to the brim with dirt. “Davy Jones cannot make port, cannot step on land but once every ten years. Land is where you are safe, Jack Sparrow, an’ so, you will carry land wit’ you.” She held out the jar, offering it to the pirate captain.
[[ Panneth, you can just add in Will’s line of “Seems we’ve a need to find Davy Jones” and then I think we can pretty much end the shack scene, the Black Pearl and Dowager Duchess crew can start getting ready to leave, and then Maribel & Co. & Edward & Vari (and whoever else wants to hang back) are going to stick around for a bit at Tia’s before heading out on MP’s ship the Hellbourne Privateer. AND --- If anyone is confused or needs to rewatch the movie, I’ve got the Tia Dalma Shack/scene we’re playing out right here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbO7qSc19iQ ]]

Keyara snapped the Bible shut, her eyes never leaving Norrington’s. She walked forward, heels clicking upon the soaked deck. Her hair had long come undone from its neat bun, curly tendrils becoming wet ringlets around her face and neck. Keyara peered over the railing at the sea below, dark waters churning angrily. “Neither kind nor swift - such storms as these have the tendency to signal an approaching hurricane. It appears we’ve picked a dreadful time to be out on the open sea.” Cursing their luck, she turned her back on James, but continued speaking to him. “Well, I suggest we simply ride out this storm as long as we can. If you would like to join me below deck for tea, we might discuss the orders Lord Beckett has given us.” She left the offer at that, part of her hoping that she wouldn’t be left alone below deck with her thoughts. The blonde brushed past both Gabriel and Luke with a soft and polite, “Pardon me, gentlemen.” Before disappearing on the stairs leading below deck.
Luke had to hold himself back from grabbing Keyara as she walked away, watching her hips sway in that feminine fashion. She was beautiful and drew not only the attention of Luke aboard the ship, but a few other officers as well. If this was going to turn into a battle for the Lady, then Luke was more than willing to fight to the death. He closed his eyes and raised up his head, letting the cold rain drench his face before turning to Gabriel. “Gabe, you have to help me… I, I want to tell her how I feel but she hardly even notices me. What am I to do?” He looked at his friend pleadingly, begging for some sort of answer that would solve all of his problems.
[[ Panneth, I think I’ve just come up with an idea that might bring Keyara and Gabe closer for the whole Isla Cruces thing - what if Luke makes Gabriel go talk to Keyara, and she ends up flirting with Gabriel instead of Luke ~ And when Luke goes to tell Keyara his true feelings, she laughs at him and rejects him. So maybe Gabe would start to fall for her charm, thus causing Luke to become angry with him…. Is that too confusing? ]]

[Ara, I adored the Ed/Vari part of your post <33]
Somehow the words didn't sound all too convincing, but as he studied Zoë’s features a bit longer he realized that she was alright, for the most part. That lingering sadness that had touched her eyes and the haunting gaze was gone, now there was just a far off look that was quickly returning to the beautiful blue that he knew so well.
"I don't anyone is really ever to face their past without proper warnings first." He returned the small smile while moving towards the table where everyone else was finding their seats. He waited for Zoë to sit before placing himself beside her all the while listening to Tia, Will, and the other pirates talking about what they had to do.
-----
Aurora-Rose snorted at the poke to her ribs, head tilting slightly back and to the side to look at her friend who had just come in to join them with Edward. The man looked a bit pale and sickly green but she did not mention anything. She would save her jokes and taunts for a later time. "Yer telling me. I did not know I was the stuff of legends..." A-Rose smirked, winked at Vari, and then returned her attention back to the topic at hand and that was the chest of Davy Jones.
Will sat in relative silence, just trying to take in everything that the woman was saying. So the picture of the key was what they needed to find the real key that would lead to a chest that held the most prized treasure; the heart of Davy Jone's. His elegant face twisted for a moment and only a moment before he spoke. “Seems we’ve a need to find Davy Jones”
"What a wonderful conclusion dear William..." A-Rose said straight to the man, an eyebrow raising before a grin stole across her features.
Will could only glare at the woman beside him before promptly ignoring her and seeing what the other pirates had to say.
-----
Dante found a certain solace amongst all the strange that made up Tia Dalma's shack. It was helpful that they were no longer in the tight confines of the actual shack but in the open air of the bayou. It was all slightly familiar to him and he basked in the warmth it brought to him, that along with Soren at his side made Dante one happy man.
"I wonder what they be talking about. Do you think Tia knows anything about the key?" Dante questioned idly, letting his eyes take in the surroundings and allowing the strange magic of Tia's home wash over him.
-----
[What a wicked plan Ara <33]
"My Lady..." Gabriel bowed his head as he was supposed to in the presence of the lady of the ship, though he kept his eyes trained on Luke's form. It took every ounce of strength inside of him to keep from bursting out laughing as Luke practically pounced on the blonde woman.
Damn, the boy had it bad. If Luke wasn't his friend then he would have found the scene all too pathetic, but it was actually kind of endearing if he had to say so himself. Once the lady Keyara was out of ear shot Gabe finally let the laughter break through.
"Well, the best solution is just to go right up to her and tell her how you feel. You'll never know if she will accept you or not if you don't go ask. Although if you'd like I can speak to her, put in a good word or two per say." Gabriel hadn't spoken too many words to Keyara before but he figured there was no time like now and it was for his friend. It was the least he could do since Luke had helped him many times before in tight spots and bouts of strange emotions.

(Introducing Cairbre in this post – Ara, is it okay if he’s sailed with MP’s crew? I needed to find a way to bring him here. He’ll probably end up joining Guin on the Pearl or the Duchess. =) And Morgaine will be joining Jack and the rest to help them find the chest. Hooray! )
Guin walked along with Sam towards Tia’s shack, her hand on the girl’s arm, supporting her. Guin’s feeling of light-headedness was slowly melting away; she had to be here for her friend. “I’m afraid we can’t,” she replied, gently. “Whatever has happened, fate seems to have deemed our place is here.” Pausing by the threshold of the entrance to the shack, she put her hands on Sam’s shoulders. “You cannot let this break you, Sam – no man is worth a broken heart, believe me when I say that. You don’t need him to be happy.” She gave a small, comforting smile. “There are better times ahead, I promise you.”
She knew that Sam would probably take some convincing. Ed had obviously meant a lot to her. But Guin was of the determined opinion that a woman could still live a fulfilled, happy life without a man by her side, and so she gave the advice of one who had lived a life, thus far, alone, completely independent.
“There’s no running away,” she continued softly. Her blue eyes never wavered in their direct gaze, filled with honesty and compassion. “And you shouldn’t feel the need to flee from this. The wrong that’s been done is his, and that’s the end of it.” She gave Sam’s arm a reassuring squeeze. “Now, let’s go inside.”
~~~
Eve had walked into the shack alongside Robyn before she could witness the scene between Vari and Ed; considering the confused feelings that had taken her heart captive, that was much for the best. She sat beside Robyn on the barrel, glancing around at the strange surroundings she found herself in, listening intently to the obeah witch’s words.
The woman’s tale sent a shiver down her spine. Something within her went cold as Tia spoke words of a carved out heart and a chest. Events seemed to have taken a very strange turn, and Eve felt ever so slightly apprehensive about the bizarre new world to which she found herself belonging.
She threw a sideways glance at Robyn, wondering where their voyage in Maribel’s crew would next take them.
~~~
Morgaine sat silently listening to Tia’s tale, her expression at once solemn and vivid with intensity. At last, it was taking place; something was about to begin. She could feel it in her very bones. Her flickering eyes followed the obeah witch as she held out the jar filled to the brim with dirt towards Jack Sparrow. His journey would take him to find the beating heart of Davy Jones, lying somewhere in a chest.
As the silence stretched out after Will’s comment, Morgaine finally interrupted her long silence, raising her head. Her hand strayed to the golden eagle pendant at her throat, as it always did when she was thinking something over. Her bracelets jingled and chimed as she did so. “Strange times, we live in.” Her voice was melodic, her Irish accent lilting. “Ever-changing.” She rose up from her seat, the strange material of her gown shimmering, seeming almost to hiss.
She went to Tia’s side, and idly glanced at Jack, not seeming very much impressed with him, although her gaze held no unpleasantness. This seemed like a man who many hazards would befall – one who needed all the help he could get. Morgaine’s mildly curious look did not rest on him for long, for she shortly turned to Tia.
“I will accompany this pirate captain and his crew, to give aid for their pursuit, if you so allow it, Tia,” she said. “The gift of the sight lends many unlooked-for directions, after all.”
~~~
Cairbre Eagle climbed out of the rowing boat that had delivered the crew of the Hellbourne Privateer to Tia’s shack. He had remained sitting there, listening to the sound of the river, long after Maribel and the rest had gone up the ladder, having needed a few moments to himself – time to think, an indulgence he had scarcely allowed himself on their journey.
He had joined MP and her crew in Port Royal; it was only a temporary arrangement. Cairbre had needed to get away from the port, fast, after some suspicions had been raised about him concerning his profession. He appeared, outwardly, like any other gentleman; well-dressed, smart, although lacking a powdered wig, an affectation which he despised. In fact, in all other aspects apart from the fact that he was a pirate, Cairbre was a gentleman; he had been raised in a wealthy household, and taught the manners of the gentry. But all this had not been enough to prevent some difficult questions coming to light, and so immediate departure had been necessary.
And so he was the only man in a crew of women. Cairbre had sailed with a woman captain before, though, Captain Guinevere Elliot of The Anne Boleyn. Being female had not prevented her from being an excellent leader. Until a few months ago, Cairbre had been her first mate on the ship, but he had had to make the unbearable choice to leave – to look for his younger sister, Rosalind. So he had been dropped off in Tortuga, where he had believed she would be.
He did not want to think about what had happened in Tortuga. It did not do to dwell on matters. Standing on the porch outside Tia’s shack, Cairbre put his hands in the pockets of his long, dark coat, and closed his eyes, taking a breath of air.
Something was going on inside that shack – he could hear voices coming from inside. There seemed to be quite a lot of people crammed into the small space, which was something to be wondered at. One particular voice from the doorway caused Cairbre to open his eyes in surprise.
It couldn’t be. It couldn’t be her.
He turned around, and saw Guinevere Elliot, his friend of ten long years, standing in the doorway, her arm around someone. There was no mistaking her fiery red hair framing her face, those blue eyes that shone even in the dark. She was clad in a sand-caked green dress, somehow managing to look as majestic and at ease as always.
“Guin!” He heard his own voice plucked forth from his throat, and he started forward, closing the gap between them swiftly. Guin’s head turned, and at once her eyes widened with recognition. She looked at the dark-haired man standing before her, his face bright with happiness.
“Cairbre? What on earth…” shaking her head, she darted forward to hug him in greeting. He hugged her back, locks of her hair brushing his cheek. “I thought I’d never see you again.” “What are you doing here?” “Mutiny on board The Anne Boleyn, I’m afraid. I’ve been taken in by another crew," Guin replied. She stepped back from Cairbre’s embrace, realising that Sam still stood beside her and was probably wondering what was going on. “Sam, this is my friend, Cairbre Eagle – and Cairbre, this is my new friend Sam Selby,” she said.
Cairbre inclined his head to Sam. “I’m pleased to meet you,” he said. Momentarily his gaze went back to Guin, hardly believing that she was here, and finding it impossible to take in that his ex-crew members had mutinied against their captain. How could they have done it? She had brought them more wealth and glory than they could ever accumulate without her.
[[ Right, 'tis absolutely fine with me, Goldy I'm sure he'll be with Guin no matter what ship he sails on, they're such a sweet couple <3 And I'm glad Morgaine is coming along, she could be like a sort of stand in for Tia, guiding the Pearl crew along their journey.
Also this is a bit of a bumpeth for those who haven't yet posted... We are making wonderful progress if I may add. ]]
Gibbs listened to the proceedings with more interest than he usually would. Of course he had heard this story before, but he had heard a different form of it.
"No, I heard it was the sea he had fallen in love with," the obeah priestess quickly corrected him and he sat back listening once more.
There was little beside stories that could have his attention so quickly. It was a fascination that began when he was very young and his father would tell him old sea tails before he went to bed and the fascination continued for the rest of his life. He began to collect tales like some pirates collected trinkets, they were strange knick knacks that he brought back from his travels and he shared them often with whoever was willing to listen.
He watched curiously as the woman tore the bandage from Jack's hand and instantly his stomach sunk to his shoes.
"The black spot!" He exclaimed crossing himself and doing a strange movement with his arms that was often said to be the ward for such a mark of evil.
Christine, who had come up behind him and left her scaled friend looked pale at the sight of it. He understood why too, they both had thought that the only thing Jack had needed saving from was those on the island and his own stupidity at times. Neither were quite ready to fight off the single most fearsome creature who pervaded many tales of old, none of which were pleasant.
"Oh, Jack." He heard the woman breathe behind him and if he had or the captain had turned around they would have noticed the worry written on her features. Christine, however, quickly schooled her features into some sort of calm that doubtlessly would not remained so for long. "What have you done?" She said as she spoke again, her voice still at a whisper so as not to bring notice to herself.
Inside though, she steeled her nerves for a rough adventure. Davy Jones was not to be taken lightly. But they would save their captain, and she wanted to help him so, even though she would cut out her own tongue before she admitted it.
[ I kind of fast-forwarded since the scene at Tia's was kinda at its end ]
Time had passed by swiftly as soon became clear what was to happen. The majority of the crew was now making preparations to set sail soon in order to help Captain Sparrow and the young Will Turner to find Davy Jones. Sam had tried to keep herself busy, but although her body was present, her mind was still raging over everything that had passed. No matter how many times she replayed all events in her head, she couldn't grasp what had gone wrong. What she had done wrong. Those happy days at the Pearl seemed years ago. When Edward had told her how much he loved her and when she still had believed that she would get married..
Once in a while she glanced at the happy couple. Their happiness could not be a greater contrast with her own mood. Every smile, kiss or flirtation seemed to shatter her heart to even smaller pieces.
Whatever Guin might say about forgetting Edward, and that no man was worth a broken heart, hardly came through to her. She was still in love with him, her heart still belonged to him and her soul yearned for him now she had so cruelly ended their relationship.
Being deep in thought, the redhead hardly noticed where she'd been walking and with a thud she walked in a fellow crew-mate.
"A-Rose.." Sam called out, throwing the brunette an apologizing look. "Sorry.. I didn't pay attention where I was walking." Again she glanced at Vari and Ed but then forced herself to turn back to Aurora-Rose. "I'm a little distracted," she managed to say with a fragile smile.
[ Sorry for the bad post.. I feel so uninspired. ]
---------------------
James gazed worriedly at the horizon, which had coloured pitch black. A first flash of lightening lightened up far away; threatening clouds loomed in the air. His concerned look changed in a mocking expression when he noticed two redcoats, who were pretending to be quite busy, but in fact were following Keyara's every move, watching her in adoration.
"I would rather not.." Norrington replied upon hearing Keyara's proposal which included tea and talk of that traitor Beckett. "But if you insist.."
He threw a last glance at the approaching thunderstorm but then turned. As he walked past the two man he muttered: "D*mned fools.." And while shaking his head in disbelief, he disappeared below deck.
It would taste a lie to say that Jack was feeling much better about his fortunes, he hadn’t actually been told much more than he already knew, however as he started to gather his crew he couldn’t help but feel as if things were perhaps coming together. He would think of something; he always did after all. He had his jar of dirt and the heading to where the Flying Dutchman could be found, all he had to do now was find the right sort of leverage that would get him through the next few days.
Perhaps having the whelp tagging along once more could come in handy. He thought to himself with a smirk.
He donned his usual bravado and flung an arm around Christine’s shoulders, pulling her closer to him and steering her out of the cabin and down into the waiting longboat.
“It’s good to have ye back with us ye know Chrissie, love.” He drawled, lowering his voice slightly. Not that he would admit it, but he felt awfully guilty about abandoning the poor girl like he had. He wouldn’t blame her if she never forgave him, but he still wanted to try and make amends, albeit in his own way.
-
Alanna was even less satisfied than Jack at the outcome of the meeting; she had absolutely no clue how she was going to work her way out of her deal with Jones and even less of an idea at what she and her crew were to do next. She had some thinking to do on the way back to the Duchess. Ideally she wanted to talk to Jack, but at a glance she could see he was otherwise engaged. Instead she turned to Carmel and Felix.
“Come along then.” She said gesturing for them to start making towards the door. “Unless you want to stay and make friends with the locals.’ The look on Carmel’s face indicated that to be the last thing she wanted to do and instead opted for heading outside, Felix following closely with a hand on the small of her back.
-
Zoe couldn’t help but hesitate as the rest of the crew started to leave. Something in the back of her mind was telling her to wait. She gently took hold of Shiloh’s hand and looked around them, noticing that a few crew members, including Varianna and Aurora-Rose, were also hesitating slightly. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a flash of blond that disappeared between the two women.
-
Andrea had to muffle a scream of surprise as she felt something small and fluffy jump onto her shoulder. She turned her head and a wave of relief rolled over her as she saw Jack’s small face looking at her with interest. She smiled and used a finger to scratch him behind the ear.
“Hello my darling, have you come to find us eh?” She cooed as if to a baby. “Did you miss your mummy? Did you?” She continued to scratch him and he let out a soft screech in reply, before spotting his master and hoping off her shoulder. A scraping of chairs from downstairs alerted her to activity in the room below and she listened out again.
“I think they’re leaving.” She said, turning her head to address Hector. She had a sudden craving to see exactly what was happening. She got up and moved towards the top of the staircase, stooping down so she had a slight view of the room. She saw Jack and most of the crew leaving before her gaze was drawn to two women standing near the stairs. Her heart leapt and performed several summersaults in her chest. She hadn’t seen them in years and before she knew what was happening, her bare feet were carefully descending the wooden stairs. She came to stand behind them as quietly as she could before addressing them softly, a smirk playing on her lips.
“Hello Vari, Rory. Long time, no see.”
Gibbs lagged behind the group as they exited. He cast another dubious glance around Tia's shack but gave her a grateful nod none the less. She had helped, or offered something like it to his friend and he was grateful, if a little suspicious.
Things didn't just, magically, go according to plan for the crew of the Pearl. It never had and he would think that the world was ending. He looked up at Jack with his arm around Christine and frowned. Maybe it was ending if those two were being so polite. He then noticed Christine's stiff manner and relaxed, maybe it would be alright.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Christine did indeed stiffen at the unfamiliar touch on her shoulder. It was not inherently Jack's fault that she was so jumpy, but it certainly did nothing to help the situation. Her career in Tortuga groomed her to be over sensitive to surprise contact as it rarely lead to good things. It was an instinct that had often helped her survive.
It was strange that Jack took it upon himself to talk to her. She had thought that he would ignore her presence completely. Jack Sparrow was not known for his ability to keep friends. She almost thought he'd think her pathetic for even coming along on this venture at all. The woman raised a brow and resisted over thinking whatever Jack was saying. The fact that he wasn't making a big show of his words meant, from her previous observations of his character, that he didn't want anything. Who knew, maybe he had perfected subtlety?
She decided to give the man the benefit of the doubt, silence hung in the air after his comment but the woman did not pull away from him in fear like she had previously, though she did remove his arm to look at his hand that was marred with the black spot. She frowned at it and reached into her sleeve to pull out a handkerchief.
"I wish you would be more careful, Jack," she said, though the words held no scoff there was no emotion in it that held friendship. She took the white piece of fabric and wrapped it so that the spot was hidden once more. Her head lifted and she gave him a small reassuring smile. It was here that she began to feel embarrassed and looked for something else to speak of. Her first thought was to speak and make welcome the newcomer Morgaine who had taken their longboat to get to the Pearl.
"Morgaine," she said with a friendly smile. "Where are you from? Surely you cannot have been with Tia Dalma long." She spoke casually and although she longed to be able to walk a little towards the girl . As it was, she was hyper aware of Jack's presence and she tried desperately to ignore it. She wanted to make amends, but she decided that Jack could just suffer a little longer.
[[Anddddddd…. We’re getting one step closer to Isla Cruces mates! ]]
“The black spot.” Vari felt her blood run cold the moment Gibbs began his ‘ritual’ and a chill coursed through her spine. She’d had no idea Jack was in this deep, that his luck turned this ill. And worse yet, he owed a due to Davy Jones. She suddenly felt momentarily sickened, gripping at the wooden railing of the stairs for support.
“Farewell, Jack, and may you find better fortune - I will have my crew follow yours, but in due time as I’ve some catching up to do with Tia and my daughter,” MP said, giving her goodbyes for the time being. She turned from the doorframe to look back at Vari, whose color was completely drained from her face.
“Are you all right?” Edward asked in concern, seeing that Vari was as white as a sheet. “Do you need to lie down?”
“She’s fine,” MP cut back in, striding across the now less-cramped shack and taking a seat by Tia at the table. “Just a bit of shock, I’m sure. Give her a moment and she’ll be all right.” Turning back to Tia, she pulled an emerald ring from her overcoat, the gem set in gold. “I’m afraid it’s all I’ve got for payment - the last of my parent’s belongings.”
Tia picked up the ring and pocketed it for safekeeping. “It will do. Now, what is it dat ya need from me?”
As Tia and Maribel fell into discussion, Vari felt the color slowly begin to return to her face, but her eyes remained locked on the doorway where the crew of the Pearl had disappeared through. She blinked several times as though they would come barging back in to declare it was simply some sort of mistake. But they never came. The brunette girl glanced over her shoulder as the sensation of being watched crept over her, and suddenly her name was held by a ghostly whisper drifting through the air. Vari spun around suddenly, taken aback by Andrea’s silent arrival. She had known the blonde when first joining Sparrow’s crew, and once more from the events that had taken place nigh a year ago; spun in the web of the tale of Isla de Muerta and the cursed treasure of Cortez himself. After the events that had unfolded there, Vari thought the woman to be dead. She took a frightened step backwards as though Andrea was naught but an illusion before backing into Edward’s chest.
“You… but how, I - I could’ve sworn ye was… - ” I must be seein’ things… either that or somethin’ odd is at work here…
“Are you feeling all right?” Edward asked again, this time no more than a breath in Vari’s ear. He braced his hands upon her shoulders, massaging them softly. “You’re acting rather strange.”
---------------------
Robyn turned to Eve as their captain talked to the obeah witch; it sounded as though they were truly in for an adventure, albeit a dangerous one at that. “I’ve only ever heard tales of Davy Jones,” she said, looking around at the items hanging from the shack’s ceiling. “From what I hear, he’s a force to be reckoned with. I’ve got an awful feeling that we stand no chance against him.” She spoke the last few words in a softer tone, dread filling up inside her. Robyn didn’t like the idea of going against the man who claimed to be the sea himself - it was bound to end badly for at least one, if not all, of them.
---------------------
[[Warning - while this may appear as mindless smut there’s actually a purpose to it, I promise. ]]
Soren breathed in the night air and the sort of strange magic that seemed to be all around them. He looked into Dante’s eyes, his own flickering with an unnatural light. The two had wandered into a small clearing amongst twisted and warped trees where the moonlight shone down in bright rays and fireflies danced about. Romantic wasn’t even the correct word for a place like this. “I’m sure Tia is quite capable of helping Jack locate the key. But enough talk of that. We’re finally alone…” He backed his lover up against one of the old trees and began nipping at his neck and throat teasingly while beginning to undo his breeches.
[[W00t! I’m so ready to start the whole thing with Keiran like we discussed before, Panneth my love <3 ]]
---------------------
Luke felt his heart pounding in his chest and he nodded eagerly at Gabriel’s words. “Aye, if you would I would be most grateful and indebted to you.” He smiled with that unmistakable lovestruck smile that really was pathetic, as Norrington blatantly pointed out. Luke glared at the man as he followed behind Keyara, jealousy welling up in his chest. He knew that James did not fancy the Lady in any way, yet part of him could not help but feel overprotective. “But wait until they’re done with tea, no matter how much I would love for you to go and interrupt them as it were. Please Gabe, I’m practically laying my heart in your hands right now, promise me you’ll speak with her right away?” So maybe pathetic was nothing compared to how he was acting at the moment. It was more like completely insane and blinded by desire. But Luke didn’t think he would honestly be able to go on without her in his life.
---------------------
Keyara made her way down the lit hallway, passing several rooms before arriving at one in particular and pushing the door open. Inside was an already prepared tea room of sorts, with a polished wood table and porcelain cups and silverware laid out neatly. The Lady sat herself on one of the chairs and motioned for James to take a seat across from her. “I understand you particularly do not enjoy my presence, but if we are to complete the assigned task Lord Beckett has trusted us with, then I propose somewhat of a truce between us.” Keyara said pointedly, eyes only briefly leaving James’ as she poured herself a cup of hot tea.
Aurora-Rose was in the midst of preparing herself for the journey to come, at least mentally, which was proving to be quite harder than she thought. A brief conversation with dear William and they had come to an agreement that she would be joining him on their quest to find Davy Jones. A silent pact was made that they would remain beside each other no matter what Jack decided to do once they had found the guider of souls.
While passing once more through the small home, A-Rose felt her body hitting something not exactly hard but not soft either and quite warm and red. Brows furrowed and eyes lifted to see what she had hit and it was to find a very distraught and somber looking Sam. "Hey Sammie..." A-Rose began but upon seeing the practically tear-filled eyes she sighed knowing exactly what the redhead was thinking about. Edward.
She had only joined the group when she had gotten out of the jail cell in port. It seemed that she had missed a lot of what happened amongst the crew but she bonded with everyone quickly and felt like she had knew them all forever. What must have slipped through A-Rose's eye was all the drama and love triangles, she had her own issues that things like this always tended to be missed by her. All the same A-Rose felt bad that Sam was going through what she was going through.
Without saying anything she just took the redhead into her arms and squeezed tightly placing a chaste kiss on her cheek. "It'll be okay..." Offering a smile she tipped her hat before continuing her pacing.
Aurora-Rose's thoughts moved from the impending journey to the past and that was just not a place she wanted to be right now. TO get rid of these thoughts she needed to find someone to talk to... The first person she saw was Vari standing near the doorway, the brunette was making her way to her friend when she felt a pair of eyes boring into the back of her skull. It seemed Vari was feeling the same because her friend turned to look at something over A-Rose's shoulder. Tilting her head she slowly turned so she too was looking behind her and what she saw was not something she expected to see.
"Holy hell! 'Drea? How can it be..." Nudging the gaping Vari she darted forward and ran right into the arms of a friend she did not think she would be seeing again after the crew had separated many months ago.
[[I will post Will again when he is necessary, right now he isn't important xD]]
Shiloh couldn't stay inside Tia's shack any longer, strange feelings were creeping up on him so he slipped out and into the fresh air. He took a deep breath and sighed, eyes tilting up to the cloud filled sky, the moonlight trying to pierce the thick plumes but unable to do so, creating a eerie scene. For the first time he wanted to be back on the ship and off of this land.
"Is this all you ever think about, getting into my pants?" Dante tried to act serious but it was hard when his lover was nipping at the most sensitive parts of his skin and that hand was much too close to him. It didn't help that the entire atmosphere was only enhancing the intimate mood between Soren and himself. "Nevermind, kiss me..." He turned his head so that his lips met those of the blond and he sighed pouring all of his love into the touch.
[[So am I Ara, so am I <333]]
Gabriel's amusement became concern for Luke. He had never seen the man like this and it was a bit disconcerting. The usually confident and playful man was practically begging him to put in a good word to Keyara, it was bordering pathetic. If he didn't know Luke as well as he did it would have been pathetic... instead it was almost endearing to see him so desperate to have Keyara know how he felt. There was no way that Gabriel could say no, not that he was going to anyways.
Reaching out the blond placed his hand on Luke's shoulder and squeezed gently. "You have my word, Luke. As soon as they are through their tea I will speak with the Lady immediately. I have been known for my charming words and she will be yours in no time." The teasing lilt returned in hopes of putting Luke at ease. This man was his friend and he would make sure that he didn't mess this up.
When Keyara left her engagement with Norrington then he would talk to the woman.
Morgaine accompanied the crew of the Pearl to their awaiting longboat, looking straight ahead of her, glancing neither left nor right, a small, tranquil smile resting on her features. She did not look over her shoulder back towards Tia’s shack; Morgaine did not believe in farewells. She and the obeah witch would meet again, in the near future; Tia had been kind to her, allowing her to stay in her home. Morgaine had enjoyed her company; it had been a relief, of sorts, to spend time with someone who did not treat her as an eccentric or some kind of madwoman. After all, Tia was more than slightly odd herself.
Suddenly, a voice broke into her thoughts, and Morgaine turned her head towards the person it belonged to. She met Christine’s smile with a kind smile of her own, and inclined her head ever so slightly in acknowledgement. Her gaze was unwavering, but not affronting. She liked to take the measure of people, to try and see beyond what was presented to the outside eye.
“I’m from Ireland,” she replied to Christine’s question, obligingly. “Indeed no, I’ve not dwelt with Tia more than a couple of months. She has been most welcoming to me – one day I hope to return her kindness. But for now my thanks must be a fitting tribute.”
Her eyes rested on the red-haired woman a couple of moments longer. Morgaine’s smile still lit up her features. There was something about her smile that was somewhat different from the ordinary expression of friendliness; it was radiant, going right to her eyes, filling them with light. And yet there was also the hint there that Morgaine knew more than the average new acquaintance; it was as if she already knew everyone about her quite well. But this was not at all an intrusive quality; it seemed natural to her, as indeed it was.
“Your name is Christine, is it not?” Morgaine enquired. “You are a friend of Captain Sparrow’s?” she nodded towards the man himself, who’s arm lay about Christine’s shoulders, before looking back at the girl. “Perhaps in time we too shall become good friends. I hope to gain the crew’s trust.” With these words her attention swiveled towards Gibbs. She had sensed his discomfort back in Tia’s shack, his uneasiness around the strange occult surroundings, the way he had crossed himself. She wondered how he would deal with her somewhat other-worldly presence on board the ship.
“Trust is an important thing amongst a good crew, isn’t it so?” she remarked generally. “It creates powerful bonds.”
~~~
Eve looked around as the pirates started to disperse, some of them leaving Tia’s shack to go back aboard their ships. It seemed that MP had decided to stay behind to talk with Tia, as well as to catch up with her newly found daughter Varianna, so that meant her crew would stay behind as well. Eve sat beside Robyn, still feeling a little uncomfortable with her present surroundings. Upon hearing her friend’s voice, she turned her head and nodded, threading her slender hands together on her lap, her fingernails biting into her skin, a sure sign of anxiety.
“It definitely doesn’t bode well when the stuff of legends and myths turns out to be frighteningly real,” she agreed. “I don’t know what to think of all of this. It seems we’re in for somewhat of an adventure – but it doesn’t look to be a very pleasant one.”
Sighing, she unknotted her hands, trying to stop herself worrying. “I’m sure we’ll be fine,” she continued, wanting to reassure herself as well as Robyn. “We just have to trust MP and stick together.”
She looked up, looking across the room to where Ed stood behind Vari, his hands on her shoulders. Eve felt an odd pang of something she didn’t quite know how to translate; if she’d been more skilled in such matters, she’d have known it for envy. She was still curious about who exactly this dark-haired man was, and now was her perfect chance to discover the answer to her question, now that he was out of earshot.
“Who is that man?” she whispered to Robyn, lowering her voice just in case. “Are you related to him in some way?”
~~~
Proceedings inside the shack seemed to have reached their end. Cairbre and Guinevere had gone inside to listen to the tail end of what was going on, and now most of the pirates crammed inside the tiny building seemed to be making their way back outside towards their ships. Guin was perched on the arm of a chair at the table, her hand resting gently on her forehead, as if trying to make sense of everything that had happened. It felt like events were moving far too fast; having found Cairbre again only added to her disorientation. She had feared, when he’d left her crew, that they’d never meet again. She’d known of his plan to look for Rosalind, but Guin knew that his younger sister probably didn’t want to be found, and her disappearance would lead Cairbre on a wild goose chase.
He still hadn’t told Guin if he’d found her or not, and Guin’s guess was not; he would have surely blurted out such news within minutes. Guin supposed that it was best to leave it, for now. At the present time, she was simply glad to see him, that they were together once more.
Cairbre stood behind her chair, leaning his arms on the backrest. He looked down at his friend, a smile warming his features. She glanced up, seeing his face directly above hers, and burst out laughing. It was still so good just to see him. “Fancy seeing you here,” she grinned, hopping off the chair. “Now, we’ve got to decide what to do. I suppose, more or less, I’m now a crewmate of The Duchess, so I’ll be going with that crew. What about you?”
“I arrived here on The Hellbourne Privateer, but it was only a temporary arrangement,” Cairbre replied. “I simply needed to get away from Port Royal – accursed place.” He gave a short laugh. “MP looks like she’s staying here anyway, so I’ll go with you.” He paused. “With your permission, of course, captain,” he added jokingly.
Guin rolled her eyes good-naturedly. “You mustn’t call me captain anymore,” she reproved him, “I’ve not got a ship to my name, not anymore. I must be plain Guinevere Elliot. And you’re not my first mate anymore.”
“Perhaps when the situation alters, that can be remedied,” Cairbre replied, a twinkle still in his eye. “You were born to be a captain, and I your lowly first mate. The lack of a ship changes nothing.”
Laughing, Guin gave him a small push. “Nonsensical man. You’ve not changed a bit.” She might have continued, when something caught her eye across the room; or rather, somebody. She spotted Sam looking rather forlorn, and her loyalty to the girl sparked a need to go over and comfort her. “Come on,” she said. Gently taking Cairbre’s wrist, she walked across the room towards Sam. Cairbre walked beside her, his footsteps longer and swifter than Guin’s.
“Sam!” Upon reaching the girl, Guin released Cairbre’s wrist, going to Sam’s side. Cairbre hovered, not quite knowing what to say. “We’re going to leave on The Duchess, are you coming with us?” Guin smiled at her friend, wanting to take her mind off Edward. She was still obviously dwelling on him. Guin knew she could not change that, but she could at least try to help her.
