As Rosalina collapsed against him, Darius lay back on the bed as she fell asleep in his arms. Drawing in a deep breath, the man tried to still the own frantic beating of his heart, hoping that this would not happen again.

"Rose, I can make you a broth," Gareth whispered to her, the worry not diminishing from his eyes.
"There is no need for you to do extra work," Calista murmured. He had already done enough in her mind and he just needed to relax---like he was always telling her to do. "I am just exhausted and need sleep," she added as she started to walk rather unsteadily back to her room. Growing all the more worried now, Gareth walked up to her and placing a hand on her shoulder to stop her, he quickly scooped her into his arms before she could protest. Carrying her back into her room, he gently laid her on the bed before covering her with the blanket. "I am going to make you a herbal drink," he told her softly.
"No," Calista whispered weakly. "There is no need to waste your effort or the herbs. I will be fine with a little rest..." she told him stubbornly. "Please, just let me sleep," she added faintly as her eyes fluttered close.

Too worried that Rosalina would suddenly have a relaspe if he fell asleep, Darius just decided to watch her rest, ready at a moment to either give her more of the herbal drink or get help again if need be.

Sitting at her side, Gareth simply monitored Calista while she slept, wanting to be sure that her condition did not worsen. At a moment's notice he was ready to make her a herbal brew, despite Calista's vehmenant protest. However, forcing her to drink it through brute strength was not appealing to him so he could only pray that with proper care and rest she would be able to recover properly---fearing that Rosalina's fate would befall her. Gently brushing his fingers along her forehead, Gareth merely checked her temperature again as the woman got some much needed sleep.

Hearing Rosalina cough, Darius felt himself tense but managed to relax ever so slightly when it wasn't as bad. When she called out for him, Darius leaned over and kissed her forehead lightly before taking her hand and giving it a gentle squeeze. "I'm here, Ro," he whispered.

Moaning in her sleep, Calista turned once on her side as she wrapped the blanket around her all the tighter, a sudden and slight chill had spread throughout her body. Sighing to himself, Gareth wrestled with the idea of waking her to get her to drink a medicinal brew before her symptoms became worse, worried that this was not some trivial matter that she was trying to pass it off as.

"Yes, I am," Darius told Rosalina softly with a gentle smile. "The spell is broken," he whispered as he gently caressed her cheek.

Seeing Calista shiver, Gareth knew that her fever was only getting worse and he wasn't proved wrong when he placed his hand lightly against her forehead for a third time. Sweat was starting to bead on her brow and her temperature had increased quickly over the short period of time. Rising from his seat, he prepared some herbs before boiling them in water. Mixing the broth together, he poured some of it a cup before walking over the bed and gently shook the sleeping woman to wake her.
"Rose, you need to drink this," he whispered to her as her lashes slowly fluttered open and she stared up at him with glassy eyes.
"I told you that I will be fine. There was no need for you to prepare a broth," she whispered before coughing a little as he helped her to sit.
"Love, your cold is only getting worse. Please, drink this," he whispered before sitting beside her and placing a kiss to her clammy forehead.

Smiling back at Rosalina, Darius returned her hug. "I am too," he whispered. "Being trapped in that form was utterly trying," he added. "But are you sure you are rested enough?" he asked, concern in his eyes.

Turning away from Gareth, Calista covered her mouth as she sneezed three times in a row and then broke into a coughing fit, which did not ease the mage's concerns any. Rubbing her back gently, he pulled her close as she turned her face away from him while she coughed. "Love, I know you don't like to inconvenience anyone but you need to take care of yourself. Please, if we don't take preventative measures, your cold could get so much worse---and could prove fatal. You witnessed what happened to Rosalina. I don't want to see you suffer through that," he whispered. "Now, please drink this," he said again.
Sighing softly, Calista took the cup from him and began to take a few sips, choking slightly as she did so.

Giving her a small nod, Darius kissed her cheek lightly before rising. "I'll go and get you some water to drink," he remarked as he turned to leave the room for a brief moment. Walking outside, he brought in some fresh water from the well before placing it in a cup and walking back into the room. "Here," Darius told her gently.

After Calista finished the herbal drink, Gareth took the cup from her and set it on the side before lying her back down again and lightly caressing her face.
"Maybe you should keep your distance," Calista whispered hoarsely. "I don't want you to get ill either," she added weakly.
"Banish that thought right there," Gareth remarked as covered her with the blanket. "I am going to take care of you," he told her stubbornly.

Sitting down at on the bed again, Darius remained silent as Rosalina drank the water. All he wanted was for her to get well.

Giving Gareth a weak smile, Calista knew she did not have the energy to argue with him. "Thank you," she whispered hoarsely. "But just don't get sick. Both of us ill won't do anyone any good," she added.
Chuckling at her comment, Gareth merely shook his head, thinking that she worried far too much over everyone and not enough about herself---which resulted in him worrying over her. "Just get some rest, love. I will be here if you need me," he remarked as he sat on the edge of her bed.

Taking the cup from Rosalina, Darius just set it down on the side. "You are welcome, my love," he remarked quietly. "Now just relax. I just want to be sure that you will be all right. Do not worry about anything, I will take care of you."

"Thank you, Gareth," Calista whispered as she reached out and took his hand. "For all of my life, you have been constant source of comfort and strength," she added.
"You are welcome, my dear," Gareth told her softly as he gently squeezed her hand. "Now get some rest, love. You need it," he whispered. Giving him an almost imperceptible nod and a small smile, Calista allowed her eyes to fall and surrendered herself to sleep once more.
