Darius was about to protest against Rosalina pushing herself when her sudden exclamation started him a bit and he quickly followed her gaze to the woman on the bed. Seeing Calista's face contort with pain and the trunk of her body jerk, Darius quickly approached her bedside worried she was having another seizure. Yet as he studied the symptoms, he realized that they seemed a bit different from the seizures he witness Rosalina have years ago. "This isn't a seizure," he said softly. "It's something else..." he added, trying to decide on the best course of treatment, fear in his eyes as her spasms grew worse.

Lying in bed, Gareth just stared up at the ceiling as memories of Calista flooded his mind. He remembered the day after he first arrived at Andestea and came to live with the young girl and her father. Everyone in the village seemed to treat him with a curious but cool indifference, the young girl's father included. He was sitting on a patch of grass outside of the family home staring out into the woods beyond, his spirit burdened by the sins of his past. After a few moments he became aware of the sound of light scampering feet and turned to see the young, blonde-haired child running up to him. "For you," she told him as she held a red rose out to him as she tilted her head to the side, an sparkle of innocence on her sweet face. A bit surprised by her openness and touched by the gesture of the little girl, he chuckled in spite of his sorrow and accepted the rose from her. "My thanks sweet maiden," with a warm smile he took her small hand to kiss it in a mock courtly manner. Pleased to have received more warmth from him than from her father, Calista squealed in delight as she threw her arms around his neck in an affectionate hug. Caught off guard, Gareth did not know how to respond to the actions of a little girl. It had been years since he had last embraced another living soul. Slowly though, he enveloped the child in a hug and held her tiny body close, feeling his bitterness slowly melting away.

"Then what is it?" Rosalina asked, fear and worry building in her. "Darius, whats wrong with her."

"I am not sure what it is," Darius whispered. "But this contortion is different from that of the seizures you had Ro," he whispered. "Maybe some herb will work or we can find something soft to put under her back, but I am not sure how to treat this."

Moaning softly in pain, Calista's head lolled to the side, though she did not fully come to. Among her back spasms, another spasm hit the muscular wall of her intestines, causing more pain to flood through the woman's body, though she could not tell anyone the origin of the agony. As the intestinal spasms continued and grew worse, a backflow of vomit once more lodged itself in the woman's throat and a low rasping emitted from her throat as she struggled to breathe.

Pulling back after a few moments, the young girl gazed up at Gareth with wide blue eyes. "Garry," she exclaimed happily and gave him a childish grin. Her father had told her his name but she had trouble pronouncing it---so Garry came out instead. Staring down at the sweet child, Gareth chuckled as he felt his eyes mist with tears. "My dear girl, you are a sweetheart," he whispered to her. Frowning in puzzlement at his tears, Calista reached for the mage's face and gently wrapped her small hands along his jaw. "Why so sad? Be happy! The world is so pretty! Come, I show you!" she remarked as she tugged at his hand willing him to his feet. Laughing, Gareth obliged her wishes and allowed her to lead him through the wooded paths that he had walked numerous times before as she pointed out some flower, bird or small creature that had always been there but he had never noticed before. True she only knew one of the many paths of the forests, but along that one had found more beauty in it than he had found in that entire woods years before. Later she made him stare up at the sky so they could pick out shapes in the clouds before showing him the beauty of stargazing at night. "Calista..." Gareth whispered as he now thought back on her lying motionless on the bed---with all life seeming to have left her body---leaving her an empty shell of the vibrant woman she was. "Please come back. I can't see the beauty of the world without you," he whispered before falling into a troubled sleep.

Hearing Calista gasp for breath, Darius quickly moved Calista on to her side to dislodge the vomit from her throat. Yet as small globs of vomit spattered to the floor, the thick ball of vomit and bile was so deeply lodged in her throat that it grew faster than she could expel it. As her choking grew worse, so too did her raspy gasps as she struggled to breathe and a bluish tint once more started to appear to her pale skin as the muscle spasms continued in her back, making it difficult for Darius to balance her on her side.

Hearing Rosalina's panic-stricken voice, Darius' mind frantically searched for a new method to help Calista. Nor did it ease his own worries as Calista's skin turned a darker blue. If her brain was starved of oxygen any more, it could result in permanent damage or even death. Maneuvering the woman so that her face was pointed toward the ground as he held her in his arm, he began to hit her back trying to see if that would dislodge the bile that was lodged deep within her throat. As he continued this method, more bile spattered from her mouth though the glob of vomit still remained wedged deeply in her throat and she still continued to choke. Moreover, the hitting on her back was only making the spasms more painful and if she could Calista would have screamed in sheer agony.

Rosalina started to pace frantackly, she had never seen such a thing as this happen before. "Darius." she said worried.

"Yes, Ro?" Darius asked through clenched teeth as this method didn't seem to be working either. "Come on," Darius whispered to Calista as he continued to try to practically force the vomit that was lodged in her throat from her. Coughing and sputtering as more vomit splattered from her lips, Calista still continued to choke on the vomit that was still being produced from her intestinal spasms and showed no signs of stopping as the precious moments wore on and she still struggled to breathe.

Following Rosalina's instructions, Darius carefully took Calista up in his arms and after climbing off of the bed, he gently laid her on the ground on her back and turned her head to the side as he was told. "What do you have in mind?" he asked her, a bit puzzled as Calista still continued to choke though her back spasms faded.

Rosalina took a deep breath before pushing up on the womans abdomon. She hoped it would push what ever was choking calista up and out.

As Rosalina pushed down on her abdomen, Calista gagged as a rather large glob of bile spilled from her lips and on to the floor. With her airway cleared, Calista drew in weak shallow breaths and the bluish tint slowly began to fade from her face.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Darius grabbed a cloth and gently wiped the woman's mouth before gently picking her up and laying her down on the bed again. "Good job, Ro" he said softly. "I think it may be best if you get some rest too," he added, concern for her in his eyes.

Rosalina stood, almost falling as she did, but she was able to get up. "Dary, I am fine. See, standing." she said and wobbled for a second.

Shaking his head, Darius gave Rosalina a small smile, worry for her clearly shining in his eyes. "Ro, you need to rest," he told her again. "Your body is exhausted," he added. "Please, just take it easy," he whispered as he wrapped an arm around her to support her. "You have already done enough work for the day."

Rosalina shook her head. "I'm fine." she said and stepped away from him. "See. We need to care for Calista right now." she said and went to the bed before her legs gave and she blacked out.
