Coughing slightly, Darius nodded briefly at her words before another soft groan passed from his lips. "Wretched vermin..." he muttered about the brown snake. He had always detested snakes and killed them whenever he could but this latest incident only made him hate them more. "Don't worry," he murmured weakly to Rosalina. "I'll be all right..."

Groaning softly as she felt the cool cloth on her forehead, Calista stirred slightly. "Gareth?" she murmured weakly as her lashes fluttered and her eyes opened to narrow slits.
"Your wound started to swell..." Gareth told her gently as he tenderly caressed her cheek while still holding the cool cloth to her forehead.

"Shh, my love. It...it will be all right..." Darius murmured as he weakly rubbed her back. "No...need to worry...you just...rest..."

Sighing softly, Calista nodded slightly at his words. "Gareth...you need to rest..." she whispered weakly as her eyes fluttered close again for a few minutes before she was able to force her eyelids open again. "I...I will be...all right..." she mumbled.
"Rose, you have a severe concussion. I can't rest. What if your symptoms become life threatening?" he whispered as she gazed up at him with dazed blue eyes.
"Please, my love..." Calista begged. "I don't want you to hurt yourself. I-I couldn't bear it if you did..." she whispered as her words started to slur together again.
"Shh. Don't try to speak now. Just save your strength." Gareth whispered to her as he lightly placed a finger to her lips.
"Rest..." Calista murmured again, once more trying to entreat him to rest.

Giving Rosalina a weak smile, Darius slowly raised his hand to lightly caress her face with his fingertips. "I'm still here, my love. There-there is no cause for tears..." he whispered. "Just take care of yourself, dearest..." he added his voice hoarse.

Ignoring Calista's ardent plea for him to rest, Gareth gently continue to tend to her wound. Sighing to herself, Calista found herself growing more discouraged. She loved Gareth for his attention and devotion to her, but she was worried for his health all the same. "Gareth, I will be fine..." she murmured. "Please take care of yourself."
"I cannot even begin to count the amount of times that I nearly lost you these past few days," Gareth replied softly, a serious gleam in his hazel-green eyes. "I will not leave your health to chance."
Sighing sadly to herself, Calista gave up the argument, already taxed from the feeble fight to tried to put up. As Gareth continued to tend to her, a new thought fluttered into her foggy mind and she felt a bit embarrassed that it took her so long to remember that there were others in the house. "How's Darius? Will he be all right? And what of Rosalina?" she croaked out as she stared up at the mage.
Shaking his head, as a thin smile crossed his face, Gareth gently reached out to caress Calista's cheeks again. It was just like her to be worried about everyone else when she needed to take care of herself. "Darius is weak, but he should survive the poison," Gareth responded quietly. "And Rosalina is coping with everything the best that she can."

"Ro..." Darius whispered weakly. "If you work yourself to hard...you could become sick again..."Darius managed to force out, the effort to keep speaking quickly taxing his strength. Suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his chest and he let out a groan of pain before his breaths started to come in short gaps and his skin turned pale.

"I need to see if they are all right," Calista murmured weakly as she tried to sit up. "I need to help them..." she whispered weakly despite the dizziness and exhaustion that she felt.
"No," Gareth told her sternly as he gently pushed her back down on the bed. "You need to rest, Rose. You are still weak from everything that has happened."
"But---"Calista started to protest when her blue eyes glazed over and she blankly stared up at the ceiling as she blacked out.
"Calista?" Gaerth whispered as he leaned over her, worry in his eyes. "Calista?!" he shouted as he began to tap the woman's pale cheeks, as he tried to rouse her.
"Ohhhhhhh...." she moaned loudly as her body started to convulse violently on the bed again, completely unaware of everything that was happening to her.

"Darius!!" Rosalina paled herself as she watched the man she love become worse. "GARETH!!" she called out, unsure of what to do. "SOMETHINGS WRONG!!!"

Panting heavily, Darius found it harder and harder to draw in a decent breath as his chest continued to tighten. A sheen of sweat began to appear over his pale face as a coldness began to seep through his limbs and a sense of dread started to pass over him.

"Calista!!!" Gareth yelled as her body began to shake, jerk and twist wildly again. "Not again!" he cried as she had her fourth seizure in a matter of days. His worries were not at all eased when bubbles of foam fizzled between her slightly parted lips. Grabbing a cloth he quickly tried to clear the foam from his mouth, praying that she would not start to choke. As he continued to work on Calista, he could hear Rosalina screaming for him, and he felt himself torn in two. He wanted to help the woman but he could not leave Calista's side now. Not when she was seizing and could possible choke to death. He knew that Calista would want him to check on Darius, but this time he would not obey her wishes---not when leaving her unattended would put her life at risk.

"Calista..." Darius whispered in reply as he continued to gasp for breath before letting out another groan of pain. He could only guess that something had happened to the mage's woman which was now encompassing all of the man's attention.

As her seizure progressed, Calista's convulsions only grew more violent as she continued to moan and twist upon the bed and Gareth could only make sure that she did not fall off or hurt herself worse. Inadvertently biting hard on her tongue, a sickening gurgling escaped from her throat as her mouth became filled with her own blood and she started to choke.
"Rose!" Gareth yelled in horror as he heard the strange rattling coming from her throat. Quickly turning the convulsing woman on her side, he held on to her to keep her from falling. Yet, despite this, only small droplets of blood sputtered from her lips as the sticky crimson liquid built up in her mouth and throat and blocked her airway...making it impossible for the woman to breathe.
"Come on, love. Cough it out!" Gareth shouted as he tried to rub her back while holding on to convulsing woman. Yet his ministrations did little to improve her condition and soon her blue eyes rolled to the back of her head as she continued to choke upon her own blood.

"Shhh, my beautiful Ro, it will be all right..." Darius muttered as he still continued to gasp for breath. Growing light-headed as more time passed, Darius drew in another labored breath before his eyes fluttered close and he slipped into unconsciousness.

"Calista, please breathe!" Gareth shouted as he still held on to the convulsing woman while hitting at her back, trying to force the blood from her throat. Please let her be all right, Gareth prayed silently hating how powerless he felt now.

Darius didn't respond as Rosalina pleaded with him to wake. As the moments passed by, his breathing grew more labored as his heartbeat started to slow.

After about five more minutes, Calista's convulsions diminished and finally ceased.
"Come on, love, cough it out," Gareth whispered as he continued to pat her back. A few minutes later, Calista gagged and streams of blood sputtered from her mouth and spattered on the ground.
Feeling his heart sink at the amount of blood spewing from her lips, Gareth could only pray that she would be all right as he continued to rub her back.
