Hearing Rosalina cry tore at Darius' heartstrings. "I'm sorry, Ro. But I don't know much in treating asthma," he added a bit sadly as he wrapped his arms around her as Calista still continued to convulse upon the bed. As she continued to shake, Calista inadvertently bit her tongue and blood started to build up in her mouth and slide down her throat, causing her to choke on her own blood.

Rosalina heard her sister choking and whimpered. "Darius, we have to save her." She said.

Biting his lip, Darius nodded and gently lifted Calista and turned her on her side. "Come on, my lady, cough it out..." he whispered to the convulsing woman as a slow trickle of blood flowed from her lips and on to the ground. Yet, the rate of blood did not flow from her lips fast enough and she still continued to choke.

After about five more minutes, Calista's convulsions ceased and Darius held her at an angle where she could cough out the blood.
Although the blood had been cleared from her throat, Calista still continued to gasp as she remained completely limp in Darius' arms as he laid her back down on the bed.

"I-I don't know," Darius responded softly before glancing down at the herbs he had gathered, wondering if it would be worth the risk to try another one. Yet, at the same time, he knew that they needed to try something soon as Calista’s wheezing became worse.

Hearing Rosalina's plea did nothing to help Darius' nerves. "All right, let's try this one," he murmured to himself. Picking up another berry, he squeezed the juice into her mouth and could only pray for a miracle.

Calista coughed as the juice slid down her throat but after a few minutes her gasping slowly decreased and her breathing became easier although she remained completely limp on the bed.

A week passed since Calista fell ill. After a few days her high fever broke and the woman began to recover from both her illness and concussion. However, a general weakness still lingered about her body though it was not life-threatening. As her condition improved, Calista tried to do as much of the housework as possible, including the cooking, in the hopes of giving Rosalina and Darius time to spend together. Yet her one regret was that she had never thanked the stranger that had helped her and her greatest fear that her husband would one day find her.

"March on the home of the shifter!" Julius commanded one of company of knights. When he returned home to find Calista missing, the man flew into a rage, beating the servants, children, animals and any that crossed his path. Since then he had his spies scour the land for his missing wife and had just received reports on her location. "When you find them, kill the others, but bring my wife back to me. I want to kill her with my bare hands for her treachery!" he commanded, feeling that only her death at his hands could avenge his wounded honor.
Nodding grimly the knights mounted their steeds and quickly rode out to Darius' abode.

rosalina sighed as she entered the small home. "cali, you need to be resting." She said. The younger of the two had gone out to gather berries and herbs, ones her sister described. Once Calista had woken, and her fever broke, Rosalina had asked her for lessons in healing and herbs. Calista had agreed of course.

Calista gave Rosalina a small smile. "Please don't worry, Ro. I'm all right," the older woman whispered. "Besides I feel terrible for having you and Darius do so much work," she added.

As the steeds of the company drew closer a rumbling could be heard in the distance. "Stay here," Darius told both women as he walked out of his door to greet the company. "Knights, why do you disturb me, for I have done nothing against your kind," Darius remarked, standing defiantly at the entrance of his home.
"We are sent under orders of the Lord Julius. Return his wife, and disappear from this land, and we will leave you in peace," the head explained, not wanting to cause additional bloodshed, even though he was disobeying an order.

Moving toward a window, Calista gazed out at the company, and knew instantly whom they were as she saw the standards billowing in the breeze. Her worst fear had come to pass. Julius had found her. Nearly fainting with fear, Calista could feel her heart begin to pound in her chest. She could not let Darius sacrifice himself for her. No, she would surrender herself to this company of knights and pray that her sister and her sister's love would be spared.

rosalina sighed, but as soon as the knights came she was about to stop darius, but he went out. fearing for her sister as well, Rosalina went to her. "Sit, its ok, They won't get you."

"I cannot let you take her," Darius remarked. "She is the sister of my love and I am bound to protect her to the end."
"The odds are not in your favor, shifter. Give over the Lord's lady and you and your love may depart in peace. Defy us and the two of you will die and the woman will still be taken."
"I fear that you underestimate me, sir. But your words are fair, so I will give you this one chance. Leave now and you and those in your company shall live."
"That cannot be done. The lady must come with us. Honor demands that our Lord be obeyed."
"If you take her back, she will die. You know this. As knights you are bound to defend those who cannot defend themselves."
"We are under the service of our lord. Vile though it may be, his order must be obeyed. Now stand aside!" the Head commanded as he drew his sword and the rest of his company did likewise.
"So be it," Darius remarked as he shifted into a dragon.

Calista only shook her head as Rosalina told her to sit. "I am going to surrender myself. I cannot have Darius sacrifice himself for me. For I am no longer the wife of a lord and I cannot allow you to lose your love so that I have a chance to remain free."
