Setting the brew on the side, Gareth sat at Rosalina's bedside. Calista came over to join him a few seconds later and Gareth reached out and gently pulled the woman on to his lap.
Sighing softly, Calista just leaned back against her mage, praying that her friend would be all right.

"Rest my love," Gareth whispered in her ear as he lightly rubbed his hands up and down her arms as she sat in his lap. "You need it," he added softly.

"I'm afraid for her," Calista whispered to Gareth, ignoring his comment for her to rest. "What if we are wrong and she doesn't get better?" she murmured.
"Shh...don't think like that, love. Both Darius and Rosalina will get well. You'll see..." he said softly as he pressed a loving kiss to her brow, all the while praying that his words were true.

"Rest," Gareth told Calista again as he just held her close. "Your body needs it, love," he whispered.
"I can't sleep," Calista murmured, her eyes still fixed on her friend. "I'm worried for her..." she whispered.
"Calista you had a fainting spell earlier---because you pushed yourself past your limit. Your worry is not going to do you or her any good. And what happens if you become worse? You won't be able to help anyone then," Gareth told her sternly as he wrapped his arms around her tighter.

"Sleep," Gareth whispered to her.
"Wake me up if something changes," Calista murmured before her eyes drooped and shut on their own.
Sighing softly, Gareth pressed a kiss to the top his lady's head before keeping a vigil on both women.

Calista slept on Gareth's lap for the remainder of the night. Meanwhile the mage slipped into a light sleep so that he could awaken in an instant if need be.

After several hours rosalina woke, her throat felt like it was burning, not burning, tearing. Scared she tried to call Gareth, but only a squeek came, and her throat hurt ten times more.

Awaking as he heard a squeak, Gareth slowly opened his eyes and groaned slightly at the stiffness in his body. Glancing down at Calista who remained asleep in his arms, Gareth smiled slightly before turning his attention to Rosalina. "Are you all right?" he asked her.

Gareth frowned when Rosalina only squeaked her response. Lifting Calista he gently laid the sleeping woman down on the bed when he went to Rosalina. "I can make something to ease the pain in your throat," he remarked before rummaging through Calista's room to see if she had any berries left that would have a numbing effect for the pain, hoping that Rosalina's vocal chords were not permanently damaged.
