Calista gazed up at Gareth, filling her heart break at the sight of his tears. She wanted to kiss his tears away, hold him or hug him but she was just too weak to move. "I-I will try..." she whispered. "By heaven...I promise you, I will try..." she murmured, praying that she would not let him down.

As Gareth ran for the healer, Calista closed her eyes as she drew in a ragged breath, desperately trying to hold on. Coughing again, a larger stream of blood flowed from her mouth, signifying much more severe internal damage from the illness.

A villager directed Gareth to the healer's abode.

Calista just remained on her bed, gasping for breath as her fever continued to rage. Moaning softly as she turned her head to the side, blood dripped from her mouth and slid on to her pillow, forming a small crimson pool.

Hearing a loud banging at his door the healer quickly moved to answer it, surprised to see a stranger standing outside. "Can I help you sir?" he asked softly.

Calista continued to cough in bed and more blood continued to pour from her lips and collect at the fairly large puddle that was forming on her pillow.

"Lady Calista? She's here?" the healer asked shocked. He remembered the sweet blonde haired woman well. She and her sister had been the sweethearts of the village. The entire village had been saddened when she was sent to marry Lord Julius and more disturbed when rumors started circulating on how Julius beat his wife---knowing that Calista had been the target. The sadness only deepened when compassionate Rosalina had gone to live with her sister and each villager felt they would never see either lady again.

Moaning softly in bed, Calista's breathing only grew more ragged as her lungs struggled to take in air.

The healer felt his heart break as he listened to Gareth's tale. "So the rumors were true..." he muttered sadly. "Her father soon came to regret sending her away but by then it was too late and I suspect the suspicion of what was happening to her finally killed him." When Gareth offered him money for his help, the healer only shook his head. "Lady Calista and Lady Rosalina are dear to us. I could not take your money in good conscience when you are only trying to help her," he remarked before he went to grab his pack of healing herbs. "Take me to her quickly."

Calista's breathing grew worse as her hold on life weakened.

Gareth nodded and quickly lead the man back to the keep. As he did he told him about Darius so he was aware the man was a shifter.

The healer froze slightly when he found out that Darius was a shifter, not liking much of his kind. Sighing to himself, the healer just continued to follow Gareth, hoping that he would not run into him.

Calista began to weakly gasp for breath and a strange gurgling started to come from her throat.

Eventually they were back, and gareth took him to the womans room, becoming white when he saw the blood.

"By heaven!" the healer exclaimed as he saw the pool of blood on her pillow. He knew instantly what illness this woman was suffering from by the green tint on her skin but it seemed to be in its advance stages, just judging how much she had bled out. "How long as has she been ill?" he asked Gareth, not looking at the man as he rushed over to the woman's bedside.

Unaware that Gareth had returned with the healer and too weak to fight any longer, Calista's breathing ceased and her heart stilled as she surrendered to the darkness.
