"My lady," the healer spoke gently to Calista as he removed the pouch of herbs after her breathing regulated. "Will you be able to swallow some of this elixir if I drip it slowly into your mouth? It should stop your cough," he told her softly. Glancing up at the healer with glazed eyes, Calista nodded weakly and opened her lips slightly as the healer dripped some of the healing brew into her mouth and the woman swallowed it weakly.

A few seconds later, Calista's eyes widened as the muscles in her throat tightened, cutting off her air. Slumping against Gareth as she gasped for breath, the young woman tried to raise a hand to her throat but her arm just fell back instead. Gazing up at Gareth with fear-filled eyes, Calista could feel her heart thumping irregularly in her chest as her pulse raced with shallow beats.

Calista's gasping grew more ragged as the woman strained for air, her breathing shallow. Her pulse beat rapidly yet was weak and her chest began to hurt.

Cursing, the healer dropped the vial as he tried to aid the woman. "She was allergic to something in the elixir..." he murmured to Gareth. "It's Anaphylaxis," he added as he glanced back at the pale, clammy face of the gasping woman, paling all the more as he realized that was starting to go into shock.

As her blood pressure suddenly plummeted, Calista quickly grew light-headed and saw the world swim before her eyes. Gasping for breath, the woman's lashes started to flicker rapidly as her glazed blue eyes began to roll.
"My lady!" the healer cried out in horror. "Stay with me," he told her urgently as he noticed the woman's rolling blue orbs. "Stay with me," he told her again as he patted her pale, clammy cheek, its coolness unnerving him further.
"She's going into shock," the healer told Gareth, his voice tight as he made sure that she was laying flat on her back before loosening her dress slightly and wrapping her in a blanket. "We need to keep her warm," he told the mage. "And keep her breathing and conscious," he added, noticing that she was on the verge of blacking out.

Gareth nodded and took her hand. "COme on Calista." He put his other hand on her chest to use the breathing spell.

Calista's breathing eased a little as Gareth used the breathing spell on her and she weakly gripped his hand. Yet her pressure still remained low and did not seem to rise. "Oooh..." the woman moaned softly as her blue eyes rolled back and her lashes fluttered close; her grip on the mage's hand slackening as her entire body went limp.
"My lady!" the healer cried out as she fainted away before he leaned over and quickly checked her pulse.

Wincing at her rapid yet faint pulse, the healer knew that the woman was quickly weakening. Feeling Gareth's eyes upon him, the healer quickly found some old containers and balancing them on the bed, he elevated Calsita's feet approximately twelve inches, hoping that would raise her pressure.

The healer nodded slowly. "Yes, but it is fading quickly," he remarked, worry in his eyes as the woman still did not regain consciousness.

"We need to..." the healer started to say but the words died on his lips as her pulse faded away into nothingness as her heart ceased to beat. Not wasting any time, the healer immediately started to perform compressions on her, knowing he could never forgive himself if Calista died at his hand.
