Hi, all! I started this, so that we could exchange beauty tips and recipes for home made beauty recipes to bring out our inner elf! I think this will be fun! It may help me out because I'm not aloud to wear make up because it isn't "natural" but if I have a natural recipe or something, I just might be able to get away with it. See you around!

Such a good idea for a thread. I frequently have to slap on a ton makeup for my musicals, shows etc and my skin really doesn't benefit from it sometimes- So I'm all for Natural alternatives!
I heard in the 1940's/50s that ladies used to pinch or even prick their cheeks with needles to give the impression of wearing blusher- though the needle trick sounds far too painful and silly for me.
A lazy/ natural trick I do use all the time is to wash my hair at night, put mousse or volumising spray into it and then go to sleep with it wet. Then in the morning when I wake up I have a lovely head of tousled curls, without any need to use tongs or straighteners!

Thanks! Goodness! I knew about them pinching their cheeks, but needles? I don't think I'll be doing that anytime soon! Ohhhhh!!!! That's a good idea!!! I'll have to try it sometime! Do you put it in a ponytail/bun or just leave it down? My hair is really thick, so even if I don't have it pulled back after a shower, it'll still be wet in the morning! It's good that you don't use curlers or anything like that, because too much heat is not good for hair, it dries it out I think... Here's the first recipe! Real simple easy, and it tastes good! So, what you do it get some sugar, a little bit is all you need, then add some olive oil to it, mix it up, then rub it on your lips - it makes them smooth and takes off the dead skin. Whenever I do it (which isn't often) I normally end up eating it.

I usually leave it down, I have fine hair (but a lot of it) so it dries fairly quickly. I do use straighteners and curlers but it takes for ever to tong my whole head, I can't be bothered! I never use heated irons without protection spray either The sugar Idea is amazing, admittedly I've never made it myself, but here in the UK we have a bath/cosmetics store called LUSH which makes everything eco friendly and natural, I got some lip scrub from there, it tastes like lemonade- and you're actively encouraged to lick it off

Okay! I tried your formula yesterday! My hair's not much different. Oh! That's good, Eco-friendly stuff! Ha ha ha! I know the feeling! Sometimes, I won't even put it on, I'll just start eating it right from the little cup I put it in! ^^

Oh dear that's not good! I've never come across anyone it doesn't work on before! Do you have naturally straight hair? Maybe it worked on me(and my friend who told me to do it) because I have natural waves.

No, my hair is wavy and can get a little frizzy, but for the most part, it just has unruly waves. How much do you put in, the mousse, I mean? Do you brush it then put the mousse in?
Here's another thing to do: vasaline can be used as mascara! Just apply it the same way you would mascara, just with your finger instead!
