Same rules as the previous few threads: you can only vote once every 60 min, unless someone posts after you in that time period. And you can only +/- one person at a time.

Why remove characters who only appear in the books and instead include some who only appear in the movies?? I mean, characters like Tauriel and Figwit (sorry, love him too but still) aren't even Tolkien created so they can't be counted as canon :/ While characters like Beren and Lúthien, and Morgoth (without whom evil would not exist and there would be no story O.o) are very very important!!

I went by movie listings. The thing is, if we'd kept the original list as well as added all the characters mentioned in the Hobbit then the original list would be ridiculously long and it'd just take AGES to get anything done. So yeah, that's why. _________________

This game went more by the books in the beginning, rather than the movies. I agree with Sírelindë here. Removing characters from The Silmarillion doesn't seem right and adding a character like Tauriel seems wrong. She's not even a character created by Tolkien, but one instead made up by Peter for the film. I don't think non-canons fit here.

Tauriel is like three posts from disappearing, surely that can't matter much at this point. And it did go by the books, but there was also the rule only ONE post per hour no matter what. And the last round was the first time the previous winners were excluded. It seems the game is simply evolving a bit between rounds. Which genuinely just sparks it up a bit. _________________

Tauriel is the only non-canon character in the list and she'll be voted out pretty soon if I have anything to do with it.
(OK, the name Figwit isn't canon, but the film character's real name, Lindir, is canon )

By equal chance I mean people like Beren should at least have a place in the list. I agree that the game evolving is a good thing but some things shouldn't be changed, like characters from the Silm should be included and film-only ones should not be, as they're not created by Tolkien. @Seren Yes, but we all know Figwit and Lindir aren't the same person even though they're both portrayed by Bret McKenzie  _________________
