It's so nice to see some more of the Hobbits and their everyday life My favorite added scene however is the scene where Thorin and Bilbo overhear Gandalf and Elrond talking in Rivendell. It blends in really well with the already existing movie, and it really adds something to Thorin's character. Nurrantiel Mashiara wrote: And the appendices are fabulous. There's so much good stuff in there! Hopefully we'll get an in-depth look at costumes (if it's there I haven't gotten to it yet) but I'm really loving them. Yes, the appendices are as amazing as they were for LotR. I loved hearing the story of why Peter Jackson ultimately decided to direct the Hobbit, as well as seeing all the casting videos from the Dwarf cast. Adam Brown would have made an adorable Bilbo Yes! Adam Brown's audition tape was so sweet! It would've been interesting to see the kind of Bilbo he played, but I think Martin was still pretty much the perfect choice. The added Thorin scene was excellent - though for sheer enjoyment I think the dwarves reaction to elvish music and their song was my favorite added scene. Plus Bofur sings Frodo's song!

I'm definitely waiting til I see the movie. I think if I listen now, it'll just sound more like a standard Ed Sheeran song, but if I hear it in the context of the movie it'll sound like a ballad for the dwarves. Oh. It's Ed Sheeran? Definitely waiting for the film then. I don't like Ed Sheeran so if I listen to it now I'm probably going to hate it. I'm going to order the EE DVD on Friday. (Waiting for pay day )

The Thorin scene...... I hated Elrond for a moment! Bofur singing was hilarious and I need to buy the EE NOW, but unfortunately I don't have any money in my jeans

Nuuuuu, you can't hate Elrond! I think it really laid even more of a foundation for more of the elf/dwarf tension to come. And with Bilbo hearing it too, you get more on board with him as Thorin starts to covet all the gold too much.

I agree! Even though I love Thorin, i still hope he doesn't get too obsessed with gold, like Thror, Thror is creepy! Don't worry Nurr, i do like Elrond I thought it was so funny when the dwarves were having a food fight, and the looks on Elrond, Lindir, and Gandalf's faces were hilarious when food nearly hit them!

I'd ordered the EE a couple days ago. Is it worth owning?

The extended scenes were a bit short compared to LotR, but the huge amount of behind-the-scenes material more than makes up for that! The quality of the documentaries is very good and from what I've seen so far they are as interesting as they were for LotR. So yes, I think it's worth owning

A store that rents out movies. They might only be in the U.S.

Good news everyone, you can now pre-order the Extended Edition of DoS (if you live in North America, that is. I'm unsure when it's available in the UK). I hope to get this version this time around: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Hobbi ... ay/110287/If I can afford to upgrade to Blu-ray by November that is, or else I'll be getting the 5-disc DVD, just like I did with AUJ. Unlike with the theatrical version (which I will not be giving away this time, since there's no way I'm getting rid of that picture of Thorin), with the Extended Edition, I have to buy the one I can actually watch instead of getting the combo pack that I got with the theatrical version (I saw most of the bonus features online anyway, so it didn't make much sense to get the 2-disc DVD, unlike last year with AUJ).

Exciting! I'll probably order it from the Hobbit Shop again.
