I just watched a wonderful documentary on Blue whales. OMG are they ever beautiful! An adult female can weigh as much as 125 tonnes, has a heart as large as a car, and is the length of two city buses.
They are not only the largest animal on Earth, they are they largest animal known to have existed on Earth.
Great stuff!

Well, the highest recorded weight as per Wiki was 173 tonnes (apparently equivalent to the metric ton of 1000 kilograms or 2200 imperial pounds; the other weight given is 190 short tons, this being the 2000 imperial pounds). Estimates exceed 181 tonnes or 200 short tons. The 125 tonnes you mention may be appropriate for the slightly smaller (though perhaps more aggressive) Fin Whale. _________________
