Enyalie glanced up. "Plans..? Oh, no...I have no plans, nothing." She picked uncomfortably at a loose string on her tunic, looking away.
"What was the point?"

She stopped short, and looked at Enyalie dumbfoundedly.
" I think you've proved the point yourself, if you don't mind me saying. I hope the wilderness in a foreign land is much better than what you're running away from."
She sighed, gazing up at the sails. Looking back down, she clicked her tongue at the roof of her mouth a couple times.
" I think I'll be retiring for the day. There's plenty of food and water and ale below deck, as you can guess, help yourself. If you'll excuse me.."
She slowly walked into her cabin, and locked the door; disappearing.

Enyalie stood in the heavy silence that followed after Alassea's exit, before finally collapsing onto the deck. The spray from the waves crashing against the ides of the ship splashed onto her face, intermingling with the tears that fell unchecked down her cheek. She set her back against the balistrade and allowed her silent sobs to shake her to her core, and her heart, if it had not been carved in stone.

Deawen lit a few lamps in the cabin only one more day till she was home. it seemed to good to be true.

It was still dark when Alassea arose, and slipped out of the cabin quietly. The stars were full in bloom, however quickly fading into the dark sky that was soon morphing into an early-blue. The sea was calm, and only slightly windy, nevertheless it was cold enough so, that Alassea wrapped her blanket around her shoulders tighter. Then, a thought passed her.
Eyes darting over to where she had last seen Enyalie stand, she now saw her sprawled out on the deck, deep in slumber. A rush of guilt swept through her and she cursed herself inwardly for having been such a cold-hearted fool.
Being quiet so as not to awaken her passenger, she lightly draped the thick blanket that she held on top of Enyalie, wishing she granted her a bed and not a hard wooden floor. Replacing the absence of the blanket with her cloak, she clasped it around at her neck, and waited. Waited until the full presence of dawn and a thin strip of land that was expected to show itself in the distance within hours would appear.

When Enyalie awoke from her first real sleep in what felt like weeks, her hand flew from reflex to the dagger at her waist, which had been digging into her hip. And then she remembered where she was, and she dropped back with a sigh. She stood up, noticing Alassea's blanket and pulling it up with her.
Seeing Alassea on the other side of the deck, she made her way over and handed it back. "Thanks," she murmured, looking down at the toe of her boots before shuffling away.

She turned and looked apon Enyalie, calling after her in an uncharacteristically softer tone of voice, " Why are you so grim?"
Glancing back over at the sea infront of them, she spoke in an enlightened voice, " Land is not but fifty more miles away, we could make it before mid-day if the wind allows us."

Enyalie paused uncertainly, as the wind blew her dark hair and whipped it coldly into her face, not looking back at Alassea but keeping her eyes transfixed on the grain of the wood on the deck beneath her feet.
"You didn't..." she started, and her voice broke. So she tried again, "You were not there after Rivendell. You did not see what followed after you left, when you abandoned us. When you abandoned them." She turned slowly, gazing at Alassea with sorrowed eyes. "When you abandoned me."

Sighing through her nostrils, her jaw clenched as she immediately broke off eye-contact with Enyalie, averting her gaze to the side; obviously uncomfortable with the subject. Brows furrowing, she answered after a long painful pause, still not looking at her.
" You don't understand, Enyalie.. I had to leave."

She shook her head. "There is no excuse you can possibly make. Nothing." She really did try not to cry, truly she did...

She turned to face her, catching Alassea's eye. "Duty, Alassea? Duty? Since when do you have any perception of duty? Sometimes I do not know who you became, who you've become. Nor do I think I would have wanted to. Maybe stowing away on your ship was a mistake after all."

That last remark put her over the edge, and she turned to look at Enyalie with wild eyes.
" Alright! What happened then, after I left, that I could have prevented? Hm? What was more important? In my eyes I left to keep you and those people ALIVE. I left becuase I had lingered too long, and didn't want you to get hurt! Was that a crime? Don't you dare follow me and ridicule me about duty, I was doing the duty of a friend! Common bloody courtesy." She had been striding up and down the deck without knowing it, letting her anger seep through in short outbursts, hands on her hips.
" Even after finding you I let you stay aboard, and not only that Enyalie.. But I'm willing to help you find a home. Something you mentioned you didn't have anymore. So forgive me for only doing what I can, when I can. But I'm curious now, what -did- happen? I'd very much like to know."
