Silmarwen shivered, staring into the night as she tried to remain awake, but soon fell into a fitful sleep once again.

Niell didn't answer, instead he turned away and continued walking towards the tunnel. The dark elf followed close behind, he was talking but Niell didn't listen. He didn't care what the dark elf had to say. He had already wasted enough time. He suddenly felt a heavy blow connect with the side of his head. Next thing he knew he was on the ground looking up at the dark elf who now held a sword. Niell drew his sword and stood up in one motion. He could feel a trickle of blood coming from his nose, he didn't think it was broken but it was too soon to tell. He looked over at the tunnel only a few yards away, he didn't have time to fight. His decision made, he turned and ran for the tunnel, ducking into it just as he heard an arrow connect with the stone. He emerged from the tunnel, he needed to reach the hills but there was about a mile of flat land in between him and them. He would be completely exposed. As he ran he felt a sharp pain shoot through his back.
Once he had reached the cover of the trees a few hours later he stopped. He reached back to the place where it hurt the most on his back, feeling the long shaft of an arrow. He cursed silently and broke the shaft in two. He couldn't reach back far enough to pull it out but at least this way it wasn't sticking out so far. He could feel an annoying trickl of blood coming from the wound and he knew that the light gray of his outer tunic would be stained crimson. He continued walking, the moon was far overhead when he finally reached the clearing.

Silmarwen heard someone approach, but didn't move. She felt as though something was holding her down, but there was nothing there, and the pain blinded her eyes and mind as she struggled to fight against the pull of the poison. Silmarwen felt cold, both inside and out, and shivered out of control, curled up tightly on the bare ground.

Niell came into the clearing and the first thing he saw was Silmarwen on the ground. At first he thought he had come too late but at a closer glance he saw that she was still herself, but barely. "Silmarwen," Niell said kneeling next to her. He uncorked the top of the bottle. His arm went behind her shoulders and he managed to get her into a sitting position. "Silmarwen, I need you to drink this," he wasn't sure if she could hear him but he wanted to try to drink on her own. Forcing the liquid into her didn't seem like an appealing idea at the moment.

Silmarwen heard him, but barely, and flinched as she was moved to a sitting position. It hurt to move, and all she wanted to do was give in now. She nodded her head slightly, but all she could manage in the form of speaking was a quiet groan.

Niell tipped the contents of the bottle into her mouth. Once she had swallowed he layed her back down and walked over to a tree. Sinking down to his knees in relief. It felt wonderful to be able to sit down. He leaned back against the tree but jerked away suddenly, letting out an elvish curse. He had forgotten about the arrow and his leaning back had just driven it in another inch.

It felt like fire going down her throat, but Silmarwen managed to swallow. She let out a quite sigh of relief as warmth came over her, though she was still cold on the surface. She was thankful it was working quickly, and became aware of her surroundings again and heard Niell curse in elvish. After a while she managed sit up, though wincing severely.

Niell looked up when he heard a stirring sound. "Oh good, you're awake," he said wearily.

Silmarwen nodded slowly then looked at him. "Are you alright?... you don't sound too well..." she questioned as loud as her voice would allow, though it was still nearly a whisper.

Silmarwen shook her head, feeling her strength beginning to return and with it, her stubborness. She stood and swayed slightly but managed to walk over and kneel by him. "You're not fine... you're bleeding and you still have an arrow in your back..."

Niell looked at the ground, his eyelids drooped slightly. "It doesn't hurt," he looked up at her, "and why are you so worried about me, you should be concerned about yourself. That antidote won't work if you don't give it a chance to."

"I worry because you risked your life for me... you could have left me behind, but you risked your life and even your chances of returning... I'll give chance for the antidote to work, as soon as I make sure you stay alive..." Silmarwen put a hand on his shoulder and grasped the remainder of the shaft at his back. "Now this is going to hurt... worse than it did going in," she warned. It took some effort on her part, but she managed to pull the shaft and arrow head out, then took her vest and rolled it up, pressing it against his wound. "Now... just sit back against the tree... I can't keep holding it..."

Sitting back against a tree next to him, Silmarwen let out a tired sigh and bowed her head. "Hannon le, mellon nin..." she spoke quietly, looking over at him.

"Ta nae seasamin," Niell said with a somewhat forced smile. His head fell back against the tree, closing his eyes he sighed in relief.
