She arched an eyebrow, following after the others. "Just morbid curiousity...But why are you in the land of the Easterlings? Or you?" She inquired, tapping Lairiel lightly on the shoulder.

[ <Coughed slightly, veiling her laughter.> Smooth move, x-lax. <Winked, giving her a thumbs-up.>]
Valandil waited until they were well within the woods before he answered Enyalie, a hint of quiant humor in his soft voice. " You do not know much about your friend's family, I take it. From now on, the both of you must follow our lead, unless you want an arrow sticking from your throat.." He looked over his shoulder at Enyalie, smiling reassuringly. " It's not but half a mile away."
Alassea who followed close at his heal, reached up and pinched the back of his arm. He scowled, pushing her shoulder before leading the way once more.

Lairiel pushed her hair from her eyes again and fell into stride alongside Enyalie. "I am just visiting Alassea." She glanced up at Alassea and Valandil; they didn't seem to be listening to the conversation going on behind them. She turned back to Enyalie. "So how do you know her?"

Fighting an urge to hit Alassea's brother, Enyalie stuck her tongue out at his back. He was far too much like his sister. "I'm an old friend," she murmured to Lairiel.

" Hope you're not afraid to get a little wet," Alassea whispered to them. Valandil had led them through thick undergrowth into lighter green foliage that soon morphed into mud and muck. Leaves caked the forest floor like sprinkles on icing, dark and dreary. Ahead, there was an extremely wide river, shallow, but seemingly rockless, at least there were no stepping stones, and if there were rocks at the bottom of the water, you could not tell. The murky current pulled along broken limbs and other natural debree of the sort, it all implying to be the aftermath of a recent storm. Valandil stepped lightly into the water, followed by Alassea who lifted her cloak up to her sides, frowning as the water reached up to her kneecaps.

She hesitated at the water's edge, before deciding with a small sigh that water was the least of her worries. She unhooked her sword from her belt, hoping that her numerous daggers wouldn't be too damaged, and stepped silently behind Alassea, and hoping that she wouldn't trip.

Alassea waded quietly behind her brother, keeping her pitch eyes ahead of her. The company had went along in silence for a while, and just as they reached across the river half-way, Alassea decided to look behind her to see how the tail-end was coming along. Enyalie seemed to be alright, save to be a bit disgruntled at the present situation. Before her eyes met Lairiel, her attention was quickly diverted.
Below, she felt a slight brush against her leg, but it was slow, and un-fish like. She stopped, her face going white. " ..Please no..."
Alassea pulled up her sleeve, and reached down into the water blindly, grabbing the object. The acrid odor that followed afterwords was almost eye-watering, she felt compelled to drop the arm back into the water. It had been severed from the elbow in a clean cut, the fingers still stiff from rigor-mortis. She did not know what to do with it for a second, but finally hurled it downriver, her slimy palm held up and dripping water.
Valandil looked up only when he heard the distant splash, but figured it was only a fish. He turned around, looking confusedly at Alassea. " Are we stopping for a potty-break, or can we keep going?"

She stopped full on, mouth open in surprise and eyes wide. Having looked from Valandil to Alassea, she immediately looked down into the water worriedly. "Can we...get out of here, please?!"

Lairiel nodded anxiously, frowning and glancing around. She stared down at the water that was swirling around her legs and shifted her weight to her left leg. The sight of Alassea pulling an arm out of the river replayed in her mind. She shook her head and glanced up at Valandil and Alassea, waiting for them to continue forward. The faster we get out of here, the better. I'd rather not find any more body parts floating down the river.She thought.

Alassea agreed silently, and she gently pushed Valandil's shoulder as a gesture to move onwards. An uncomfortable sensation of anxiety trickled throughout her frame, and she looked around worriedly. It could have been the fact she pulled a limb from a river, but something indicated to her that the injury was not from any storm, however such conclusions could in no way be proven. In her sudden alert mood, she urged for her brother to move along faster. The other end of land was only fifteen feet away at most, but her fear was not directed into the water any longer..

Enyalie, in an odd excitement somehow linked to an old memory, was trying desperately not to burst into laughter. In some small way, she found the idea of Alassea afraid hysterical.
Still, she wouldn't want to trip, hysteria or not.

Alassea sighed as she drew closer to the bank of land, the water around her legs slowly growing shallower. " I can feel you smirking at me, Enyalie. What is it?" Valandil coughed, but she was sure that he was trying to veil a snort of laughter. He stepped out of the water and onto the grassy bank, extending a hand to Alassea as if to help her. She glared at him momentarily, as if he had made some offence, then she dismissed the hand, stepping out of the murky river unhelped. He sighed, and left his hand out for Enyalie and Lairiel; his dark optics glittering kindly.

Enyalie gratefully took his hand, lightly stepping onto the bank. Without much trouble, she reattached her sword to her belt, making a check in her mind at each dagger she examined.
"Oh nothing, Alassea...Just my morbid humor, as I think you once put it." She laughed softly, clasping a pin at her throat to hold her cloak on tighter.

Lairiel took Valandil's hand with a nod of thanks and a smile, stepping onto the dry land. She stared at her feet and glanced up at Alassea and Enyalie and shook her head, smirking and trying not to laugh. Her gaze flitted around them and she narrowed her eyes peering into the dark murky waters behind them. Happy to be out of the water, she waited for the other three to move forward.
