Oh, I grew up reading Roald Dahl books, and I've always loved them.
I love the way he would write things and describe things, and his surreal; often macabre ideas.
The kind of alternative children's stories that inspired me to write, and gave me the kind of insane imagination that I have today!

I can't believe I forgot about Matilda! I carried that book around with me everywhere when I was little, and read it over and over. So hilarious...hated the movie adaptation though!

Totally agree there. I thought that the movie adaption (well cartoon adaption) of the BFG wasn't that good, either. Same?

There's a movie based on The Witches too, but I haven't seen it, and probably never will...since all the other adaptations were so bad!

Argh, I must begin reading some of his novels. I ahve read a little of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. And I have read a short story called Lamb to the Slaughter. Quite scary, but with sarcastic humour.  _________________

The man was SO original, and had an imagination beyond compare! None of his stories even HINTED of any cliques, they were just totally Dahl-istic!

I LOVE Roald Dahl! I used to read his books all the time when I was little. I loved them, and I still have The BFG. That was by far my favorite. It's such a great story. I think everyone should have that one on their shelf, whether they're young or old.
