HAHAHA!!! I love that too! Have you ever heard of Dream Evil? the song The Book of Heavy Metal (March of the Metallians) does that in the very beginning when he says "METAaAaAaAaAaALLL!!!"

"Don't need no flashy house, no car or ugly wife; the only thing i want, is what my parents don't. Need no widescreen TV, no in all honesty. The only thing i want to beeeeeee. (to be or not to be) in the book of heavy metal. YeAaAaAaAaAah!"

Amazing! You think your part of a secluded folk, or at least a small community. But thats on the outside, I mean I'm surrounded by punkers, emo-ers, and fricking rappers. But when I pound my metal, I get disgruntled looks and people telling me my music is too loud(really, it's not loud at all!). And I know only two people, friends, who listen to metal at all, on a regular basis. Ones into anything heavy, and the other is all about Death and Black metal(who subsequently tries to get me to listen to it, and I admit I do, though it's limited). But then you go around these sites, and you find metal-heads(united!) en-masse! But then, that was stupid, however... On a LotR board, you would think everyone's on about, well...normal people music escuse my language...
Anyway, I'm in the process of listening to Punishment Divine by Blind Guardian(my ultimate favourite metal band, let-alone favourite power metal band), and gonna go into some Moonsorrow. As for other bands, particuarily favourites, and 'types' of metal: I'm into most metal, as long as there is POWER. Now, Death/Black/Pagan;Viking Metal, the screaming kind of deters me, and when I say power, I mean the audible and sensible vocals (and music). Bands in that genre that I listen to, or currently am, and like are the Viking/Pagan Metal bands Ragnarok, Moonsorrow, and Zimovyrodok. Especially the latter two. Then there's Dimmu Borgir which I've dabbled with, and Cradle of Filth.
Power Metal of course: Blind Guardian, Rhapsody(which I tend to call 'classical' metal, and is one of my faves), Hammerfall(honestly, there's not enough of the power element), Stratovarius(unless they fall under symphonic) all being en-masse current I listen to now.(edit-I forgot Savage Circus, the ex-drummer of Blind Guardians, new band! These guys are wicked!)
Symphonic Metal: Dragonland(especially! One of my faves) and Dark Moor(an initial band that drew me into metal, however it's somewhat lost it's luster, for me).
Folk Metal: Elvenking(I love these guys; I highly recomend them)
And other Miscellaneous bands: Manowar(I don't like em much, but meh), Iron Maiden, Children of Bodom, Dream Theatre, Metallica, Nightwish, Rammstein(industrial metal all the way; I especially like Morgenstern), etc.
Rock On!

i like you already *extends hand to shake as a sign of friendship*
But i know exactly what you mean with not having any metal listeners around ;my comunity is so gosh darn superficial and "cool" with their music that it makes me sick. everyone is either "OH OH GREENDAY", "Yee-uh, fitty cent fo life!", or "My chemical romance knows exactly how i feel *cut cut*". It sickens me.

*shakes hand* Yes I know, melkorpwns: MCR, Greenday, Franz Ferdinand, System of a Down(who I think are disgraces to metal)-is all I hear about (amongst hordes of others). And Raivynn, your just damned lucky, you know that? ^_~
Punks become a fashion statement, I just hope people won't start spending half an hour selecting a 'metal outfit' now.

I could not agree with you more. Music is not a fashion statement to be used to garner cool points.

Power Metal, an amazing genre. One of my favorites, could even be my favorite. Dimmu Borgir was my first Metal band (Symphonic Black Metal <3), and I slowly got into harder bands like Lamb of God and Cradle of Filth. Later, though... I discovered Power Metal. Boy, did it grab a hold of my nuts. I love Power Metal, and any other type of Metal that's pure skill and melody. Folk Metal (I love Elvenking), Progressive Metal, Symphonic Black Metal, Gothic Metal (another of my faves), any Metal that has to do with Vikings (love Amon Amarth, Immortal, Ensiferum; would like more Viking Metal bands ), I like ALL Metal. Power Metal is one of my favorites. I already said that but... I wanted to again, since this is the Power Metal thread... long live the Metal brotherhood.
