I used to be crazy about hip-hop, rap and r'n'b, but for some reason I'm not too much into it any longer. I still enjoy some, but don't care much for mainstream music like that anymore. And especially since I discovered Power Metal (and Metal in general) that whole pop culture just seem less and less important to me, and I feel myself moving away from a lot of it.

^Thanks Raivynn
It's pretty sad, because even though hip-hop and rap are very popular in here, not everyone likes it.There's lots of people who would love to see bands playing in here.

I'm glad hip-hop and rap is not only what's popular here. The good thing about Europe in general is that there is always a market for all kinds of artists, not only what's hot at the moment. All types of music will get airplay.

hehe. I feel like a much happier person inside now that I don't feel I have to keep up with the latest trends in music. I guess that also came with growing up and not being a teenager anymore.
I can remember when I was younger, probably my mid-teens, that I wanted to like metal because it seemed like such an awesome genre in general but I couldn't find any metal band that I enjoyed listening to since I'm a melody girl - I need melodies in the music I listen to - and the only metal bands that I heard were those extremely loud noisy type of bands who do nothing but scream and yeah well that wasn't for me. So I was actually kind of bummed about it, that there was a genre I wanted to like but couldn't. Power Metal and Symphonic Metal came like a gift from above literally.

There are a lot of good bands out there that are melodic and use a slightly more aggressive vocal style.
Killswitch Engage, Soilwork(from Sweded yay), InFlames (also from Sweden), Shadows Fall.
I'll post some vids up on the Metal Society club.

Killswitch Engage and InFlames are pretty good I bought a CD the other day that had lots of metal bands in it and it had songs from them

True enough, but I would still love to see European bands coming here. Particularily Blind Guardian and Rhapsody, two personal Power Metal(and in the case of Rhapsody, classical) faves. Which is why I'm slowly introducing people to BG, in fact, I got someone into BG, and she loves it! But in an area infested with, well, hip-hop and such fans, we metallers are loosely strewn. However, the fight continues!

Nice job It's surprising that you got them straight into BG, i usually show them the way with Dragonforce because their a little more mainstream than most power metal. (not that that's a bad thing) but if BG came here i would die and resurect in time for the concert. I'm borrowing Imaginations through the looking glass and let me tell you... ITS AWESOME! GAH! I wish i were there. You guys should see it if you havent yet.

lol sorry I guess i worded myself wrong, it's an interview done over the phone, but there's only a written transcript available. Sorry for making it sound like there was an audio file to go with it.
