Eleshna nodded and urged Syndar into a quicker pace. By evening they had reached the other side and Veron's cave.

She shivered as she dismounted and walked towards the cave, the jewel again clenched in her fist. She strode over and started a fire, waiting for it to heat enough while she read from the book once more.

Jaden stood by watching, not realy knowing what to do.

His sword was still out and in hand, this place made him uneasy.

Eleshna tossed the book down and trembled slightly as she stoked the flame and glanced around. She mumbled something then took out the jewel, placing it into the melting bowl and placed it in the fire.

She stepped back in surprise and sheilded her face with her arm as a flash came from it and a sort of explosion, causing the ground to shake.

They were both thrown back from the force and Eleshna coughed from the smoke and scrambled to her feet, a hand on her side.

"You alright?" Jaden asked her as he got up and looked at the jewel.

Eleshna nodded breifly and looked at the pool of melted liquid, glowing orange, that was now on the ground.

Suddenly a loud screech sounded from outside, and Eleshna noticed Azher becoming more alert and alarmed at the screech.

"We can't go out that way now," she muttered. "The jewel is destroyed, but I'm afraid we angered the creature, we'll have to figure out how to get it to mount doom to kill it...."

Eleshna nodded. "I believe so" She ran towards the back of the dwelling, going through a dark entrance. Before she continued, she paused, grabbing a torch and lighting it, then continued on through at a running pace.

It took them not too long to reach the other end of the large tunnel, but when they stepped out, they were greeted by several spines hurled at that by none other than the creature itself.

Eleshna did the same, but as she unsheathed her sword, she whispered in a strange langauge and before they new it, a sea of Shadows drifted in and leapt on the creature, looking much like locust on a crop plant.

Eleshna went past the struggle without being hindered, but the Shadows, upon seeing the horse, dragon, and Jaden, were in such a fury they began going after all that did not weild a Shadow master blade.

Jaden realized what was happening and jumped on Azzher. Azher took flight and pushed an opening for Syndar to run out away fromt he shadows.

Eleshna whipped around and ran towards Syndar, leaping upon the horse and immediately spurring to a gallop.

Most of the Shadows stayed behind, the creature now layered with the things and even swallowing a few to rid itself of the irritation.

All of the sudden Eleshna caught sight of a lone Shadow watching from not far off. She gave a cry for Syndar to quicken his pace, but the horse was already putting his all into the effort.

A thin wisp, the shape akin to an arrow, came towards both Eleshna and Jaden. "Veron's Shadows! They have given chase!" She explained hurriedly but as she went to crouch down lower in the saddle for speed, she was struck by one of the wisps, though it left no mark.

Eleshna rolled as she hit the ground then scrambled to her feet but dropped down again to avoid another Shadow arrow.

Jaden motioned Azher around as they picked up Eleshna. Syndar was to frightened to turn around and come back.

Eleshna grabbed onto Jaden for support as she turned to watch the chaos behind them, both groups of Shadows engaged in a gainless battle against eachother, while the creature freed itself and took off like a shadow and seemed to vanish.

Azher took them far from the battle, flying through the sky slow enough for Syndar to keep up as he ran along the ground below them.


Slowly the armys disapeared into the distance and trees lined the horizen. Azher slowed and landed gently ont he open ground next to a small forest.

Eleshna nearly collapsed as they landed, coughing and clutching a hand over where the shadow arrow had seemed to hit, but yet without it leaving a mark.
