A shadow
Silent in the moonlight
Gliding swiftly past the bodies
And carnage
Of a slaughtered past
Refusing to look down
For fear of what it might see
And taking no responsibility
For those who died
In its dark name
Stumbling over a single soul
And finding itself face to face
With a friend
Looking into lifeless eyes
Seeing pain and hurt
So clear
Such cloudy eyes
What a way to die
Alone and grieving
Mourning the loss
Of a friend
A traitor
Betraying for life
Which had been so freely given
But taken
In an insant of torment
And cruelty
Torture was the fact
That lies
And deceit
Had followed
That lonely shadow
Even as its friend lay dying
Hatred burned
Consuming
And searching for death
Seeking fate
Finding none
Return to light
Spiteful
Cold uncaring
Unfazed by love
And tears
Kept revenge in check
So long
Now unable
To move on
Gazing into deeper eyes
Bitter cruelty
Ice in winter
Cold as nightfall
In December
Mysterious hatred
Melted soul
Roving spirit
Treachory
And malevolence
Run deeply
Cruel passion
Smirking deceit
Waiting in vain
For life to end
Immortality
Restores no faith
Nor beauty
Skin-deep
Truly no longer caring
For betraying emotions
Reliving every moment
Of life
As a shadow
Invisible
And without warmth
But freezing fire
