Ok, this is sort of based on the Russian novel, Night Watch. In the world we know, there are two different groups, Day and Night. Easy to remember. Those that are loyal to Day are usually righteous and altrustic. Those that are loyal to Night are usually selfish and doesn't care about the morals. Because they are opposite sides in a battlefield, they fight for the control of the world we know. They also try to gain more followers either through persuasion, coercion, or conversion. Because of their allegiance, Day or Night people can get special magic powers and have to ability to turn into or become a creature of their side. This is a fairly good list of the things you can be:

Half-Angels
Unicorns
Pheonix
Big Cats(ex. lions, tigers, etc.)

Courage Boost
Shapeshifting (only Day creatures though)
Holy Power (more proficent in killing Night creatures and servants)

Half-Demons

Dark Power (more proficent in killing Day creatures and servants)
Parastitic Healing (heals by killing someone)

Obviously if you think of something I didn't have in the list but is relevant to the story, post it and I will tell you if it is ok. The obvious rules for a RPG apply here. And that's basically about it!

I want to join, I haven't read that novel thought(but you joined that Eragon rpg but hadn't read the book!) so like without shapeshifting, what are the night and day creatures look like? are they just people?

Just normal people. I think they act normal and everything but the battle is hidden from reallly normal people (like those that haven't chosen a side). The creatures that are non-human are invisible to people that do not have side. This is my character if this game gets started. By the way this is modern day setting.

As for phantoms, they are basically something like the Nazgul. They are the most proficent in Night magic.
