Ev nodded, and they both walked into a room in which sat Susan and Lucy, who looked like they had just been talking about something humorous. However, their faces quickly went more serious as the girls came in. "We called you two in," said Susan, "Because the boys are in need of....caretakers," she said, for lack of a better word.

"Caretakers?" asked Ev, "Why?"

Susan looked at Lucy.

Felicity frowned slightly and looked at Lucy as well, and Lucy sighed. "Well...Peter was thrown off his horse earlier and broke his leg...and Edmund is sick."

Ev grimaced. "Oh...are they alright?" she asked concernedly.

Susan nodded. "Generally...it's just, we have to handle all royal affairs now and can't take care of them....and the only ones we'd trust with our - or their - lives are you two. So...would you do us this favor and take care of them? We will have others carry out your duties for as long as it takes."

Ev looked at Felicity, then back at Susan and nodded. "Okay."

Ev nodded, then asked, "When should we begin taking charge of them?"

"As soon as possible," said Susan, rising. "Come, I'll show you to Peter's room."

Ev followed, but not without exchanging a semi-wide-eyed look with Lici.

Felicity shook her head slightly and looked at Evelyn for a moment, then looked at Lucy, who stood up and motioned for her to follow.

Susan led Ev through the corridor in silence, until they arrived outside the door. "The bone's already been set," she said, "But he still has some scratches and bruises...and his temperature will need to be monitered for infections."

Ev nodded.

"Thanks again, Ev," she said. Ev nodded again, and smiled. The two hugged, then Susan set off. Ev took a deep breath, then opened the door.

Felicity nodded and stopped at the door.

"Thanks again, and good luck." Lucy said, before turning and leaving.

Felicity watched her leave, then sighed quietly and opened the door slowly.

Ed looked up from his bed as the door opened, then lay his head back and stared at the ceiling. "You know, when Su an' Lusan said 'personal caretaker...'"

Ed shook his head.

Ev walked quietly into the room, feeling first off <i>very</i> awkward, secondly like an intruder. She walked quietly to the side of his bed, where there already sat a bowl of water and a cloth. She glanced at his face, and saw a new scrape on his forehead. Something possessed her to touch his face, but then - just to her luck - he woke up and stopped her hand by reflex. (<u>Pirates</u>...)
