Khamdul gripped his scimitar and raised his shield in a defensive position. He saw a elf approach a Ranger near the lines from the corner of his eye but disregard it. His attention was on the gate and the myraid of enemies in there.

Rhayader continued looking at the entrance, arrow at the ready.
"I am well enough to fire a bow. I'm not straining myself. Just grab a bow and help if you want..."

Tindomerel sighed and pulled her bow out of it's quiver on her back. She steathed her sword. She only had a hand full of good elven arrows left, but like they could help with tindomerel's very poor shooting.

"Okay, I'll try," she said, knocking an arrow, carefully, holding the bow ready at her side, "You do remember I'm not very good at this."
Nimloth trotted up to the elf and the ranger, flopping down on the ground, closing her eyes to sleep until she was needed.

"Lazy wolf," hissed Tindomerel, glaring slightly at the she-wolf.
But, like with Rhayader, she could never stay mad at Nimloth for long and her gaze became soft.

Rhayader glanced up at her and smiled.
"Just draw back, pick your targets and release. Even if you just aim for the entrance you should hit something."
He brought his gaze upon the baracade and kept his bow down leaving the arrow loose.

(I'm afraid I need to put this on hold, or at least set aside the breaking of the barracade, for I wish Mire to have a chance when she has time, to act out the enemy, so if you'll all be patient, it shall award with a much more interesting an RP if Mire is able to return. So in other words... the baraccade has not yet broken because I'm buying time for Mire *chuckles*)

As suddenly as it started, the pounding ceased, and the low voices speaking in a foul tongue was heard beyond the barracade, retreating farther into the caves. The Rohirrim and Gondorian's however, did not relax, considering it to most possibly be another diversion and trick of the enemy to set them at ease and later catch them off guard.

After a time, Arinae sheathed her sword and motioned the archers to set back a few paces. "Sit, rest, though still be at ready. Never let all gazes at once to fail from this entrance. Keep always a few watching, with arrows ready..." She instructed firmly, though in a low voice so as not to stir curiousity within the caves.

Arinae turned her back on the gates and walked silently away, eventually coming to stand on the Deeping wall, her gaze set outward in deep thought, her green eyes dulled by the weariness that had taken its toll on her. "Valar save us..." she murmured under her breath, bowing her head and closing her eyes as she leaned forward against the upper wall structure.

[Aye, I agree with Dhodrimme regarding this. We should give a chance to Mire and the others to play the bad ones. Besides, no need for rushing things!]

"Steady! Steady!" Aemornion called out as the bashing waned slightly followed by the curses from within. He took a deep breath as the barricade held the enemy within before turning to his present commanders

"Dagonet! set watch posts here and up there" he motioned to the overhang and the area infront of the gate "Keep a watch with a minimum of five men around the hour and be sure to brief me at any sign of disturbance. Have spears ready at hand also if the gate becomes breached" he spoke with a firm tone before turning his glance to Arinae with a slightly worried but firmed gaze

"Hope lies only now in our help that needs to arrive. The attack will begin before they come without any doubt, let us prepare as best as we can..." he looked back at the cave enterence "... let us just pray it will hold long enough. That is the only thing we have left for now beside the spilling of pools of blood"

(*decides to do something drastic with Arinae just to pass the time* tehe...)

Arinae's jaw clenched tighter with each of the Gondorian Captain's spoken words. Her words and very essence were strained and tense, though unsteady as she released herself, observing that they were far from the hearing range of their men at the time.

"Hope... hope? What has hope done but bring us here? To be pinned between a rock and a hard place... literally! Hope brought me to a burnt and ruined village, where the one who raised me until I was seven, and sought me ever after, died and never had I the chance to speak with her. Hope had me begging the elves whom I called family to come and assist me, yet in their high pride they said it was not their place to intervene. Hope had me accept the challenge to lead these men, yet I am not skilled enough to do so, thus I am letting them down... " Her tone remained stressed yet strong and angered, her hands clenched to the stone edge of the side barrier upon the deeping wall.

"Hope is what brought us here to take this place into our hands again, and yes, it has done that, but it has also placed us in this predicament! It is not the hope I was once taught to hold true to, I am failing on hope and the damage just does not end, it does not stop... I have seen enough of spilled blood! Nothing has prepared me for this, nothing I have seen nothing I have done, hope is a distant thought now... and I am failing those who trust their lives to me, by way of losing hope...”

After finishing her angered rant, Arinae went silent, her head hung low as she sighed in a despondent manner. “I apologize, milord, I have no reason to raise my voice to you...” She murmured the apology, turning to step a few paces away and sink to a sitting position against the stone, her gaze still held to the ground. She rubbed a hand against her eyes, fighting off a feeling of immanent doom pending, or at least her own fall, for she knew she could not hold strong for much more.

Noticing the heavy load on the Rohirrim lady leader, Aemornion let her finish off her sad tale in peace. He remained quiet but had no urge to counterword her in any way. He saw the anger, the fear, and the love for her home in the blazing eyes at once but they had been stricken with sadness and many heavy burdens.

Remaining quiet, he walked slowly to her and took a seat by her side while his gaze rested still on the forsaken barricade that loomed in the dark. He remained silent for a longer time.

"You got no reason to apologize milady" he spoke in a low voice, tone friendly and unweavering "the burden is deep on all of us, on you the most. If I could help you carry it, by the Valar, I would!" he paused then for a moment as his head sunk to the ground slightly "I was once in such a predicement as you are now, the choices were heavy." he murmured "It was many years ago, when I still served under other noble men and superior officers but I was given the charge over a battalion." he sighed "It was a fourth time I was responsible for twenty lives of men, but by my choice, I've sent all of them to their doom. I went along with them but only a few of us remained alive" once again he held a longer pause and then he turned his face towards Arinae "I was grim milady, I felt like I could die a thousand deaths at that time for those men trusted me with their lives." he twitled idly his ring on the finger "Years waned along with the ill forsaken memories, I gained a bitter experience and I learned seriously from my mistake. Now today, I find myself in command of the most noble and strongest men alive and they trust me in my decisions like I trust in theirs. But the fear is always present, a fear that I might send men to ruin." his voice fell to a low murmur as he looked back up to the night.

Tindomerel nodded slowly, looking down at the bow. She had watched her brothers use it so many times. They picked their targets, which were sometimes as small as an orc's hand, fired and hit the their targets with ease. She always wondered why it was never that easy for her.

"Okay," she said, to Rhayader, in a slightly unsure voice, "I'll try."

After a while, she loosened her tight grip on the arrow, which was still knocked on the undrawn bow. Nimloth sat up in her sleep, rolled over and lay her head back down.

Tindomerel didn't want to say it, but the only reason that she wasn't right where the all the action would be taking place, was that she wanted to stay right by Rhayader. She didn't want to see him hurt again.

The elf maiden sat down beside Nimloth, setting the bow and arrow in her lap, stroking Nimloth, humming an elvish tune, aimlessly. She couldn't remember where she had learned the slightly up-beat tune, but she always hummed it when she was bored.

Arinae nodded, though only vaguely, as her thoughts still wound within her mind, and her emotions were wrought in storms of anger and frustration within her very essence. It was more than she could handle to sit there and attempt at telling herself that she could continue, and that she could find hope, hope for herself, and hope for her men.

Finally after a moment of uneasy silence, she glanced at the Gondorian Captain and murmured her words, spoken in a strained voice. "I thank you, Milord, for your support, and I pray the Valar protect you and your men, and I apologize for all the saddness and pain this war of ours will cause upon the good people of Gondor..." Finishing, she stood and turned to walk silently away, not wishing to burden him with her thoughts, knowing in his mind alike laid a burden just as heavy and painful.

The night wore on, but no rest came for her as she sat alone within the Hornburg, upon a simple wooden chair, her legs drawn up and her chin rested upon her knees, while her arms enfolded them to hold them in place. Each second was counted, each minute caculated, and each sound or voice was feared to be an announcement to the arrival of the new enemy force. Silence remained to torture, though the occasional cry and groan from the wounded would be heard, and at such sounds, Arinae herself winced.

Watch was kept on the entrance to the caves constantly, and never was a guard let down, as sleepless minutes passed by, and still the enemy within the encloser was silent, almost too silent. One would wonder what devilry they had brewing within...

Aemornion watched Arinae leave in silence, sadness lingered in his eyes seeing her stained and burdened with many burdens of war, a place where no maiden should set foot against. He sat on the stair for a length of a time in some thought and then he stood up swiftly with a mind made up for the oncoming events.

He went out and prepared everything for the onset of the enemy that was drawing silently towards the Deep. The main gates were sealed and reinforced, now they remained trapped with the enemy in the glittering caves that could break in and slaughter the entire remaining host of the ally forces any moment.

Archers were set on the wall under Aemornion's command, swordsmen sharpened their swords while they prepared for the worst. Aemornion gave a grim chuckle to himself and let out a saddened sigh. Thoughts that this might be the last day of the lives of his men and himself never left his mind. He pushed them aside as much as he could and tried to convince himself that there is hope. There was hope, but it lingered far away to the northeast of Middle Earth beyond the Gap of Rohan.

As everything was more or less prepared, he walked up the deeping wall and stood watch towards the gloom of the night awaiting for the first sign of the enemy force.
