The black stallion slowed beside her and snorted. Strethin was breathing but blood was running down his side and onto the saddle. The horse snorted and nudged Laur softly.

Strethin tried to push himself up into a proper sitting position. He winced and looked over at Laur.
"Your safe. Thats all the matters." He whispered as the colour faded from his face.

Strethin began to slip from his horse and Laur caught him just in time, "Strethin, what happened?" She asked, laying him on the ground, her face inches from his.

"It was..." He paused for breathe. "It was just a fight. I think he got the better of me though." He said softly. His normaly bright eyes dimmed as he gritted his teeth against the stabbing pain.

He didn't awnser, his eyelids flickered slightly as he lay he head down onto the grass. As though in awnser to Laur's question, Brentan scrambled out of the shrubbery, Strethin's own blade in his good hand. He growled and staggered towards them.

Laur grew suddenly furious and whipped out her own sword. She fought with Brentan and asked him questions as a distraction, "You don't like seeing people happy do you? You can't stand that I wouldn't even touch you wth a barge pole let alone even like you. People like you make me sick." She said, anger boiling up inside her.

"But Menstrethin, I've had my eye on him all my life. I failed to kill him as a kid and I will succseed this time even if I have to go through your first!" He swung Strethin's blade up and made it tear through the air, aiming it as Luar's neak...

Laur ducked and their blades met in the air, "You'll never kill Strethin while I still have breath in my body!" She said to him menacingly.

"Well against me, you won't have any breate in your body." He snarled.

Strethin rolled over, ignoring the spearing pain. Obviosly he didn't have to sword. He pushed himself to his feet and pulled out a long, thin arrow that ung loosly from his back. He drew back the bow string and fired. Too late Brentan tried to dive away. It struck him in the chest and he fell back, lying still.

Laur breathed heavily and looked round at Strethin, "we need to get you back home, you need cleaning up."

Lothwen stared down at Brentan. As he fell, one of his arms hit her legs. Giving a sound of disgust, she kicked Strethin's enemy away from her and mounted her horse gracefully. Laur was right. "Yes," Lothwen said. "Laur is right. You need rest from your fight and I am sure we can find someone at home who will be able to cure you." She still did not fully understand why Brentan had attacked them, but she said nothing, knowing that Laur wouldn't rest until Strethin was healed.[where is home anyway?]

Laur and Lothwen managed to pull Strethin on to Laur's horse so that she could sit behind him. He kept on falling in and out of coniousness and Laur didn't think that having him riding was a very good idea.

((I'm sorry to be such a pain Lothwen but I find that blue text really hard to read, could you possibly use another colour??))
