"It's fine," Celeborn replied. "I'm not suprised you ran into me, actually-although, I hope you aren't offended by that. It's that you're so short..."

"Ah-ah...okay. Ummm...very pleased to meet you, but I'd really like to get going now." Ellethwen tried to sidel past him, even though she knew it was horrible manners.

"Please wait a minute," Celebron asked. He studied Ellethwen's face intently. "I don't recognize you. Are you from Rivendell, perhaps?"

Ellethwen had no clue how to anwser that. No, she wasn't from Rivendell-she wasn't even an Elf! She was from Davenport, Iowa, and had just been trying to put her clarinet away and then go to eat the school breakfast with Bri, Liz, and Krissy.

Before she really knew what she was doing, Ellethwen was saying "Yes, I'm from Rivendell. I came here to get something I left on my last visit." Which was about as far from the truth as possible, but experience in acting and the knowledge that telling Celeborn the truth could get her categorized with the insane people caused her to lie.

Gwenneth doged a branch that fell just behind her. Then she froze.

"I could've sworn that tree just lifted it's root,' she said slowly, her brow furrowed.

Gandalf turned and looked worried. "These trees have a dislike of people."

"The trees? Oh, of course," said Gwenneth, now remembering what was rumoured about the Old Forest.

"They will purposely try to hurt you," Gandalf warned, and Gwen nodded quickly. "Keep a sharp eye."

"How long until we're out?" Asked Gwenneth in a pleading hiss.

"Possibly just over a day, but that depends on us...and the trees," Gandalf answered.

"Great, now we have to worry about the trees." Pandora groaned and then yelped when a sound like a grumble came from a near-by tree.

'As I was saying.. let's move along then." Pandora grinned nervously at the tree before jumping over some wandering roots towards Gandalf and Gwen.

"With our luck we will not be out for a full two days..." Pandora said to herself while keeping a lookout for angry trees.

"If we keep our pace we can be out in a little less than a day." Gandalf said in his encouraging voice, but it wasn't enough to soothe Pan's fears.

"Maybe if we're quiet enough the trees won't notice us," said Gwen. But she immediately tossed away that idea after the look she recieved from the others.

She found herself staring at the ground through most of their journey through the Old Forest, watching for roots to shoot up. But then of course, she had to look up every now and then, or one of the trees might drop a little present for her.

"Just how are we supposed to sleep comfortably tonight?" She asked aloud, though to no one in particular.

Gandalf laughed and pointed to a small clearing in the distance.

"That area should be relatively safe. The trees are a bit nicer in this part of the woods."

"Oh that is encouraging" Pandora grumbled, tiredness and hunger creeping into her system making her grumpy.

"I think now would be a good time to rest." Gandalf stated as she turned dodging a weeping willow's thrashing roots before making his way towards the clearing.

"You girls coming?" He shouted softly from the other side of the tree.

"Yes!" Pandora answered wondering how they were to get around this not so happy tree.

Gwenneth half ran half jumped over that particular tree as fast as possible, then made her way to the safety of Gandalf's side.

"So, uh...we just, set out our stuff here and...sleep?" Gwenneth asked looking up at the wizard.

Gandalf smiled at her reasurringly and said, "Yes, and I'll be sure to stay up all night."

This settled Gwenneth and she felt a bit more comfortable laying out her 'bed'.

Caunion struggled onto his feet as he tried to parry an Orc's attacks. He finally got up, took him by the neck and thrusted his sword into him. Boromir had taken care about seven of the Orcs while the rest fled. Somehow, Caunion's horse still remained. He mounted him and joined Boromir, who asked, "What is your name?"
"Caunion," he replied.
"Caunion," Boromir repeated as they rode on.

Dark meekly followed Pandora and Gwenneth, through the Old Forest, her sword still in her hand. The blade of the sword glowed a faint red, much like Sting, then went back to it's normal steel grey colour. She padded quietly through the forest, being careful to not step on any roots and to dodge falling branches. She came across a huge old oak and bowed her head to it, hoping to show it some respect.

(Just out of curiousity, where are you guys? I know some are in Bree while others are following Gandalf but....)

Gwenneth fell into a light sleep, which meant she hardly got any the entire night from waking up at the slightest sound. But every time her eyes opened, she saw Gandalf awake and deep in thought.
One of the last times she woke up before morning, she felt a terrible ache in her back.
Argh, it's that root, she said angrily to herself after examing her sleeping post. Resentfully, she gathered her blankets, moving to another spot closer to the other girls. With a sigh she closed her eyes and was asleep after a few minutes. She did not wake until morning.

Dark yawned, ignoring the need for sleep. She was too amazed to sleep. She watched the trees, touching their roots gently and flinching when the shyed away. They know who i am...who my father was. She shook her head and tried to smile, watching the others she hummed 'Treebeard', from the Two Towers soundtrack, wondering if the trees would realise wht it was about.

Pandora rolled her sleeping bag out and was quickly out. She had had a trying day and welcomed the little sleep she got before morning.

When she awakened she was happy to see Gwen, Anduril, and Dark all safe next to her.

"Good Morning Pandora." Ganadalf said as his yeeyes finally gained some focus and he stood up from the log he was sitting in.

"Morning" She mumbled still between the sleep and awake realms

Upon hearing voices, Gwenneth awoke. She blinked a few times, adjusting to the light of dawn, and the shapes around her.

"Morning all," she said, rubbing her face. But as soon as she sat up she felt that same cink in her back. "Oww," she groaned. "It's that -- that root!"

After a chuckle, Gandalf beckoned her to come to him. He took one of her hands, closed his eyes, and mumbled a few words that she could not make out. But all of a sudden, her back was as good as new.

"Thank you, Gandalf!" She smiled, feeling more awake now. "So, what's for breakfast?"

Dark stood silently, listening to the talk about breakfast and saw a flitter in the dense underbrush.
"Butterfly!" And off Dark went, chasing the butterfly.

Caunion woke up, still weary from his little sleep. They had rode until neither of them could move on without sleep. Boromir was already up and waiting for him. "Ready?" he asked. Caunion merely nodded and mounted his horse.
